Well, having the forums down for most of today didn't exactly help matters.

BTW, hope everyone's enjoying this Fluffy Thursday!

This isn't so fluffy, but here's a vid from Dragon Con that has a little bit of behind the scenes history of when SG1 was ending and they were thinking of bringing Amanda (and Chris J) over to Atlantis - ignore the "twerking" and whatever at the beginning if you want, and a view of Joe F that annoyed me a bit. So if you want to stay in a good mood, perhaps don't watch:

I should have listened to your warning. Why don't I ever listen? I never visited the set of either SGA or SG-1, but just from listening to things like this over the years, I've formed the opinion that certain people involved in SG-1 were immature and crude. This just confirms my opinion. I have a lot more to say, but I'll save it because my grandma always said...well you know what she said.

I'll heed your warning and not watch. I don't need the added stress.

Wow. Well that video just lowered my opinion of certain people.

Wow. Just wow. I am shocked. Okay, let me ignore all the nastiness for a minute to get to the part where they were going to bring over Teal'c as well as Sam. Good grief. TPTW clearly thought Atlantis was worth nothing. That SG-1 was clearly the one that needed to be saved (and now I'm thinking the cast thought they were superior as well). There was also a lot of talk of bring over Daniel too. I'm sure if they could have gotten their way they would have brought over the whole team. Maybe they'd have kept Rodney and Keller, but everyone else would have to go. *shakes head*

Yup, that about sums it up.

Me too. Some people are shy and there's nothing wrong with that. Of course, that makes me remember the story of Joe and Torri reading scripts while they were casting and they got into a heated political debate. So clearly they were comfortable with each other right away.

Ummm, wow! Almost makes me wonder what they say in private if they are willing to be that 'honest' with a filming audience!

Yeah, it's obvious tptb always had a lot more consideration with the SG1 cast and held them in higher regard. I'm not surprised about what was said in this video, at all. I mean, the actors reflect tptb's actions. They saw tptb treating the SGA cast like crap (with a few exceptions) and who knows the things they might have heard in private. So, the derision is something to be expected. They think they're superior because that's the treatment they've received and that's the behaviour they've observed from tptb, so they treat the "inferior" cast, the way they've grown used to.

And people still ask what's my grudge against SG1.

Well, obviously Torri has an open mind and enjoyed a good political debate. As a shy person, I can certainly relate. I can't remember how many times I was embarrassed and humiliated and misunderstood by my peers when I was too shy to speak up in class and my face turned as red as my hair, but I had loyal friends who took the time to get to know me and they knew the real me. Bullies should be put in their place and made to understand that every person is worthwhile and nobody should be ridiculed in public.

The atmosphere on the SGA set sounds like a place I'd much rather be than SG-1.

I'm a shy person too. The SG-1 people there sound like my sister and her friends who are all very outgoing and were always pretty clear they thought I was odd. Not cool, dudes. (For all the money my sister now owes me, she should be grateful I am the way I am. )

That whole thing was just not right. He had to be aware someone would be filming him. Even if you thought that about a person, it's clearly not appropriate to say that out loud to a large crowd.

And Luz, you're so right about that kind of thing coming down from the top. My work world has undergone big changes in upper management and it's rolling down and changing the way people treat each other. It all comes down from the top.

Hmmm, that is disappointing. My guess is that when Chris was talking about Amanda going over, he's actually talking about earlier on. From what I understand there was talk about having her as part of the initial cast, then giving her the Deadalus in s2, then the Odyssey and making her the bridge between the two series (the s10 ep where everyone falls asleep was initially meant to be the Odyssey crew stumbling into that), so them wanting Amanda there was always part of the plan, mostly because by the end of s7 they'd pretty much run out of ideas for Carter on SG-1 (s8 was basically tying up loose ends - it's not like they focused on her role as leader).

And whilst I agree with the criticism about SG-1 taking over SGA, in all fairness to those involved, I suspect part of that was because they'd worked with those people for a decade and wanted to see them employed. I imagine they merged a lot of the production staff after SG-1 ended, but we don't generally hear about that side of things. Bringing Teal'C & Daniel over - especially if they'd done it early on - would have killed the show. If they'd run out of stories to tell with them on SG-1, putting them in another galaxy wouldn't exactly shake things up.

All of that said, I am disappointed to hear that. Not surprised, just disappointed. It wasn't so much what Chris said, more his response before he started that story.

Again, to be fair to them, they've probably been asked those sorts of questions for years. At a certain point you/they would probably get sick of giving a pat response

The more comments I read about that video, the more depressed I get. I mean, geeze, we all assumed the situation was bad behind the scenes, but this? It's unforgivable. *shakes head*

I'm kind of sorry I even saw the vid myself although I found it interesting, and probably should have thought twice before sharing it. Kind of like finding out how sausage is made I suppose .
And I think they knew Joe was going to be the one to raise holy heck about the cast changes and were trying to smooth things over. Guess it didn't work too well.

                                Spoiler:
And would CJ honestly have been happier if JF had asked him if he grew up throwing things at certain people?
                                spoiled for sour grapes.
