I know perfectly well what you mean. Thermal silk undies, basically.
Except here 'undies' are just for ones nethers. Above the waist they have a different name. Ah, lingo, you amuse me sometimes

I kinda figured it was a bit of both.
    Kinda like:

Weir: ****! Don't shoot! But don't let him take me either! ****!

Honestly, if I had been in charge, I would've put my foot down and told JF to wear the pads on his chest so we wouldn't get mocked for not doing a defib right. Appeal to his sense of making sure we get the authenticity right. (and sure, you can go ahead and say it's just 'cause the chicks want to see his bare chest, but there's no denying that the authenticity argument is legitimate)
I'd have split the difference if it was that big an issue for him, and shot it from slightly below his chest height, looking slightly upwards. That way you could see Keller place the paddles on him but not be aware that there were no pads. And you girls would still get some skin, but not as much as you want

Me too, in real life she would have gotten a good talking to for that. Total disrespect for your commanding officer is frowned upon I don't care how big an idiot he is.

Now, for more Sparky moments in Rising. I count these two, even though they're not truly eyesex moments. In the first she grabs his sleeve and pulls him aside, which shows a lot of familiarity considering how new their relationship is. And in the second, it looks like she taps him on the behind. Even though I know she doesn't. Hee. Also we need to include both Champagne moments. The first when she lifts the bottle in a toast and the second toast on the balcony at the end.

      Spoiler:

Here are a couple of gifs from Rising.

Considering how clueless TPTW had been with other moments in the series, I'd have to say they were pretty clueless here too.

That sounds like a good compromise. I'd ask why TPTW didn't think of that, but I already answered that question earlier. Clueless.

Indeed. For that matter, she might well have gotten more than just a good talking to.

That second toast is rather interesting. The rubber band thing is already going on.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

He is one clever, crafty little bastich. After all, he did also choose to take Weir (and McKay) back to the Genii homeworld when he ordered his team to evacuate, and he's been rather good at bringing the subject of Elizabeth into his little "discussions" with Sheppard ever since. (Except for the aired version of Remnants, but according to Mallozzi, they did initially have a line in the script with illusion!Kolya twisting the knife about Sheppard letting Weir "slip through his fingers." Damnit.) Ohhh yes, Kolya is well aware that Weir is a weakness in Sheppard that he can (try to) exploit. *evil grin*
I had no idea about that one, I really wish they would have kept that in, it would have definatly helped John's part of the episode become even more powerful than it already was. It would have alos beeen a great way to really wrap the Sheppard vs. Kolya storyline once and for all since Kolya mentioned Elizabeth's name (or Weir) at least once everytime they bumped into him, and I think that it would have also been a great thing for John's character since the whole episode was about showing John's fears and what he concider was and/or would be his greatest failures to mention her, it would have also been ininteresting continuing on "The Storm" and "The Eye". Now I'm going to have a hard time seeing it without wishing that it was mentioned.

          Thanks for the fanfic links.

Believe me, we've all been wishing that since we first heard about it. By the time they got to Remnants, the lack of attention to Sheppard was just pathetic and so very obvious. There was also supposed to be some lines about his mother, but they cut that also. Anything that would have added character details was just left out, and they were so afraid of anything that would point to the Sparky relationship, that they didn't even want him to look like he was thinking about her. JF has said that he had to fight with them to get any mention of her included, even as far back as S4.

It really sucks, and I would have loved to have known more about John's mother but then again, it would have required the writers to have to dig deeper into the character and I dunno how willing they always were to do that, heck, you knew were little about any characters really and all of them could have needed more backstory that showed us how the characters have become the people they are, and sure we did get some random stuff here and there but hardly any of it was really important for the character.

One episode during season 5 was quite interesting when talking about Elizabeth was "Inquisition", and by interesting I mean that she was almost in it more than many of the other cast memebers, both by being mentioned but also by all of the flashbacks, heck, they even had Woolsey (though I wish that it was John) say in their defence how they lost someone really important (that would be Liz) and again just having that thrown in there was another thing that went against TPTB at the times when they acted as if she wasn't an important part of the show. Now it was a while ago I saw this episode but I remeber that it was something that I reacted to.

I keep going back and forth about what happens in that scene every time I see it. To me her expression when she walks away and his reaction both say Elizabeth smacked him on the rump. However, it makes no sense for her to do it in that situation.

I loved the fistbump scene. Just the "boys will be boys" mentality, I guess ... or a bonding moment for John and Carson, I don't know, but I agree. How can you be the military commander of a place like Atlantis, which doesn't have a thousand people running around, and be completely unaware that Major Teldy selected all women for her team?

Unless Elizabeth was keeping him busy and he just skimmed over his reports.

But going with that reasoning, it would have made more sense if both Carson and Elizabeth were at the window, and Keller couldn't save them both (or, either of them, as it turned out)
And make S4 even more angsty, as Keller starts off with a huge dark cloud over her head.

Costume department fail, again. I understand them wanting to make it obvious, but they could have simply taken his jacket off and done it directly on his arm. At least then he wouldn't look like a complete idiot. It's like they go out of their way sometimes to make characters look dumb when there are easier ways. Take the infamous scene in DG where Keller shocks Sheppard in the gut (which should have caused organ failure) because JF didn't want to put the sticky pads on his chest. All they would have needed to do would have been to either CGI the pads in, or only shoot Keller as she shocked him. Then she wouldn't have looked like a moron, problem solved.
*points at bolded words* Need I say more?

And JoeF, we wouldn't have minded a chest wax.

Ergo, the reason we write fanfic. We could do so much with Kolya and John, but they replaced him all too quickly with Todd. Which is great, I love their dysfunctional relationship, but Kolya hit John where it hurt. Definitely one of my favorite villains of any show.

True. We barely found out anything about his father, and that was only after he had passed away. Dave is still a mystery, although it seems he and John get along better now ... but again, there is so much there that wasn't used. Three years later, they could still be using this material ... oh well. We'll use it instead.

I haven't watched "Inquisition" in ... maybe ever? Need to watch. Now that I have all 5 seasons, I have a lot of catching up to do!

Because "Castle" PTB have acknowledged the relationship between their two leads and are playing it out in a normal manner, not hurrying anything, but not completely forgetting about it. "Serenity"? I have no idea.

How can you be the military commander of a place like Atlantis, which doesn't have a thousand people running around, and be completely unaware that Major Teldy selected all women for her team?

Unless Elizabeth was keeping him busy and he just skimmed over his reports.
Heh, yeah, I can see the 'boys will be boys' part, which is why I never had a problem with it.

Sadly, I got the impression that the all-girl team was a pretty recent development, so Elizabeth wasn't there to distract him from learning about it.

And JoeF, we wouldn't have minded a chest wax.
You wash your mouth out with soap, young lady! We like Joe's chest hair where it is, thankyouverymuch. And so does Lizzeh.

At the very least, I'd be running a 6-hour (or even 8-hour!) miniseries each year.

I know, right? In some respects, Todd almost seems like a VERY watered down version of Kolya.

Which just goes to show that JoeF probably should've been showrunner instead of who we got running it in S4-5.

Three years later, they could still be using this material ... oh well. We'll use it instead.

I haven't watched "Inquisition" in ... maybe ever? Need to watch. Now that I have all 5 seasons, I have a lot of catching up to do!
Yeah, after seeing The Eye this past weekend, I'm suddenly craving a bit of angsty!John.

As for doing stuff with Dave, who knows? Maybe we'll slip in a line or two into Atlantis Rising.

*snorts* Elizabeth would totally kick Rose's pansy ass.

                              And another deliberate repost...

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

In my AU world ... remember, I blamed Elizabeth as being the reason John was wearing the T-neck under his uniform. *smirk snort cackle*

*pets Keller* She's a character I grew to like. She did have some pretty good scenes. Even in "Brain Storm", which granted, I still like cause I still ship McKeller (just not as much as I used to), she threw some pretty good zingers at Neil Tyson DeGrasse and Bill Nye.

*gargles with mouthwash* What? I had to brush my teeth anyway. And the soap was right there ...

                                SGA mini-series would be awesomeness!

Yep. Todd was the Wraith version of Kolya, except he grew some semblance of a heart. Sad when a Wraith is nicer than a Genii.

And hey, sometimes the shows work really well when cast members are producers/writers. We all liked the episode ideas that JoeF was involved in, and I'm sure he would have done a great job in other facets.

I'm debating writing a oneshot introspective about the moment when John's standing on the balcony, under the new moons, in "Lifeline", before Sam walks out ... I'm craving it too.

Because gosh darnit, they're so CUTE!
                                SPARKY FOR THE WIN!!!

Heading to bed, got a long day tomorrow before 3 day weekend.

                                OT for "Fairly Legal":
                                Spoiler:
There are a ton of sci-fi actors starring and/or guesting on it! Michael Trucco, who played "Sam Anders" from "BSG", is a main character. The episode that was rerunning tonight had "Helo" from BSG as well as Ben Cotton (Kavanagh). I almost stayed up to watch and see if he could actually play a human being. Connor Trinneer (Michael) has Tweeted pics of him working on the show, so he'll be showing up soon too. And Kavan Smith (Lorne) just guested in last week's episode. I wouldn't be surprised to see some more of our favorite actors show up!

                                All right, night, everybody!
