Omfg strong winds are a great occasion for watching the storm.....reminds me how during Huricanne Irene I ran outside and did the whole Monolouge of Sheppard screaming "KOOOOOOOOOLLLYYAAA". If only I had a fake P-90 I would have entertained myself during the blackout by pretending to be Sheppard saving Weir.

Good to see you too...I've been a busy bee writing and Rping...which is paying off...my writing is getting better.

I know, right? And then when John goes Rambo, it's like the fact that Rodney is still alive isn't even on his radar. He's focused on one thing: Avenging Elizabeth. You don't go off the deep end like that for someone who's just your boss. RAWR. Slay those Genii, John!

Ooh, one side note:

When I watched the Lizzeh office scene, about halfway through: John and Elizabeth walks in. She sits down. He picks up the statue sitting on her desk in the front right corner, then sets it down.

What is he thinking?

I'm gonna start plopping my butt down here. This thing's gotta go.

I was thinking that same thing. It looked like he was seriously considering sitting down there. And the fact that he is so comfortable touching the things on her desk is very interesting also.

I was actaully think of that too, made me curies if that was when he came up with the idea of what to give her for her birthday, or at least that he have that in mind when BIS came along.

I'm sure later he remembered all the things she likes to keep around, saw that the Athosians made very attractive pots and put the two together. I'm sure also that Teyla was a big help picking it out.

Somewhere before the start of season 4 there was yet another uproar about spoilers that were freely available on the net and JM's blog. Some of the fans were not in agreement with how things were going and predicted the downfall of the SGA we had come to love. JM, of course, was not pleased with this and called the displeased fangroup Shrill and Ill-Informed Lemmings. This sparked a whole new group within the fandom who totally ran with it.

Anywho...

I'm a member of the Lemming-group - have the badge and title to proof it too.

And then at some point in time it started to lead a life all on its own when in the Teyla/Rachel thread someone started a bit of roleplaying and from there on out I was known as the Lemming, Kate's Lemming to be exact. And that happened because I'm such a big Heightmeyer-fan, always sticking up for the character, loving her, praising her, thunking over her... like a good little fangirl.

So, that's when I became Heightmeyer's Lemming... most of the traits assigned to my Lemming persona go back to the RP in the Teyla-thread - Princess Awinita's doing to be exact.

Sugar makes me happy and bouncy. I love Kate's shoulder (see icon). I happily bounce around the city, occasionally getting into trouble (chewing on Rodney's cables is just way too much fun).

And that's all there is to it realy. It's become an intricate part of my life in the Stargate Atlantis fandom. Much like Jelgate's laws - his fourth law states that you can set your clock to it that I will mention Kate H. at least once every few posts.

I agree with those who said the sex-in-closets scenario was unrealistic. I think we all knew that and never really took it seriously, but it was fun to play around with. The bit of fanon I liked even less was sex on the balcony. I mean, come on, they wouldn't do that. I never much like the OMG!Sex! bits of fics. I like it to happen naturally with more romance than porno movie. Not that I've ever seen one of those. And yes, I am aware of my couple of smut fics.

*wibbles* But I like the sex in closets stuff. And sex on the balcony too. Maybe I just like reading about sex.

I don't know... I mean, if John can use his mind to turn on a hologram, or fly a puddlejumper or even fly Atlantis itself, then closing a door with his mind really shouldn't be that hard to imagine.

Now, the thing about "talking to Atlantis and Atlantis talks back"... eh, that's a bit trickier. Certainly, when you look at how the Ancients reacted when the human-form Asuran Replicators evolved from the Ancients' Wraith-killing nanites, I'd say it's pretty clear that the Ancients would probably not have been all that keen to put an artificial intelligence in charge of the city. Yet there are other clues that would seem to indicate that Ancient technology isn't totally "dumb" either. One that really sticks in my mind (and probably a lot of other peoples') is that very famous scene from Rising Part 2, where Sheppard and Ford (and a few Marines) are on their way to rescue Sumner, Teyla and the others:



Sheppard just thinks it, and the jumper provides exactly what he needs. Within its capabilities of course. Obviously, the jumpers aren't equipped with Star Trek-style food service units that just beam in the requested food.

In my personal canon, I see Ancient technology as as being "aware" in that it is capable of anticipating the needs and requirements of its users based on previous usage. Basically, Ancient technology/programming can learn and adapt to a certain extent, but at some point, it will always require the input of a human user (either through pushing buttons or a mental interface) before it can fully carry out directed tasks. So, no, Atlantis can't talk back to John. But it can open or close doors when he asks it to. (Unless they're in a lockdown situation like in Hot Zone. )

There's one story I read where Elizabeth is rescued and Atlantis tells John about it - not in words but emotions and a picture - and John goes running down the hall. Sam or Woolsey says something like "well, I think Atlantis just told him." I liked that one. I think it's fun to toy with the possibilities in fic. I used to be very canon about fic, but now I just think of them as all alternate universes.

Not so fast my friend. I think "wordgirl" might complement "mathboy" a lot better. Hmm? Actually, that would be a good call sign for Elizabeth.

That is an excellent assessment of the whole thing. Arrogance blinds you to the truth, and it must make you deaf too because they didn't listen to any of the warnings. Now look at all the people they put out of work and all the fans who will never watch a show of theirs ever again.

At the end of that video, Joe says he has talked to the new owners of MGM and that they are interested in doing a movie or something some day. I have mixed feelings about that. I think I'd just as soon leave it where it is. I'm awfully fearful that the new guys won't listen to the fans either and will do what they think we want rather than what the majority actually wants. All the talk about how ratings were going up in S5 sets off my alarm bells a bit. That tells me they think the dark tone and all the other changes were for the better, and that scares me.

I really don't think it'll ever happen and I agree with you, SR. Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but there are too many horrible possibilities.
