It was very awesome, especially since I had seen Torri a week earlier in Belgium at a local convention where I won a bid for a very large personalized poster. I was wearing my doctor who outfit which she remembered in Marseille and asked about too. We had a looooot of fun, and the Q&A's were awesome.
I do have to say that the convention was very small, in comparison to what you might see in the States. So it was very contained which means more time to spend with actors and have a few longer conversations.

You can always print out promo shots on photo paper yourself and have those signed.
If you want some idea of what sort of personalized messages actors write, feel free to peruse through my Halfway Convention autographs file on photobucket.
I have a few very personal ones.
Torri's for example with the germs -- I was having a cold the week before so she may have picked them up there, in Belgium.
And I have a very cool message from Neil Roberts when I met him at a Firefly convention in the UK. He was the moderator/presenter.
I was all the way in the front, sitting on the floor, right in from of him when he announced Morena Baccarin. He explained she'd been in some Shakespeare plays and in my infinite wisdom I went "Hu?" at a rather quiet moment, so he heard that. The rest of the weekend, every time he passed me in the hallways he'd greet me with Miss Shakespeare. I wasn't planning on getting his autograph but my friends said I should totally get one, and so I did. And thus I got the best message ever in which he thanked me for the opportunity to make his introduction of Morena even better. It's obviously addressed to Miss Shakespeare.

Messages depend on the time, but they usually add something extra, be it a smiley or kisses or hearts.
