Torri and Joe, sandwiched between them.

    Spoiler:

Paul McGillion, Robin Dunne, Rekha Sharma and Dan Payne.

It was very awesome, especially since I had seen Torri a week earlier in Belgium at a local convention where I won a bid for a very large personalized poster. I was wearing my doctor who outfit which she remembered in Marseille and asked about too. We had a looooot of fun, and the Q&A's were awesome.

I do have to say that the convention was very small, in comparison to what you might see in the States. So it was very contained which means more time to spend with actors and have a few longer conversations.

I suppose I'll just pony up the money for a photo to use - unless I can find something more interesting in the meantime.
You can have them sign just about anything --
You can always print out promo shots on photo paper yourself and have those signed.

If you want some idea of what sort of personalized messages actors write, feel free to peruse through my Halfway Convention autographs file on photobucket.

I have a few very personal ones.
Torri's for example with the germs -- I was having a cold the week before so she may have picked them up there, in Belgium.

And I have a very cool message from Neil Roberts when I met him at a Firefly convention in the UK. He was the moderator/presenter.
I was all the way in the front, sitting on the floor, right in from of him when he announced Morena Baccarin. He explained she'd been in some Shakespeare plays and in my infinite wisdom I went "Hu?" at a rather quiet moment, so he heard that. The rest of the weekend, every time he passed me in the hallways he'd greet me with Miss Shakespeare. I wasn't planning on getting his autograph but my friends said I should totally get one, and so I did. And thus I got the best message ever in which he thanked me for the opportunity to make his introduction of Morena even better. It's obviously addressed to Miss Shakespeare.

Personalize means signed to you, with your name. I heard tell ones they prefer signing something to you specifically cause it means the chances are less likely that you're just going to sell the item, and using their autograph to make it more valuable.
Messages depend on the time, but they usually add something extra, be it a smiley or kisses or hearts.

Actually, it's pretty standard for most online ticket sales (whether concerts, conventions, or theme parks) to still have some sort of processing fee as part of the transaction, even if the tickets are being sent via email rather than physically through the US Mail/FedEx/etc. From your initial comment, it sounded like your main concern was that you thought you couldn't get the tickets emailed to you.

Michael Shanks draws a funny picture on his and David Hewlett's line takes forever because he loves to write a special message.

There is a great pizza place within walking distance of the hotel. Just ask at the desk. Food in the hotel is expensive and there are not a lot of places to eat. When I was there they did a little boxed lunch thing in the lobby also, but I would advise you to take snacks.
Aw, man. You're making me wish I had paid for Sunday and autographs from Michael and David. SOMEDAY. /shakesfist

Oh, sweet. That would be a good idea for con day, thanks. I can't wait to explore the city on Sunday and try lots of great food! I do hope I get there early enough on Friday to be able to register beforehand.

Um.. Your con experiences sound so awesome?! I'm so jelly. That's so cool that you seem to have made it a regular thing to attend cons to see your favorite actors. I really wish I had tried that earlier because I can only imagine all of the events I've missed out on over the years.

Thank you for all of the information! I'll probably end up buying some photos at the con for them to sign because I don't have anything interesting save for like.. a couple comic books with neither Elizabeth nor Teal'c in them lol.

I have a personal goal to finish a drawing of Dr. Fraiser that I started at the beginning of the year for fun - like, it's the second time in my life I've tried drawing realistically instead of in a cartoonish way - and if it turns out presentable, I may ask Teryl to sign it just for something different. As long as it's not awful, it should be fine..? I'm willing to risk the utter embarrassment.

Yeah, I checked out Walker Stalker after this, and I *think* they don't send them physically but just email, which is something I wish were standard for these events. Like... if you could choose between them. But oh well.

Yeah, it seems whether or not they physically mail tickets really depends on the event/venue. I used to go to Comic-Con in San Diego all the time while I lived in California and they never mailed out badges, you had to pick them up when you arrived. Then just this year, they apparently switched to a new badge style with RFID chips to combat fake badges, and mailed them to attendees. Go figure.

Actually, after lurking this thread a bit to catch up, I only just found out about the Stargate con. I've never been to one, but I could feasibly attend one in Chicago if I can get the time off. The thought is super exciting because what better con to be my first than the last Stargate one?? If I end up going, mind if I ask you guys some questions about con experiences and how to prepare? As much as I would LOVE to attend two days of it (Michael Shanks, gah!), I probably can only afford one/have time for one before I'd need to travel home.

Of course, I would want to see Torri and Joe! And get an autograph with Torri. More research is needed, and I don't know how fast these things sell out, but I definitely want to look into it.

ETA: Yep, planning in process. Looks like there are only a few seats left for people who don't have weekend tickets, and I'm not sure it's worth another $30 to select a slightly better seat than whatever I would end up with if I had a no-reservation seat lmao.
Hi! It's so awesome that you'll get to go to the last con! I'm sure it will be awesome and I look forward to hearing about it.

                                Art Challenge #113

I know I am a day early, but I will be out of the house all day tomorrow so lucky you, you get an extra day on this challenge! You still have time to enter last weeks challenge [the TV show you are looking forward to this fall]. I will post those entries tomorrow evening.

For this week, we are going to do a technical challenge. {We also have a behind the scene pairs challenge. If you signed up for that, you have already been PM'd and you have your partner. If you have a partner, you can still do this challenge as extra, OR with your partner, whatever you two decide.} For the rest of us.....

This week you have a choice.

                                1. make 2 icons [either 100x100 or 110x110 or 120x120] that somehow match. Either same pic, same colors, both are split half&half, both are B&W, whatever you think means "matching".

                                2. for those of you that despise icons and won't even try them make some art that focuses on 'negative space'.

You can also do both challenges, make icons that include negative space. The more art the better!!

Entries due to me by noon your time Monday September 26th.
