gateraid, you are hilarious!!
Originally posted by Scary Kitty View PostNaw, I think that's what Chuck would probably play on citywide speakers after John and Elizabeth announce that they're getting married. With everyone in the city's betting pool singing along.
I have won the betting pool. May I have my chocolate stash now, please?
How did you win that? I had complex algorithms predicting their behavior patterns.
It may have involved some of Radek's.... what is it you call it... moonshine?
Radek!
I'll come by for my 20% of the pot.

And what the hell is the thing Elizabeth is drinking here?
Originally posted by gateraid View PostEspecially if the beam didn't do any real damage, but rather it infiltrated the city network while she beat up everyone in the control room. Mind you, it's easy to come up with 'what if' scenarios a few years after the fact. I hope this idea was discussed in the writers room though, I'd like to think they considered all their options. Given how the Carter coming to Atlantis idea evolved (and also the Carter/Odyssey scenario) it's possible they considered this then discounted it. It was partially covered with Teyla during Submersion

I had to intentionally repost that one cap because his smile there is so very lovely.
Originally posted by Southern Red View PostThat would be your metal rock/hard rock, whachacallit with lots of guitars that make your ears bleed and loud drums complete with screaming vocals that make no sense. As you can see, I'm not a fan. Anything else except rap is okay. The groom likes bagpipe music, which could be problematic for the rest of the guests.

I know there are some of you not on LJ, so I wanted to make sure you've read some of the latest stories coming out of the Sparky Advent Calendar.
Day 18 = Standing Beneath the Boughs and Berries by hr_musings. This story is too perfect for words. The character voices are perfect, the story is perfect, the end is perfect. YOU MUST READ.
Day 17 = i didn't ask for much (you gave me everything you had) by failgaidin. It's a Hawaii Five-O crossover but you don't need to watch that show to understand it. (I don't watch it, and it didn't impact the story for me). It's apoca!fic, which is always enjoyable.
Day 16 = Presents by xakliaaeryn. This story is a happy family fic. Perfect reading for today's theme! It will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.

And who actually cared about keeping the franchise viable for the foreseeable future.

The thing that always gets me about that scene is that the shield covers up the control tower LAST. It starts by covering up the piers and outlying areas. That makes ZERO sense. Silly ancients.sigpic

More fic! I'm gonna have to catch up with that later.

Silly ancients.Originally posted by gateraid View PostWhile from a security standpoint it makes little sense (with the control tower being the most sensitive area), it does if one says that the shield emitters are on the lower levels. The shield would eminate outwards from there. Ordinarily a few seconds would make little difference. Although when you account for it having to also go downwards to cover up the engines, it does seem like a rather large flaw. It was probably only done that way in FS so that there would be a slight delay between Rodney hitting the button and Elizabeth getting blasted by the window. If only she'd waited until the shield was raised(This is legal notice that any attempt to censor or delete, for the purpose of oppressing fair and open discussion, any statement made by me will be considered a violation of my right to free speech as guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, and will be dealt with in accordance with federal law.)
Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

The shields went up the same way (from the edges of the piers to the control tower) in The Siege Part 3, so really, they're just being consistent here. The idea of the shield emitters being on the lower levels seems like a logical explanation, at least as far as explaining why the shield goes up the way it does.
The Empire Strikes Back was on TV today. Han/Leia was probably my first ship as I was only a little one at the time of that film . Hmmm.... diplomat type and cocky flyboy type who banter and flirt? I was so doomed to love John/Elizabeth.

I was kinda young around that time, but I've seen the reruns. Me three on the Joe & Torri remake!
Last week we were talking about the emotion of Adrift showing a new side of the J/E relationship. How about GitM then? Joe rocked that one out of the park. I <3 you, Joe.

Originally posted by JT-2 View PostWe gotta make this happen. Well, first we have to get Joe and Torri at a US con together. Then a remake. Then world domination.

OMG. I bawled my eyes out at that final scene in GitM. Joe is just so damn good.
That last one, where he's standing there at the gate all alone..... it goes back to the end scene of Siege 3 where John is standing alone at the gate after Ford leaves. Elizabeth comes up and tries to comfort him. But now John doesn't have anyone to do that. He's standing alone.
And poor John becomes darker and darker. Poor boy thought he was going to get his Lizzie back. "What if one of them decides to stay?" He was so cautiously optimistic, and Woolsey totally got it.

Deliberate repost of the last one, because it totally PISSES ME OFF.
Originally posted by JT-2 View PostMe too. I can't watch that scene and NOT cry. And I don't cry easily. There are maybe 5 scenes in movies/TV that make me cry no matter what, and this is one of them.
