and I just read the past few pages and I couldn't agree more about how they treated Elizabeth/TH was horrible.

This is the fandom I actually post in mainly just lurk in others SG changed my life I discovered the SG fandom in 2006 after I discovered SG-1 and SGA in syndication and became hooked and got all the DVDs for both and watched on youtube.

I am actually in a debate with a bunch of Sam fans who hate seasons 9 & 10 in another thread
      .

      http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w.../JEAdrift1.jpg
I was reading that yesterday. If it makes you feel better, the last few times I've been out on the gen threads, I've ended up in arguements about uniforms. Wtf? I don't give a darn about what they're wearing.

This is the problem with GW at the moment. There is no new material for us to discuss, so everything that is posted gets analysed, then over analysed, to the point where you practically have to release a policy manifesto in addition to commenting on anything.

In response to the earlier discussion about negativity, that's part of why I generally only come here. I have considered walking away from GW a lot recently over this, its just not as much fun as it used to be. We discuss things here (I admit to being the most negative person on this thread), but because this is meant to be a pro thread, its not the focus of our discussions.

I also admit to needling TPTW over a number of their decisions. Its a bad habit, I should stop that. A pity really, IMO with a subtle changes, the show could easily have lasted six years. Individually, these writers are capable of writing amazing episodes, but their inability to plan things out turned out to be their downfall. Aaaaand here I am, back to negativity

      Random, but I found this.....

      Spoiler:

The lost city of Atlantis, once a symbol of hope in the Pegasus Galaxy, rested once again on the waters of Earth. In the 30 million years since the Ancients had originally discovered the planet, Earth’s landscape had altered significantly. What was originally a single land mass had separated, via the painfully slow process of continental drift, into many smaller continents, each with their own distinctive features. Some of them even harboured flora and fauna surprisingly similar to those found in the Pegasus Galaxy, while others possessed technology that, while a long way from rivalling that of the Ancients, was an immediate reminder that this planet was indeed a long way from that galaxy, and had been allowed to flourish without the pestilence that was The Wraith.

Colonel John Sheppard pushed the laptop in front of him away and proceeded to rub his eyes, letting out a frustrated sigh as he did so. I don’t know how she did it, he thought. No wonder she never slept. Having decided that status reports and repair projections could do without his attention for the moment, he headed through the control room and out to the balcony. At least, he tried to. The sound of his head hitting the door was loud enough for all in the room to hear, all stifling a laugh as they tried to look busy and oblivious.

“Chuuuuck!!!” Sheppard yelled, a little angrier than intended. “Why aren’t these working yet?”

“Sorry, sir. Dr McKay said that we’ll be experiencing intermittent systems failures for some time yet. He said that I shouldn’t bother him with such trivial issues while he is singlehandedly restoring the cit, to its former glory”

“He has a whole team of scientists and technicians that are probably doing just as much work as he is, but not making anywhere near as much fuss about it. I should’ve put Zelenka on it”.

      “He’s still away, sir”

“I know, I know” Sheppard responded. He motioned at the doors. “Can you...?”

“Yes, sir. Just a sec” Chuck removed the control panel, adjusting the crystals until the door sprang into life.

“Thanks” Sheppard acknowledged as continued out to the balcony. The city was in a surprisingly similar state to when they had discovered it. There were large portions still without power, and the lower levels were underwater. This time, the threat wasn’t the shield collapsing, it was the massive power requirements of running the cloak continuously. McKay hadn’t found a way to stop the city’s gradual descent into the ocean, and the IOA had ordered them to keep the cloak operational at all costs, since revealing the existence of both the Stargate and Atlantis was not an option they were considering. Sheppard mused that if McKay didn’t pull another rabbit out of his hat soon, then they’d have no choice but to drop the cloak in order to raise the shield.

Once upon a time, Sheppard had always felt comforted when he was on the balcony, looking over the city. It was a different feeling now. The almost carefree attitude he once possessed had evaporated after his return to Earth and subsequent promotion. He realised now that the baton of command that had been passed to him was more like a hospital pass – he’d seldom be allowed to go off world, and be buried under an ever increasing pile of paperwork and reports. Dr Weir had always made it look so effortless, even with being called upon to assist with various “mission of the day” scenarios. He understood now why he seldom saw her eating unless someone had brought it to her, and why it had been such a chore to get her to agree to have any of their “commander’s briefings” in the mess hall – it just wasn’t a productive use of time. Inevitably someone would have a question, or something that needed attending to, so he actually found it easier to stay in his office. Colonel Carter, while initially overwhelmed, had adjusted much quicker than him. However, he’d always gotten the impression that she’d quite happily stun him if it meant that she could take his place on SG missions. Richard Woolsey, on the other hand, seemed to relish the job and its enormity so much that he’d seemingly made it even more difficult for his successor, if that were possible.

Sheppard pulled at his jacket, trying unsuccessfully to remove the feeling of unease he felt simply by wearing it. The doors behind him opened; he turned, expecting to see Dr McKay. Instead, it was a surprise guest.

“At ease, Colonel” Carter ordered as Sheppard quickly pulled himself to attention and saluted.

      “Yes, ma’am. I didn’t realise you’d arrived, General”

“I’ve been here a while, I just didn’t want to meet with you until I’d made my assessment” Carter paused, taking a good look at her former 2IC. “That uniform does not suit you at all. You look like a reject from The Village People”

“Must’ve been why Woolsey left- he always did have a great singing voice. He’s probably performing at a Vegas casino right now” They both laughed at the ridiculousness of the suggestion.

....which I started writing, but didn't finish. I wrote some more chapters, which I still have to find (computer issues). It had it all - Teyla even shoots Elizabeth

I also found these while I was looking for that

      Spoiler:

Sheppard: 'Llllllizzzzzzzabethhhhhh, did youuu Irish up this coffeeeee or summing?

Weir: No, silly, I like my coffee the way I like my Lieutenant Colonels

Sheppard: How's that? Hot? Strong? Aromatic?

      Weir: No, silly. Inside me

Ronon: I don't trust Todd. His plan sounds a bit fishy

That's true. My sister and I can crack ourselves up laughing, and it makes us feel so good afterwards! Can't believe she's talking of being married this summer ... Wow.

Back in rare form I see. I hope you'll continue with that fic. I'm liking it so far. Just go back and take out the salute. The USAF doesn't salute indoors, and the balcony would count. *iz nitpicky*

Always count on Auntie SR to have her red pen handy. *smirk*

Anyhow, I will have three new chapters of fic to post tomorrow, probably after work. I'm chaperoning a fieldtrip that a few other adults have bailed on, so I'm responsible for about 20 kids. Will be stopping at Starbucks first thing in the morning.

              Good night, everybody!

That's very true. As much as some may not want to admit, well, Stargate is at an end, at least for the moment. Talking about What Has Come Before is all anyone can do. Other than playing games, of course.

Perhaps the armchair quarterbacking is a bad habit, but you hit it right on the mark when you said that all it would have taken was a few minor tweaks to keep the show viable. We've all said all along that what TPTW created did have the bones of a good story that all the fans could have enjoyed, it was just the shaky execution that kept it from meeting and surpassing its potential. I don't really see that as negative, it's just being realistic about how things turned out.

And your "random" stuff? Sheer brilliance. I do hope you'll continue with that ficlet you had first in the lineup someday, it's a great start so far.

Whatever you order at Starbucks, it sounds like you'll need to add at least a triple shot.

The only other forum I've been involved in was a Fleetwood Mac forum, and honestly that was just being crazy people most of the time. I do wish I'd saved the rewritten version of "Gold Dust Woman" I'd done that represented my at-the-time work experience of using a programming language called Cobol. It was hilarious. "Rock on Cobol woman..." Damn, wish I had saved it.

Sheppard: Uhhhh, Ronon, speaking of things being a bit fishy, have you seen what's on your head?
I have a lot of negativity over what happened in seasons 4 and 5. If I had watched the show while it aired and not been involved with fandom, I would have just stopped watching. That happened with Supernatural - I was obsessed with that show for awhile but then it started to bore me so I stopped. But since I'm involved with SGA fandom I'm going to talk about the things I disliked. But of course I wouldn't be so passionate about those dislikes if there hadn't been so very much that I once LOVED. We have episodes like The Storm/The Eye, and the Sieges, and on and on. That's the kind of awesome stuff that made me want the show to continue in that same height of brilliance. And I have to grumble because it could have kept going, but didn't.

About this fandom, it's been so awesome to "meet" all of you people. I feel like I have a whole bunch of new friends. And I'm going to be actually real life meeting a fellow Shep whumper in a few weeks, and also meeting Irish Eyes at the Chicago con. And hell, I'm going to a con. That is not something I would have ever considered before becoming involved in this fandom.

I shouldn't post after I take my sleeping pill cause I don't think I made any sense in this post. I'll edit it in the morning.

Crossovers between franchises are kind of an inherently goofy concept, especially when they are clearly incompatible but sometimes I can just use my imagination and just gloss over that part. Despite the similar protagonist name, I never really did that much with the Mass Effect series. But recently I kind of realized that this version of the character looks kiiinda like she could be the distant descendant of John and Elizabeth.

It’s fun to imagine if they hypothetically ever did have great great great etc grandkids they’d probably be as cool as her.
"First Weir, then Samantha Carter, and now, you! It's a pity you humans die or get reassigned so easily, or I might have a sense of satisfaction now!"

*You got the touch! You got the poweeeeer!*

                      "Arise, Woolseyus Prime."

                      "Elizabeth..."

Oh yeah, I totally see that. I call that the Sparky effect - that I see Sparky in everything and anything.

I have a weird correlation to a kids program that I'll post about later. I'm too tired now to get the info all together.

But anyway, yeah I can see her as a Sparky daughter. She's got both John's kick-ass qualities and Elizabeth's passion and use of words.

You totally made sense! Don't change a thing!

I've totally ditched NCIS this season, for much the same reason you mentioned for Supernatural. It's become borr-ring.

And I know what you mean about this fandom and getting to know all of you prompting me to get involved to the point of wanting to meet so many of you in person. I hope we can do that some day.

OMFG. That is so COOL! Definitely could be a distant descendant of John and Elizabeth. Though I think she tends more to the Sheppard side of the family.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

I agree with the myriad of others who have voiced their opinion on this: go to the doctor. Speaking from experience, there are a number of simple reasons for this to occur (blood pressure, diet, insulin levels, dehydration, caffeine intake.....) but it is best to know. I used to have a lot of them, but since I cut out the thing that was causing it, they're virtually gone. Win!

Crikey, how did I miss that? *facepalm* I should change that to 'stood at attention', or 'mock salute'. It was interesting reading that after all this time. I thought you'd comment about the poor sentence structure (it's shocking). There's also the the odd attention to detail - to borrow a JG criticism, the cow didn't just walk into the barn, she strolled casually in and noticed that the straw in the furthermost stall was soiled and in need of changing, so decided to pick another stall. This earned approval from the other two cows in the barn, whom she didn't bother communicating with due to their amusing looking horns.

*snorts* I saw that thread on a rare expedition outside this thread. *shudders* WTF, indeed.
I think if this were a verbal forum, things would be different sometimes. I took exception to a poster's tone. Petty, childish, yes I am

That's very true. As much as some may not want to admit, well, Stargate is at an end, at least for the moment. Talking about What Has Come Before is all anyone can do. Other than playing games, of course.
I think for any characters that we love on this thread, their run is over. Any Stargate from this point on will likely be a blended movie (which I don't care for, I'd rather see a 'pure' SG-1 movie as I think it's the format that best lends itself to a movie) or a complete reset. I'd prefer not to see either of these options, but I wasn't a fan of the idea of SGU and I liked the first season (have not seen the second yet) so they might surprise me again.

As has been alluded to before, I continued to watch until the bitter (that last ep was the best example of the decline in quality - some epic stuff, but poorly executed in extreme haste) end even though one of my favourite characters had been nixed. So there was obviously enough there to keep me interested, regardless of any ship preferences I had/have.

And your "random" stuff? Sheer brilliance. I do hope you'll continue with that ficlet you had first in the lineup someday, it's a great start so far.
                                Meh, it'll never be finished.

I can't imagine ever getting into another fandom, other than talking about a tv to people I see in daily life. Possibly its because I did still enjoy (for the most part) SGA until the end (there were some absolute stinkers in there too, don't get me wrong), rather than it continuing on past its use-by date like some other shows.
