Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread
I was waiting for those pictures to pop up, SK! Those naughty kids.
Night all!
I aim to please. *salutes*
Nighty-night, Sparkies!

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon.Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.
Good morning, fellow Sparky-shippers! I wish you nice and sunny Monday
I realized I have some free time, so decided to stop by, before finally leaving for my university...

i got history, Criminal Justice and English. Oh english is going to kill me that's for sure. stupid five page paper. *grumbles about english professors being jackals.*
Criminal Justice? Wow, I can hardly imagine it, but still I admire you
My subjects in this semester vary from Oriental cultures to the theory of teaching... and I wish we had more English, I suppose, as mine is far from perfect so far.
I'm looking forward to see many of those movies as well, especially Iron Man 3 which premiers in only 3 days and I'm going to see if I can see it by the end of the week or next weekend.
Lucky you! ^^ We also have to wait till the 2nd of May till IM3 premiere, like Scary Kitty

Haha, so was I!
My student is taking FCAT today (EOC for English) and I'm not allowed to use my own computer in the testing room, so I brought a notebook and a long pencil. *cracks knuckles* We'll see how much I can get done today.
There was one occasion (in the Prodigal episode) that Rodney seemed to have noticed something. John once again was voluntering himself to go on a suicide misson and Rodney alerted him about what he was about to do, but John just dismissed it by telling Rodney that this wasn’t the first time he was doing such a risky thing.
I'm glad we can all re-watch these together. Too bad we couldn't have watched them all together. At least we've watched them and squeed and then had heartbreak. What's that phrase? Better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all? Yeah, that's appropriate.
The agony of waiting, the thrill of the Sparky moments, the agony of disappointment...I was here for all of it and it was exhausting. But yeah, I wish you could have been around then. I still miss some of the old gang. Like Bama. She was unique. If you ever want to waste time reading some of the old posts, find some of hers.

Your English is very good. I think sometimes those who learn it as a second language, are better than native speakers. You didn't learn all the mistakes that have to be corrected.
I too am looking forward to Ironman 3. Mr. SR is getting together a group of his friends who want to all go together. I'm the only wife who likes those kind of movies, so it will just be me and several men to hold the door for me and buy my dinner. I like this plan.

John seemed even less approachable in S4-5 than earlier, so if anyone noticed he was different they might have been afraid to say so. Ronon might have, but I think he would be more likely to just let him work it out on his own. Teyla was distracted, as was Rodney, come to think of it, and there was noone else he seemed close to. John just withdrew into himself, did his job, took more chances than even previously and kept to himself. He still joked and was snarky at times, but it seemed to have lost some of its edge and came across as just being something he thought people expected from him. I can imagine everyone talking about
it behind his back, but they didn't want to risk getting their heads bitten off by approaching him.
Rodney tried to talk to him about his father's death, but John said he was fine and shut him down. Ronon just quietly went along with him and didn't say a word. The incident with Rodney's sister was also another time that Rodney just couldn't get through to him, and in a typical guy fashion, changed the subject to something light. All of this, added to losing Elizabeth, must have kept John awake most nights.

English isn't supposed to be my second language, but sadly French is no match... so they've switched places.

This is true. I am friends with a deaf woman in Sweden who knows English better than most Americans do! And it's one of four languages she knows. *shakes head* Tis true, the school system over here is cuckoo.
For example: SR, which of these is the correct phrasing?
"John and I at the park." "John and me at the park."
I've gotten so confused, I can't remember!

As do I! I need to find some friends to do that with!

I just remember how melancholy John looked when they were standing in her living room and Ronon brought up Elizabeth and the nanites. It looked like someone had just reminded him a family member died.

I have a bunch of theories as to why this is true, but the simplest is that they neglect basics to teach whatever is trendy and politically correct.
For example: SR, which of these is the correct phrasing?
"John and I at the park." "John and me at the park."

It depends. Taken as written, you've got sentence fragments. Correct versions would be.
John and I met at the park.
Elizabeth met John and me at the park.
The rule of thumb when deciding on me or I is to remove the other person. If what you have left is correct, then it's good.
Like in the above example, you would remove John and what you would have left is: Elizabeth met me at the park.
Easy peasy.

I'm like SW; I need to find a big group of friends to do that with.

And when John did sleep, it was probably mostly nightmares. It's an interesting comparison to see how John became far more of a lone wolf in S4-5, while Ronon started gravitating more towards connecting with people.

Oh wait. They did.
Grrr, indeed.

Now that you mentioned these points, i can agree that yeah, they totally count as signs in how people around John really noticed his change, i guess i have never analysed them that way, but they sure make sense. Now i can see that in several occasions his team mates tried to reach to him but he just dismissed them. I don’t know why but that part in The Prodigal was and is always the one that calls to my attention the most. But the points you mentioned do make perfect sense.
At first i thought he did, that he was trying to die. He was no longer caring about his own life. But then after reading other people’s opinions and analyzing this episode The Prodigal from another perspective, i can say that he wasn’t. If he was willing to die he would have insisted on the risky mission, and he didn’t. Because as soon as other options appeared he decided to go along with them instead.

Oh, thank you! I'm flattered to hear it... If only my English reachers could agree with you!
I can read in English pretty well, but when it comes to writing or speaking... Well. It's much to be desired sometimes... But I hope, the more practice, the better.
But, from the other side, sometimes you can make mistakes based on your native language; you believe that some grammar structures/prepositions/collocations, etc are quite similar in both languages. In some cases it works, but in others... faaaail.
That sounds like a very nice plan!
We also watch movies or go to concerts like this: a group of men and one...maybe, two girls.
