I think he hugs Weir in the show at some point. Don't remember the episode, so will have to re-watch. (Actually, I think it was some time in season two.)

Considering how awkward he was when Teyla hugged him, I'd say he's not much for that touchy feely stuff. And even when Elizabeth hugged him in Seige 2, it took him a moment before he hugged her back.

Now if you're talking about Joe, he's a mighty fine hugger.

Sparky at night beyond season 1? Just off the top of my head and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few (hmm, maybe I need to do a rewatch), there's Conversion (though John is turning into Bug Boy!), The Return Part 1 has Lizzeh looking out her window over a nighttime Atlantis, and Lifeline has the famous bit with John making his vow on the balcony at the end. Hope that helps start you off!

The balcony scene at the end of The Tower in S2 is pretty dark, and the one near the end of Progeny in S3 is definitely dark. One really good one is their final scene in The Real World. Even though it's inside, I don't think it's very bright and all the Sparky chemistry comes out.

My college roommate came to visit last week. We have seen each other only a few times in all these years but keep in touch. I know she is a big SciFi fan, so I asked her if she watched SGA. Oh yes, she and her husband were huge Stargate fans. So, I took her in my little home office and pointed her toward my pics of me with Joe and me as the filling in a McShep sandwich. Gasp! Oh my! How? Where? Oh my! She was amazed. I told her all about my convention experience, showed her the rest of my autographed pics and explained how Mr. SR and I talked to Joe about his political arguments with Torri. "Oh, they did have incredible chemistry," my friend said. Sparky lives!
