Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread
why do people keep adding onto the same post? this post started in 2004 are you kidding me? I have to read through nearly 7 years of posts? 0.0 Can't there be some kind of updater where after every 200 posts they archive the last page and the second page becomes the first page.. or etc.. ... just curious..
You'll have to fight John for her. Welcome to the thread!! Warning - there's spoilers for all the seasons all over the place in here. Be careful.
John will win. Nobody is taking his Lizzeh away from him.
That said, welcome to the Sparky thread, Phinguyver! Just remember to steer clear of John. He's the jealous type.
And with that, it's time for this little kitty to head off to dreamland. Nighty-night, Sparkies, and pleasant dreams!

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon.Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.
Her age went against her as well. A CMO, super geneticist, surgeon, etc. in her mid-20s? Puh-leeze. Then you had the inconsistencies. In Quarantine she talked about not having a normal time in school but then in Trio she talks about drinking games. Well, which is it? *cough*Character bible*cough*
They seemed to cut back on all the extras in seasons 4 and 5. Heck, it was only Sam and Rodney fixing that ship (whatever it was named). The drop in extras made for some pretty funny stuff. The intro to Sam scene in Reunion had so few people it made me laugh and think that the people of Atlantis were as excited about her arrival as I was.
Spoiler:
The drinking games thing I can understand, although I'm not sure when she said she learnt them (Trio isn't one I've watched much ). I didn't drink much at uni but I know of a few, and have picked up more as the years have gone by (NB they work best if there is a weak link to pick on, preferably someone who vomits easily). But it seems like retrofitting the character, rather than something that would have occurred in the normal course of things. To be in her position at her age, she'd have to be a super nerd, certainly less well adjusted than Rodney.
*snort* @ the Reunion scene. What about in S & R where they were fixing the ship - where was the engineer and his/her staff? For that matter, since when do two scientists come up with an attack plan?
Yay. \0/ Where did you find a thread on this show? I looked at TWOP and *shudder*. Those people always confuse me. I guess it's not "cool" to actually like a show, but to be trendy, one needs to pick it to pieces.
Sorry for all the OT. Now back to Sparky, which is always trendy. Sorry, I've run out of big ones.
I have no idea what they're saying in that scene (yes, my 88% was a fluke), but the looks they're giving each other are golden
I thought Keller was fine in First Strike and Adrift, but her fish-out-of-water routine in Missing just killed it for me, and the girl-genius-doctor act they tried to pull with her didn't help matters. It took a while (and fanfic that wrote her better than she was on the show) for me to start liking her again.
If only some fans would've given Elizabeth that kind of second chance that I gave Keller...
Ah, a little OT once in a while is good. Keeps things fresh.
As to Sparky... Squee, it's a sitting on the desk scene! *flails* Darnit, how do they look so sexy doing that!
Spoiler:
It's a wonder (I know it wouldn't have worked due to shooting schedules and what not) that it wasn't Carter instead of Keller in Missing - first chance to meet the Athosians and what not. It would have made more sense to go then than it would have in Reunion.
I just don't see why they thought the insecurity angle would work when they'd already covered it. Even the scientist in The Defiant One adjusted quicker than she did
SR - it's here in the General TV folder. But right now it's just me and 1 other person talking.
Elizabeth is simply too awesome for some people.
I LOVE that scene. First, it proves they didn't only talk to each other about work. John came in there to tell Elizabeth about Zelenka's painted face. He wanted to amuse her. "C'mon Lizzie! Come and see - it's so funny!" Not only does he sit on the desk, he leans over it towards her and gives an adorable expression. And Elizabeth doesn't bat an eye which gives the impression this is something he does often.
Oh and earlier in that episode he came up and leaned over her shoulder to see what she was doing on her computer. He had no idea what she was looking at until then. Maybe he thought she was playing chess and wanted to play a game with her. He certainly did a huge obvious lip lick before he talked to her in that scene.
But back to that end scene. If they really wanted to push a certain other ship, then shouldn't the episode have ended on a private talk between the two of them in which comfort was offered about Charrin?
Yep, although given that the Teyla/Athosian arc was essentially the B-story in that episode, I guess they didn't have any choice but to wrap up their A-story. But, they could have spread Charrin's ashes somewhere *shrugs*

No
Welcome to the thread It isn't archived because there isn't really any need for it - one can skip ahead (or backwards) to whatever point they desire.
Hello and welcome. I have been reading your other thread and loving experiencing the show through a newcomer's eyes. I'm glad you decided to drop by here. If you already are curious about John and Elizabeth, you will love season 2.

Welcome. I've never seen anyone ask that question before. LOL It's not really adding to the same post. It's taking the idea of the first post and expounding on it. If you read a few pages here and there, you will find all kinds of discussions both relevant and irrelevant. Irreverent too. We have a lot of fun celebrating all that is Sparky related.

Er... that's what a discussion board is. I'm just curious, there are a few other threads that have been running even longer than this one has, is there any reason why you're singling us out?
A Bridge over troubled waters? *headdesks at bad joke*
Personally, I thought it was a rather appropriate joke.

I tried to add that sentence ("Elizabeth is simply too awesome for some people") but I couldn't fit all those words on an icon and have the words still be visible. Ideas on how to shorten it?

Spoiler:
I watched Trio once and vowed to never watch it again. It was painful on an epic level. It'd be fun to rewrite that one with John/Elizabeth/Rodney. Now that could have been awesome fun. (And Rodney would never tell Elizabeth to flash her chest. And even if he did Elizabeth would give him the eyebrow and Rodney would apologize right away. And John would get angry.)
Trio and Brainstorm are pretty much the only episodes that I refuse to ever see again unless we were drinking Mr. SR's sangrias while on Sparky island and mocking them.
Yeah, that scene in S&R with Sam and Rodney fixing the ship all by themselves was funny too. (And funny that when Sam gives in to John it's fine, but if Elizabeth did it's because she's a horrible character. Funny how that works, isn't it? /sarcasm)

Spoiler:
I was watching The Eye this morning and I'd forgotten how insecure Carson was in that one. But then there's Poisoning The Well or Before I Sleep where he is simply awesome. Keller had the horrible moments but then her "good" moments (Adrift) were merely adequate. I think that's the difference for me. Well, and the fact that Carson didn't have anywhere near the screen time that Keller did. And I have the proof of that.
Gotta get myself on topic here. Here's some super flirty Sparky. They could use this scene in acting school to teach about subtext. The words are nothing. It's how they act them.

You could make it one of those animated icons. Break the line up into sections of a word or two each, and have each section flash for a few seconds before going to the next, until the sentence is complete. Or something like that.

Geeze, can you imagine Joe and Torri running an acting class? Or at least, being special guest speakers at one? Holy smokes!

There's gold in those 7 years... but I never read all of it...so, just guessing...

Spoiler:
Trio probably would've worked better if they'd been stuck somewhere on Atlantis, although given that that was the premise of Quarantine, I guess they had to do something else. It may have been a little more credible if it were Carter, McKay and Zelenka stuck in the 302 bay. Plus the Herminator
That extra thing became ridiculous in S & R - if Carter was so concerned, at the very least she could have sent over some marines, or even the combat engineers and sundry other officers that were on the planet, to make sure the mission was successful. And yeah, he completely disregards what Carter is saying there, but it's all fine in some people's eyes.

Spoiler:
Not to mention Poisoning the Well, his first major episode, was medically based. I wonder, had RL not been pregnant (requiring a jiggling of the storylines) whether it wouldn't have been John with her in Missing.

Except that by that time the Asgard had all gone extinct. Well, save the rogue Asgard in Pegasus, but no one knew about them yet.
Yes, it's all in the eyes. Which reminds me of this fic, A Good Pair of Eyes, by Eri13
Ah, that's such a good fic! Thanks for reminding me of it, I needed the laugh!

Thanks, SK! *hugs back* Sooner or later I know I'm going to find my happy place again, other than here, that is. I'm just getting tired of feeling like the universe is using my private parts for batting practice.
On that merry note, welcome to the the Sparky thread Phinguyver.
I tell you Teal'c, hockey is the coolest game on Earth!
