Is it shameful of me to admit that I drooled a little over those OR pics?

That was my whole point. War and Peace is the only long book most people can think of.

I didn't think of the public domain angle, but I'm sure that's it. War and Peace is free on most eBooks. I'd like to think they did it as a theme for Sparky, but I'm not that naive.
Hmm, I'll hafta go download it from iBooks.

    And I'm 22. I am that naive.

For that book idea, I wonder if there would be legal issues with using that book. In the same way that songs are in TV, I wonder if there's public domain books and the other ones you'd have to pay a royalty. Regardless, I like that the title reflects the two of them: diplomat "Peace" Elizabeth, and soldier "War" John. I have no clue what the book is about, other than the things SR's fic said about them.

Ugh, off to work. TGIF! And Friday the 13th! Woot! My good luck day!
It's my good luck day too!

There are sometimes legal issues, but I don't know if a mention would push far enough to infringe rights, since you're not technically stealing the work, you're just bringing it up. Kinda like when John mentions The Abyss in Submersion--they may have been able to get by without having to get permissions just because it's a simple mention. But I don't remember the exact laws on that.

As far as War & Peace, I do think it was a good book for John to choose symbolically, and it may have been a book he was better suited for, because it's certainly not flowery! An analytical mind might appreciate it more than most. It is exactly what the title mentions--it's about Russia during the Napoleonic invasion, with alternating storylines about characters on the battlefront and on the homefront, dealing with the advances and eventual defeat of Napoleon and how the citizens of Russia deal with the fallout.

I actually really got into it about 200 pages in and found it fascinating (though I am no math mind!). The philosophies of war, peace and life are all waxed on throughout the book, so it is pertinent to the military vs. civilian philosophy of Atlantis, though there are no direct parallels, exactly, to our characters. Perhaps Prince Bolkonsky to John, though he's a bit too cynical for Sheppard.

In order to put Kanaan and Torren on that balcony, one would have to need a picture of both, or Teyla holding Torren and Kanaan standing nearby. The lighting will have to be adjusted plus you'd have to cut Teyla from the original image and re-insert her beautiful self back in with Torren and Kanaan.

I was thinking about doing some sort of trailer like the ones I saw for Pillars of the Earth, but then I realized that with the new characters that might be problematic as I wanted to add a glimpse of Mayel in there as well. Unless there was an actress I could use for that part... But I'm currently in the process of storyboarding so you know, we'll see...

        And that's about it...
        It's sorta been done...reimagining...stuff...

Really, only 22? You seem much more mature. That was a compliment by the way.

And on the pics, I can imagine the nurses playing "rock, paper scissors" to see who got to shave his chest. *dies* I'm picturing how different Joe's treatment would be from Mr. SR. *scrapescrape* Ow! *scrapescrape* Ow! vs. *smoothes on the shave cream* *careful application of very sharp razor in long strokes* *smoothes on more shave cream* "You can stop right there, nurse. We don't need to shave the whole chest."

Or the supervising nurse handing out assignments: It's 85 year old Mr. Jones here for his colonoscopy or Mr. F and his lumpy shoulder. Stand back and watch the nurse smackdown.

Since he had the surgery, I'm hoping the shoulder is back in its socket. LOL Did you see the pics from the OR? I was trying to compare what he did and what I did, as it's hard to tell from the pics. His will have a longer lasting effect, hence the surgery. Apparently I am in the 5% of people who have a posterior dislocation. Posterior dislocations are unusual, and seen after injuries such as electrocution or after a seizure. Not in my case, obviously. I did drive myself to hospital to have it relocated, so I can honestly say it doesn't impede one's driving. Much.

That was my whole point. War and Peace is the only long book most people can think of.

They probably did it on purpose, but thought it didn't mean anything

Better that than do you need a hand to go to the urinal?. No. No. Just no.

So do I. They may not have intended it, but I'll take it.

If they didn't want it to be a theme for Sparky, they should've chosen a different book.

Misjudging the fans again. We'll pounce on anything, don't they know that?

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

I haven't watched it yet. Do I need spoilers to be prepared or can I go in blind? *iz nervous*

It is Friday the 13th after all. So far today, I've lost a contact while driving and had to close one eye to see. Here's hoping the rest of the day goes better.

Lizzie's a bit blurry... is she a ghost maybe?

I would cut Amelia out and replace her with Kanaan and Torren. And then switch Teyla to their side.

No, Liz, unfortunately, was from a lo-res screen pull and was unceremoniously dumped into a hi-res promo photo in 15 minutes or less. Which may be an apropos description of the characters treatment in general. *whistles*
