I'd join, but racing takes over the only telly with a working disc player on Sundays.

Sorry I missed the postathon. Was hanging out with some friends of mine that I haven't seen in a while. And playing frisbee. With a broken pinky. But I didn't get hurt, so it's all good!

ETA: And I found a cute little story to rec!

And a little bit more of my whumped!Elizabeth fic. (If a broken finger counts as whump )

                    Spoiler:
Carson had told Elizabeth to report to the infirmary at 1000 hours.

                    John was there at 0959.

Elizabeth had foregone her usual attire, wearing a dark pair of jeans and a three quarter length black shirt. As she approached the doors, she saw her second-in-command waiting outside the doors and her face scrunched in a confused smile. “John. I wasn’t expecting to see you here.”

He shrugged and pushed away from the wall. “Well, you know they say you should have someone to drive you home after surgery. And it’s either me or having Ronon hoisting you over his shoulder in a ‘Planet of the Apes’ move.”

It made her laugh, but he noticed her wringing her hands.

                    “You nervous?”

“I haven’t had surgery in years. Just anxious, I guess.”

A thought ran through his mind about her recent incident with the nanites, but he quickly squelched it.

She slapped her hands against her jeans, bringing him out of the memory. “Well, let’s get this over with.”

Once Carson caught sight of her, he quickly greeted them and escorted her behind the curtain. John had stood outside the curtain while she changed into the generic white scrubs that were issued to infirmary patients, and then Carson and Marie pulled back the curtain as they began prepping her.

Elizabeth was leaning back in the hospital bed, blanket pulled up to her waist, her injured hand laying helplessly on her lap. Carson had just put on the blood pressure cuff and was swabbing the back of her right hand, preparing the IV site. John took the open curtain as an invitation to enter. “So anything else you need to pass on before the drug you up? Secret passwords? Wills?” he asked with a mocking frown.

Elizabeth smiled up at him, then hissed in pain as the needle pierced her skin and entered her vein. “It’s a simple procedure, John. I’ll be in and out in no time.”

“Aye. It should be under an hour,” Carson reaffirmed, attaching the IV line to the needle. Once it was covered with a large bandage and a few strips of medical tape, he patted her arm and smiled comfortingly at his patient. “How’re you feeling? Comfortable?”

                    “Mm-hmm, I’m okay.”

Carson attached for the pulse monitor. “All right then, I’ll let you settle in for a few moments, then we’ll take you back.”

                    “Doctor Beckett!”

The call came from near the entrance to the infirmary. Two Marines walked in, one supporting the other as he walked with a limp, his ankle twisted grotesquely as he stifled a groan.

“Excuse me,” Carson murmured as he ran from Elizabeth’s bedside to check on the Marine.

John’s eyes followed him. “Davidson, what happened?”

“Sparring session gone wrong, sir,” the injured young man replied as he was helped onto the bed.

Carson spared a glance back at Elizabeth. “Once I see to Sergeant Davidson, I’ll be right with you, love.”

“Take your time,” Elizabeth murmured, quietly enough that it was meant for her ears only but loud enough that John heard it.

He turned back around to face her. “You sure you’re okay?”

Elizabeth looked back up, biting her lip. “I guess I’m a little more worried than I let on.”

Marie, who was still standing nearby, walked up to her. “If you’re anxious, I can give you something that will help to calm you down.”

                    “Why not?”

Marie dismissed herself to go get the medicine.

John pulled up a chair next to the bed. “Mind if I keep you company?”

“Not at all,” she replied, smiling at him. “You’re my ride home, after all.”

i tell you these last two seasons have made me dub John "Suicidal John". look at all his brash actions these past couple of years.

One of the things I kinda liked about The Prodigal was that since this was his last episode, all 3 of the action centric members of Shepard's team got a piece of him in some sort of punch up. John and Teyla's tag team series of punches in the end was especially cool.
"First Weir, then Samantha Carter, and now, you! It's a pity you humans die or get reassigned so easily, or I might have a sense of satisfaction now!"

yes they did. my favorite one will always be just John vs Michael on top of the tower, you can tell those two were really going at it.

Adorbs. Just adorbs. She can face down a Wraith queen and the Genii but is nervous about a little surgery. But luckily, John is there.
