    IKR? Jealous, much

Agreed. This is something she believes in very strongly, so she's got to be pushed up against a wall with no other way out before she'd do it.
And even just the twisting of the story to get it to that point would be extraordinary. It worked in BSG because the eps followed on from one another, and because they drew it out for so long (seriously, that scene kept going...and going....and going. I was screaming in my head "pick up the gun, Roslin!"). Interestingly, the writers in that show copped out by not having her kill Starbuck (she could have at least given her a flesh wound). I think the GitM scene failed (at least IMO) because it wasn't Torri, and because it wasn't Elizabeth (again, IMO). Probably the only ones I could see it working with would be Kolya (who was already dead) or Oberoth (which would still have required the reactivating of her nanites in Adrift), or at a stretch, Ladon.

All I cared about was that I was able to ask her then about her Warehouse 13 appearance together with Sean Maher.
It was probably more awkward for her when they were filming/had filmed s5, but the public had only seen s4. If you excluded Missing and Trio, I think the response to Keller would not have been so dramatic. Plus altered some really questionable scenes (tweaking the way the DG 'shock' scene was filmed so that she didn't look like an idiot, reworking the Bola Kai scene, nixing the 'I wuv Keller' video).

    Spoiler:

He looked over at her covertly as she returned her gaze to the ocean, her expression steady and firm. She looked the same, sounded the same, as she had just a few days before Ellis had arrived on Atlantis and upended the world. Three years ago for him, just days for her.

He crossed his arms. “I’ll need more details from Rodney.”

    “Of course.”

“And I’ll probably want an escort for you, at least until I can understand how all this works.”

“I think that’s more than reasonable.”

“And apparently I need to have a nice long talk with General O’Neill about who’s in charge of security on Atlantis. Again.”

Lightning flashed, this time so close it lit up the sky like daybreak. Her seriousness melted away into an expression of humor. It piqued his curiosity, wondering what could make her smile, given the circumstances. “What’s so funny?”

She leaned forward on the rail. “Do you remember when Rodney and Zelenka figured out how to power the shield generator the first year, during that storm? From the lightning? They came up and reported it to me doing this Abbott and Costello routine. I remember thinking while they were speaking that whatever crazy idea they had, it was going to work, because they were so in sync with one another. Like there was power in their force to get things done.”

“There typically was.” He leaned down next to her. “Though I don’t seem to remember anything particularly funny about that storm.”

Her smile faded, and she glanced down at her hands. “No, I don’t suppose you would. Though you did manage to joke about it after.”

    “Did I?”

She glanced over at him, raising an eyebrow. “You asked for vacation twenty years in advance.”

Had he? That had been so long ago. There was a vague memory of it. He grinned a bit.

When he looked back over, he found her studying him. It made him feel a bit like a lab rat, or one of McKay’s experiments. He straightened, and shoved his hands in his pockets. She followed suit, and they stood there in silence a moment. It didn’t feel quite right, and yet, in a way, it did.

The storm was drawing closer, making for a nice electrical show. The contrast of the light and dark cast shadows across her face and the green of her shirt, which he suddenly noticed. Expedition style, a plain uniform shirt and gray pants.

    “What’s with the new getup?”

She turned. “Oh. Woolsey’s idea. Apparently he’s been planning this—” gesturing to her watch again—“for days. According to him the reason the IOA approved the initiative was because of an argument he made about my ‘importance’ to the city.” She tilted her head back with a small smile. “Honestly, I think his motivation was partly to do with everything I own conflicting with his wardrobe. In any case, he decided to designate a new expedition position. I am the first official diplomatic representative of the Atlantis expedition.”

    “Diplomatic…representative?”

“Basically, I think I’m a tour guide,” she said, her voice tinged with humor. “When dignitaries come to the city, I get to show them around. Richard has argued it’s a doorway to getting me to work with the other members of the Pegasus Coalition, and eventually go out and work on alliances with surrounding planets in a diplomatic capacity, but General O’Neill wants it one step at a time. That means I’m city-bound for a while. No use risking things,” she rattled the watch on her wrist a bit. “I imagine I’ll get to research quite a lot on the origins of Pegasus, working with the database, helping Richard out here and there—light housekeeping.”

“There’s no such thing around here.”

    “True.”

The waves crashing against the city had risen higher now, and she leaned over the railing a little, trying to see them. He had an itchy feeling in his fingers to grasp the back of that nice new green shirt and yank her back.

“Do you mind?” He muttered. She looked back, straightening.

    “What?”

He gestured with his hand, waving her back. She raised an eyebrow once more, crossing her arms the way she always had, one hand wrapped around her elbow. “What, you’re suddenly afraid of heights now? You?”

“No,” he shot back. “I would just rather not be hanging over a steel railing trying to pull your a…you…up with a rather powerful lightning storm on the way.”

    Her eyebrow arched up further.

“Can we just not take any unnecessary risks at the moment? For maybe ten minutes or so?”

She pursed her lips together. “I think I need to speak to Rodney.”

    “Rodney? Why Rodney?”

“Because the day you lecture me about not taking unnecessary risks is the day I start to question reality again.”

Not quite blue, but I'm going for more blue-green than green-green. This is a snippety-snippet of...something...and the watch you're going to have to wait for more explanation on. But I thought the drawing by Erin was weirdly coincidental.

Have fun at the Con, con-goers!
    ZOMG! Can't wait for this!

That seems to be the consensus re RP. That's why Woolsey kept coming back, and why he had a personality overhaul

I bless the raaaaaains down in Laaaaantica

Oohhhh, Major, your scent, it's intoxicating

Look, things might seem grim now, but Ronon's gonna need that wig in a couple of years, so in a sense, you'll live on through him

Young man, are you new in this town......

I didn't want it to come to this, Stephen, but we all think you need to cut back on your drinking

This is a bit of a tangent, but one thing I wish they'd cleared up properly is the chain of command re Atlantis. So, did Weir get demoted when she left to head up the Antarctic Expedition, and subsequently Atlantis? She went from head of the SGC to answering to the head of the SGC. She has discretionary authority over Caldwell (whatever that means - presumably being able to order him to do something, but not command as such) while he's in Pegasus, but apparently Carter doesn't (I discount the Woolsey scene in TLT as clearly Mitch was unavailable for that ep). OT for this thread I guess. Just odd that she called Generals O'Neill and Landry "sir"

I'm not sure what their intent was, but if you look at it merely from a military standpoint, I see the following. Weir couldn't command anyone who was military on a regular basis, but since she was in charge of Atlantis, anyone who came to the city could be ordered around by her while there. When they put Carter in charge, it became a military operation so since Caldwell outranked her, she couldn't give him orders. And I think Weir called the Generals "sir" just out of respect, like you would the president or any other high official. Now the part about the SGC is still a puzzlement.

Good morning, Sparkies! Happy Sparky!Family Saturday!

And finally I have some time to do more than just a drive-by post...

Erin, I LOVE your comic! My heart just melted at how sweet they looked together. Totally should've happened on the show! Lizzeh totally looks good in blue, doesn't she?

Eri, I am eagerly awaiting the story that comes from the snippet you posted. Love how Woolsey's totally conspiring against the IOA, and John being totally paranoid about Elizabeth hanging over the railing had me laughing my butt off. He's so cute!

When they put Carter in charge, she was a full bird colonel, just like Caldwell, so he didn't outrank her (though he did obviously have more time in rank).

The IOA is mixed up in all this as well. Since they were giving a lot of funding to the expedition, it seemed like Weir really answered to them (and to the President) more than to the SGC.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

I see it as a major opportunity really for weir to lead the Atlantis expedition and not a demotion. By the way what's TLT?

I could be wrong but with Carter as pretty much the area commander for the Pegasus Galaxy wouldn't she be considered senior to any ship commanders not perminantely stationed there?

Pondering the chain of command for Atlantis is giving me a headache.
