Indeed! Whoever says that Elizabeth Weir was just a secondary character who could be easily replaced is just fooling themselves.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

      Looking forward to seeing it!

I may also have a few remarks/questions to pose as well. Stay tuned.

Anyhoodle. So my theory on why they ended up in space when the time machine activated?

Interstellar drift. It was 10,000 years ago. Doubt that Atlantis was in the exact same location back then.

That, or John and Elizabeth arriving sent a shockwave around the planet. What? It could've happened.

Well, as lovely as this was, I am in dire need of a nap. Just got a headache. And the cold/allergies/whatever the hell this is hasn't completely kicked the bucket yet.

          Be back later. WITH FIC.

Hmm, makes sense to me. I mean, if they can use interstellar drift to explain why they could only dial Abydos at first when they finally got the gate on Earth working, then I'd say it's possible.

Have a good rest ShipperWriter and I liked your theory, it's not something that I've thought about myself but it makes sense.

Well, I can do the pictures later because there are so many of them but here is a small thought that I was wondering when I saw the episode and that is the part when old-Elizabeth and young-Elizabeth are talking about her birthday and young-Elizabeth says something like “What did Sheppard tell you?” which should indicate that at some point Shep and old-Elizabeth were talking, maybe in private, I would love to know how that conversation went since it’s almost a bit obvious that something changed after that, especially the last balcony scene where it seem as if John wants to be there for her but doesn’t seem to know how.

What do you think about it? I guess it’s possible that he could have just shouted out “It’s Elizabeth’s birthday!” but it doesn’t seem very likely so do you think there was any missing scene with Old-Elizabeth that we didn’t get to see. I’m just curies what you guys think about it.

If someone does have anything to say about it I will check it out tomorrow because I’m heading off to bed now. Goodnight everyone.

Oh, I'm sure there had to be a missing scene somewhere along the line. I imagine someone was staying with OldLizzeh the whole time whenever she was asleep, and I can see John staying with her whenever YoungLizzeh had to go off and do "leader stuff," McKay was off checking out the gate addresses or other things having to do with the information OldLizzeh was giving them, or when Carson was taking care of other patients. John probably got his chance to talk with OldLizzeh at some point when she woke up before the others came back. Maybe he gave her a little gentle teasing about how good she looked for her age... OldLizzeh seemed to focus on YoungLizzeh working so hard, so John might have told OldLizzeh about everything YoungLizzeh was running around trying to get done. That sort of thing.

Anyway, have a good night, and pleasant Sparky dreams! We'll see you tomorrow!

Yep, from that line about John telling her it was her birthday, it's obvious he spoke with her at some point. I never heard anything about a missing scene or a deleted scene. I think we were supposed to just assume that it happened, and it's left to our imagination to guess how and when, which makes it even better.

A little treat for everybody. I'm still working on it. I don't like to post it until I have a "part" written, which averages at three chapters, but I jumped around a little with my last set, so there's just gonna be one huge chapter. With some -- what I think -- interesting stuff.

                      But enough about me. SPARKY!

                      Spoiler:
The sound of the wind rustling through the village awakened Elizabeth. The worst of the storm had passed overnight, and her nightmare hadn’t recurred. Her head was still on John’s shoulder, and she blinked in groggy confusion before she remembered how he had pulled her over last night to make sure she actually got to sleep a little.

To be honest, it was the best she had slept in a long time. It was a shame she couldn’t ask Carson to prescribe the handsome man to take her to bed each night.

She silenced a chuckle at the thought, and another one at the imagined look on Carson’s face if she ever brought it up. The Ambien didn’t really help her that much anymore; she still took it, following Carson’s orders, but the medication would only last for so long until it wore off in the morning and she woke up in a sweat, panicking after yet another nightmare, another bad night of sleep.

After a while, she had just decided on less sleep. Less chance for her dreams to turn evil on her.

John’s chest rose and fell easily as he breathed. She craned her neck to see if he was still sleeping and met his hazel eyes. “Morning,” he greeted softly, a ghost of a smile crossing his face.

“Morning,” she replied, almost shyly as she laid her head against his chest again. She brushed her cheek against the fabric of the black T-shirt that he wore, wiping away a rogue tear before she spoke again. Where did that come from? “When did you--”

“Right after you did,” he answered, pulling his arms a little tighter around her.

The diplomat knew that she should have pushed away. They needed to get up soon. There was work to be done. But the woman still needed the solace. The comfort that she got from being in someone’s embrace was a feeling that she hadn’t even realized she had missed until John had pulled her to him last night. But this was temporary; they had only gotten this close due to the pretense of being married, and they wouldn’t be on M51-936 for long.

So she pressed into his side again and looked up at him.

He was staring at the ceiling, but after a blink he looked back at Elizabeth. “You okay?” he whispered.

“Better than I was,” she let herself admit while her guard was still down.

He looked at her, a worried frown covering his face. “So … every time that Atlantis has a storm like that?”

                      She exhaled and nodded.

Then she cleared her throat, and the eleven year old girl who was scared of thunderstorms faded. She finally pulled away from John and laid flat on the bed.

Don’t let yourself get so close, Elizabeth. When you realize how temporary this really is, it will only hurt you.

John lay still for a moment, and she anxiously wondered if maybe he misunderstood what she did. Surely, he knew as well as she did that while the overnight nearness was needed and appreciated, it was temporary. She bit her lip in consternation.

He finally stretched, letting out a low groan, then let his arms drop to the covers with a thud. Then he sat up against the headboard and chuckled.

                      “What?”

John had a smug look on his face. “So two things got accomplished last night.”

                      “Oh?”

He nodded, adjusting the pillow behind him. “You got a full night of sleep, despite the storm.”

Elizabeth held up a hand, extending two fingers. “And the second?”

He chuckled. “I know what we can do for the Fa’torians that would make this a beneficial trade.”

Her eyes widened. “Really? And what’s that?”

                      John just smiled.

I thought it was ironic, in "Before I Sleep", that OldLizzeh first said, "Life is quick," then a few minutes later she said, "The best part of my life -- it's just beginning ... I have years ahead of me still."

                        Oh, Elizabeth.

                        Anyhoodle, in OT MaidOfHonor news:

My sister was shopping and found the bridesmaid's dress in a size closer to me, so I may be able to wear the dress I wanted after all! So happy!

                        Here's the dress:

He finally stretched, letting out a low groan, then let his arms drop to the covers with a thud. Then he sat up against the headboard and chuckled.

                              “What?”

John had a smug look on his face. “So two things got accomplished last night.”

                              “Oh?”

He nodded, adjusting the pillow behind him. “You got a full night of sleep, despite the storm.”

Elizabeth held up a hand, extending two fingers. “And the second?”

He chuckled. “I know what we can do for the Fa’torians that would make this a beneficial trade.”

Her eyes widened. “Really? And what’s that?”

                              John just smiled.
Nice fic SW. I can't wait to read the finished product. The maid of honor dress looks really pretty.
I tell you Teal'c, hockey is the coolest game on Earth!

Did you not say it is played on ice, O'Neill?

Got another ficlet to share. Its AU set five years after Enemy at the Gate with both Kate and Elizabeth still alive. I want to thank SW for betaing it and SK for being technican advisor since my orginal idea was bad science. It's mostly Kate/Teyla but there is a nice Sparky surprise in part 2.

                                Part 1
                                Spoiler:
                                Torren gets some answers

“Mommy?” called a five-year old Torren as he wandered into the kitchen.

“Yes?” chorused Teyla Emmagan and Dr. Kate Heightmeyer as they prepared snacks for Girls’ Poker Night.

“My non birth mommy,” clarified Torren.

“What is it, sweetheart?” asked Kate. She still grinned like a maniac whenever she heard Torren call her mommy.

“How did you and mommy meet?” asked Torren.

“You know what I do for a living, don’t you?” asked Kate.

“You fix people’s minds,” answered Torren.

“That’s right,” began Kate. “You see, not long after we Earthlings discovered Atlantis all those years ago and met your people, your mommy started having really bad dreams and started to lose sleep. She confided in Colonel Sheppard about that and he started to worry about her. Given what my job is, he decided to tell me in the hopes I could make her feel better.”

                                “And did you?”

“It took some convincing but yes, I think I made her feel better,” grinned Kate while Teyla smiled back at her.

“I was very angry with John for betraying my trust,” said Teyla. “But something made me trust Kate and want to confide in her. Eventually we discovered there was a Wraith in the city and that was the cause of my bad dreams.”

“Now that that is settled, how did I come to be?” asked Torren. “According to Dr. Jenny, two women can’t make babies together.”

“Well, I couldn’t accept my feelings for Kate for a very long time,” began Teyla. “Kanaan was a fellow Athosian. I had convinced myself that I loved him and not long after you started growing in my tummy.”

“Does he live with the rest of our people?” asked Torren. “I’d like to meet him.”

“I’m sorry, baby, but he died on Earth when you were about nine months old,” said a teary eyed Teyla as she remembered the horrible events of that day.

Nearly five years ago in the Pacific Ocean near San Francisco

“I still can’t believe we are here, Teyla,” said Kanaan as he paced near their bed, too excited to sleep. “A galaxy completely free of the Wraith. Do the people here have any idea how good they have it?”

“From what John and the others have said over the years, most of them don’t,” said Teyla from her side of the bed. “Come back to bed, Kanaan.”

“I can’t,” responded Kanaan, practically bouncing with energy. “The idea that I can move around a planet without fear of the Wraith has me too excited. I want to go out and explore every part of their world with you and Torren.”

“Why don’t you go and get some suggestions as to where we should go, Kanaan?” said a barely awake Teyla. “We can talk about it more when Torren and I aren‘t still trying to sleep.”

“Good night,” said Kanaan as he kissed his wife before leaving their quarters to find out where would be a good place to take his family.

She couldn’t help but smile at Kanaan’s enthusiasm and was almost back asleep when an explosion tore through a nearby corridor.

After pausing to make sure Torren was still asleep, Teyla raced out of her quarters in the hopes that she would find Kanaan nowhere near the site of the explosion or trying to help any wounded he saw.

Unfortunately, Teyla’s hopes were dashed once she rounded a corner and saw Kanaan’s broken body near what was left of a power conduit with one of the medical staff working on him. She would later learn that particular conduit was severally weakened during reentry and had developed a weak spot that suddenly gave way.

Kanaan,” called Teyla in anguished as she struggled against the iron grip of one of the Marines.

“Let Dr. Magnus do her job, ma’am,” said Lieutenant Zimmerman in what he hoped was a reassuring voice.

“I’m sorry, Teyla,” began Dr. Magnus once she noticed Teyla standing nearby. “There was just too much damage. He’s gone.”

Teyla’s responding scream of anguish actually rattled some ceiling tiles loose before she went numb and went back to her quarters to check on Torren.
