My aunt is still no better. Her doctor prescribed her some strong pain killers which I picked up this morning. She still hasn't been able to come downstairs all day. I just brought her some toast and OJ. I don't know how she's going to be able to get to the doctor tomorrow (it's 30 minutes away and she can't even sit upright). I told her that if she's not improving by Thursday we need to find a way to get her into a rehab facility. The problem with that is insurance - if you aren't admitted to the hospital then insurance won't pick up the cost. I think she needs rehab at this point. And I can't work at home indefinitely. I need to keep my job as it's the only source of income into the house. She gets Social Security but that gets eaten up by medical expenses. *sigh* I need to win the lottery. Or marry a sugar daddy.
Sorry you're going through all this and sorry also for your aunt's pain. My advice would be to call your elderly affairs office. Even if they don't have a program to help, they can give you some advice.

Good luck with your aunt, JT-2. I'd hold of on that sugar daddy though, maybe try the lottery first.

So I finally got everything transferred to my Mac, but MS Word won't open the old .wps files from my laptop. Grr. So if anyone knows of an easier way than resaving all the files on my old laptop, please let me know.

Oh, and in case anyone's interested, here's the X-ray from my pinky.

Yep... Thankfully, since it happened at work, I'm getting workers comp for it. Orthopedic doc is checking it out tomorrow to see where we go from here, whether it'll heal on its own or if I need pins inserted. *cringes*

Yikes!! I hope it'll heal on its own, cause pins sounds painful... The though alone sends shivers down my back.

Although, I have to admit I'm running around with a wire at the bottom tip of my breastbone, so nothing bad about having something artificial in place to help the body. My wire has been with me for 19 years now, and I have no intention of having it removed ... it's not in the way.

Yeah, not eagerly anticipating that option. Hoping it doesn't happen, so the doc better make me one heck of a splint or cast for this finger.

Also, I imagine it would make going through airport security a bit interesting.

Cringe indeed. The only bone I ever broke was my baby toe, which healed on its own. But it hurts like the dickens sometimes still, years later.

I remember something like this happening (the files, not the finger) when I first got my Mac, but since I turn all those sorts of things over to Mr. SR and just wipe it out of my brain, I don't know the solution. I checked my documents folder and found that all my old files are .rtf files, so I'm guessing that was what I ended up having to do. SK can probably help you. Try opening them in Pages.

That reminds me of what happened to a kid at a wrestling meet I covered while working for the local paper years ago. He dislocated the tip of his pinky and broke it just above the same joint. The first hospital he was taken to wouldn't touch him and he was sent to another hospital in another town.

Glad your's doesn't look that bad. Hopefully your's will heal on it's own.
