    Spoiler:
Well to me Atlantis Rising is Stargate Atlantis season 6, no doubt about it! So has anyone thought about writing fics, based on season 6?
I just might, for the fun of it.

No time to respond to all the great stuff, but i wanted to show off my sig. It's not Farscape (for Farscape themed weekend), but it's Ben Browder. Close enough, right?

Now this is my (confusing) attempt at answering Sparks of Atlantis's questions.

          Spoiler:
Life had meaning for John in a way that he wanted to be there to be able to protect Elizabeth and Atlantis, once Elizabeth was no longer there he changed his focus mainly to his friends and towards Atlantis, I believe that in his mind he thought he had to protect Atlantis, more than ever, because for sure that was what Elizabeth would have wanted and also for fear of loosing another one of his friends.

Before Atlantis I believe that probably life didn’t have much meaning to John, at least not his own life, but once John arrived in Atlantis, life begun having another meaning to him, he realized that a second chance had been given to him, so maybe his purpose in life changed slightly. He understood that his life in Atlantis would never be the same again, he begun seeing his life differently when he realised that someone was willing to give him a chance, when he realized that someone was finally trying to understand him and reach for him, when someone was there really trying to protect him and was there to care for him.

To John life would end once he would die, but he wouldn’t mind that much because he knew that if he would die protecting Atlantis and Elizabeth’s dream, he would know that Elizabeth’s dream (Atlantis) would survive, and he didn’t care about his own life as long as Elizabeth’s dream would be safe.

I believe that his hardest choice probably was when he decided to go after Teyla in spite of the fact he perfectly knew he didn’t do enough to go after Elizabeth, because of that he did his best not to make the same mistake again.

Life is definitely full of choices, and making the wrong choice can cause enormous repercussions and not always pleasant ones. John, sadly, had more than once had evidences of that.
And in a way John knew that, whether he accepted them or not, I think we will never be able to fully understand.

John truly thought that the world was hostile, that’s why he always did whatever he could to fight for what he believed to be right, in the best way he could and knew, in order to be able to survive in such a hostile world, even if that would mean breaking rules here and there.

The fact that Elizabeth was taken away from him and from Atlantis, made it seem that all the things he had done were not good enough for the world to become less hostile and in a way for the world to give him some kind of reward, in a way the hostile world did the opposite, it punished him by taking Elizabeth away from him.

I am not sure if he would always process the situation before acting on his instincts, he probably begun doing that once Elizabeth wasn’t there anymore, but before I don’t think he did that.

I think it's pretty clear how we're all pissed off at TPTW for not even showing an attempted rescue mission to save Elizabeth, but to justify John's reasons for not going back for Elizabeth, I do believe that he had thoroughly considered the risks of such a mission.
I totally agree with you on this. Sure we are all pissed off at TPTW for what they have (not) showed us, but seeing it from John’s point of view, I truly believe, that he definitely processed the situation before acting on his instincts, in my mind I believe the words Elizabeth had spoken to him in Rising (when he was trying to go and rescue Colonel Sumner and the others) were probably playing in his head, and that made him thoroughly consider the risks of such a mission.

Atlantis was already in a very weakened state after the Replicator attack and the move to the new planet, and I think John understood that the city just wasn't ready to go out and save the galaxy just yet; the timing was just not right, and the city had to keep a low profile.
I agree with all that you said, but once Atlantis was safe, hidden from their enemies, they could have at least made an attempt to go and check the Replicator’s planet, once again, just to make sure that there was really no sign of her, I mean they could have used the Deadalus to go near the planet and then once near it they could have gone to the planet on a cloaked jumper, just like they did in Sateda and like they also did when they travelled to Asuras in order to steal the ZPM, how hard would have that been, would it really have been that risky or riskier than any other mission, at that point?

Actually that is Farscape cause he's holding Winona which is John's gun in Farscape.

I have to read the edited version of Box of Dreams before I could write it. Almost makes me like the actors who never watched the finished episodes either.

So many great comments and posts in the last week and I haven't had the time to really read through all of them but some and they have been great read. I might go back and comment on some of them when I get the chance but though that I should at least say this much and post some late-valentine's day Sparky pics.

That's what I thought. Almost gave in an bought one from a catalogue I get now and then a couple of different times. But I have too many blades as it is not sure where I would have put it.
