I know what you mean. And they say we are unreasonable. LOL I guess saying that's the way it is because that's the way I want it isn't good enough for some people.

Like SK's sig says, it's a free speech thang. And I've been around here long enough that I no longer tolerate anybody trying to tell me my opinion doesn't matter or is incorrect. Call me a cranky old lady, but I'm proud of it. In fact I may just choose to cultivate that persona.

A couple of little icons I made between doing at least 8 Advent entries (for 3 different threads ) and 2 Secret Santa's - let's hope my Art muse stays awake!!!

*snerks* We're a heckuva lot more reasonable than some.

I've always been an angry redhead, but I've kept repressing it so as to not scare people. I suppose I should just embrace it.

Beautiful work! I imagine your muse will stay wide awake with such inspiring pics to play with.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

My aunt wanted me to cook her a birthday dinner tonight. I am not a cook. I've always thought Elizabeth wasn't a cook either. It's my own personal canon.

Do you guys have any personal canons? Meaning, ideas you have about the characters that aren't based on anything specifically in the show.

Hmm, personal canon? I'm not sure that I do. I'm sure some subliminal things come out in my fanfics. I'll have to think about that one. And I tend to agree with you. I don't see Elizabeth as much of a cook.

I don't think I really have any personal canon that isn't show-based, either. Everything's pretty much stuff that I've derived from something in the show or based on comments made by writers/producers. Though I also do think of Elizabeth being not much of a cook. Hmm, how weird of a coincidence is that?

Clearly, great minds all think alike.

I've got another one. John was a math major in college. What??

                    Heh!

John as math major? Yeah, I can see that. Though I'd probably call that one show-derived personal canon, along with my theory that John studied aeronautical/aerospace engineering. Hey, he was the one who came up with the idea to combine the equipment winch and cable with the magnetic grapple and install it on a jumper to go rescue McKay in Grace Under Pressure. Could've been Mensa, baby!

Even if he called it a wench?

I can see engineering as well. (That requires a lot of math, you know. What?? Broken record, you say? Hmm, I wonder if kids even know what the phrase means anymore.... damn, now I feel old. )

And suddenly I have the mental image of this becoming some sort of private joke with John and Lizzeh with her teasing him mercilessly.

Could be worse. Right after I graduated from college in 2000, I had to show a kid how to use the rotary phone in the pressbox at my old high school.
I tell you Teal'c, hockey is the coolest game on Earth!

Did you not say it is played on ice, O'Neill?

That actually makes sense. I don't have any personal canon that I like, but I can think of a number of things that bother me to no end. Like having John be an academy grad. That just makes me LOL. He'd never make it through all the restrictions. Not to mention the daily inspections. And having John not eat enough. That's an old one that pretty much went away when it came out that Joe is a hearty eater but just works it off.

That reminds me of my grandmother, who never stopped calling the refrigerator the "icebox." LOL

One that always gets me is people having John say he knows pi to a big number of digits. Being a math nerd doesn't mean you'd have that memorized. But that's just the mathgirl in me. I recognize that non-math people may not realize that.

Oh, and we discussed this awhile ago... how everyone has Elizabeth being cold and John being warm. Yes, by the law of averages that's probably true, but it makes me laugh how it's so often used in fic.

My mom and aunt have used that phrase as well.

I have to cross post this. Pocus wrote a cute fic for the whump challenge of sending John get well cards. There's a cute Elizabeth part:

                                http://abracah.livejournal.com/53425.html#cutid1

That's why I changed back to my old sig.

Hope you don't mind, Pocus. It was just too cute to not share.
