I'm looking for a fic and hoping you guys know a link.
It's set after The Eye and has some steamy Sparky doing it in a supply closet (I think). It's so close after what just happened that their clothes are still wet.
Does anyone know? Thx!!

WANT!!!!! Someone please, write this!!!
I am NOT writing this, I've got too much else on my plate. So I'm joining in the 'someone write this please!' bandwagon.

Damn, that sounds really familiar. My brain is so fried right now that I can't ID it. Maybe you could ask on the John/Elizabeth LJ comm?

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

Nevermind, Kris, I found it.

It's Reaffirm Life, by irony_rocks.

Happy smutty Sparky reading!

On a more serious note, I thought I could share a snippet. i can't remember if I shared this one, or not - this is from my Season six episode, Box of Dreams, where Teyla is going through/living in different alternate realities, which are based on decisions she made differently than we know from show - canon. it should be a what - if episode, that plays with the question of Teyla's identity and things important to her.

A small note, this scene is in latter half of the episode, and you might want to know that the more time Teyla spends in her "box" (ancient device that's enabling to make different decisions/change her life) the more she's forgetting about her actual life on Atlantis. At the end, she will have to make a choice and change something, in order to come out of the "box".

Mind you, this is Teyla/John scene. As in Teyla/John scene. In Sparky season six. Do you dare reading?

Spoiler:
She woke up to the sound of thunder, jerking awake. It took time to realize that she was in her own room, her own bed. The foggy feeling of dizzyness was familiar. Teyla looked around, knowing the room should have felt familiar too, but missing the sense of genuine belonging. Her eyes lingered in the corner where a comfortable looking chair was placed, and she wondered if sitting in it was really as good as she imagined it to be. She felt unsettled, trying to remember her dream – it was a strange dream – when she heard sounds from the bathroom.

“Teyla?”

The voice was both concerned and familiar, and when John walked out, wearing something that must have been sleeping wear, Teyla became acutely aware of the vacant spot in the bed next to her.

“John?” she breathed, feeling confused and exposed in this position – yet she felt her own heart racing faster.

“A nightmare?” he asked, just standing there and watching her. Teyla pulled the bedcover above her breasts instinctively, because this -

it didn't feel right.

“John, what... what are you doing here?” she asked, pulling her feet slightly away.

“Sleeping?” he said, giving her a questioning look as he moved to climb into the bed. “Teyla?”

“Sleep? With – with me?”

“Teyla? Are you okay?”

“I think – I feel dizzy,” she said, looking at him in bewilderment. He sat close to her and moved his hand to cup her face in his palm – a warm gesture he was obviously familiar with, and when she tensed she could see alarm in his eyes.

“Teyla what's the matter?”

She swallowed tightly, grasping for memories, sensations, things she knew, things she should know, but failed to explain this intimacy to herself. It didn't feel unpleasant, but it felt unfamiliar and out of place, and all she wanted is the dizzyness to go away.

“John,” she removed his hand from her face, grasping for that little she was certain of – that they weren't this, weren't lovers. However his reaction was just the opposite, judging by the way he was looking at her.

“What's going on?” she could hear a tinge of hurt coloring his voice, and felt the pain in return because she never wanted to hurt him.

“John,” she looked into his eyes, realizing that the familiarity of them, too, was fading from her grasp. “I do not know how to say this... I do not believe I remember this, John,” she said, realizing she was still holding his hand. She just needed to hold onto something and John looked back at her warmly, determinately. Perhaps he could help her find out what was going on.

“Want me to take you to Carson?”

She nodded, and before he could pull her up and out of the bed, she pulled his hand back.

“John,” she said. “I think I am forgetting.”

“Forgetting?”

She nodded.

“Yes. I want to stop forgetting,” she whispered.

John squeezed her hand,

“Come on,” he said urgently.

I know this was a few pages ago now, but I just wanted to say the fact that you guys are writing this sort of thing is something I'm very very impressed with.

Every so often while searching the web I stumble across a conversation that is some sort of piece of a random shipper war of some kind in some franchise. Even when you try to avoid them, you can't help notice them occasionally because they tend to come across as some of the most ridiculous of flamewars on all "the internets". And they all seem to be the same, they all seem to share the exact same terminology and the exact same sort of mean spirited arguments.

And someone they seem to be about everything, even things I never would have imagined if I didn't already know better.

Like Power Rangers. Power Rangers of all things. I was Power Rangers fan when I was 10 years old. Back then I sort of vaguely grasped that two of the characters were dating but didn't think much of it. But it's not hard to find amazingly intense arguments over which character should have ended up with who from the early cast during season fifteen years ago.

That's just one example. It seems to spread to almost all forms of media. I was even surprised at how fanatical the arguments will get for comic or book characters too.

I think there is some sort of universal aspect of the human psyche at work here because no matter what new type of this situation pops up, the over dramatic augments will follow. I saw another one begin for a newer show, and its all exactly the same. Apparently if protagonist doesn't pick Person Y over Person X, it's obviously the biggest outrage of stupid since forever or something.

The reason I bring this up is because having seen yet another such shipper conflict I wanted to say that the fact that Atlantis Rising will have the rival pairing represented with that level of grace speaks very well of of how reasonable you folks all are.

And I even kind of liked the scene.
"First Weir, then Samantha Carter, and now, you! It's a pity you humans die or get reassigned so easily, or I might have a sense of satisfaction now!"

*You got the touch! You got the poweeeeer!*

I even kind of loved your post and wish I had time right now to reply. I may come back to this later today if no one minds because it is a very important part of what we are and how we hope to represent ourselves to the rest of fandom. I feel an essay coming on. Would you mind if I quote this post on LJ? Most of what I want to say would be off topic here.

Awww! Well, when we brainstormed that episode--and this entire series, actually--it was with the understanding that SGA is much greater than what 'we' like most. Sure, we have our own part of the world we favor, but I think we can also recognize that many other fans enjoy many other parts.

I know when SR came up with the idea of SGA Rising, my hope was that it would be something that would appeal to a majority of fans, because I knew we had the writing, the talent, and the intelligence to be able write a follow up well. Not just one that satisfied the Sparky itch--because truthfully, good writers have tried that in various formats and succeeded--but one that could be a fan-answer for many fans, written in a way that was believable by more than just J/E shippers. Because we do have the people who can do it.

Once we started brainstorming Teyla's story, the inclusion of an AU about John was important to me because I don't pretend that there wasn't tension and relationship teases built there. How much or how little is open to interpretation, but from a canon standpoint, he's an important part of her life and that potential needed to be addressed. Canon answers the questions about Teyla's future for us, if we follow it down the path it was set up to go, but her past and her feelings should have and need to be addressed.

I'm super excited Anuna's writing this story because I know she can do raw emotions really well, and I know she will do all the ship stuff in a way that will make you want to read it--and like it, too. I don't know if it's out of her comfort zone, but I do know she'll give 100% to make sure the relationship is felt and believable, with due credence to what would have made J/T work if the writers had chosen to go there. And then why in the end, Teyla ended up the way she did despite that.

But as a shipper, from my own POV, I believe it's important to understand and respect the feelings of other shippers. Yes, sometimes you run across the ones that are hard to deal with, but many just love their pairing as much as you love yours--and can often offer support for it equal to what you can offer for yours. In honor of them, I think, is why we're going to go here--and for a story that focuses on how Teyla's life could change, it's a no-brainer that this needs to be a major part of it. I feel like in writing our stories we're not only aiming to continue what the writers started, but to fill in holes and gaps that we feel needed to be explained and written about.

I'm so glad we're doing it!

Go Go Power Rangers! (sorry, couldn't resist. Hey, I used to watch it, too! And I'm not going to ask who your pick was in the Kimberly vs. Kat debate. )

In all seriousness, it's because of the touches like this acknowledgment of Sheppard/Teyla possibilities that I am very hopeful about how fans from all sides of the fandom will respond to Atlantis Rising. Sure, it's great to write fic for your own personal choice, but this is going to be so much bigger than any one faction, and I think that's what will ultimately make AR better than the other post-EatG stories out there, both fan-written and even the licensed-by-MGM stories. I've certainly written my own Sparky version of Season 6, but I look at what we're trying to accomplish in Atlantis Rising, and I realize that AR is the Season 6 that I've truly been waiting for. I feel very privileged to be a part of it.

OMG, this Power Ranger talk is making me feel ancient. My first ship was probably Marshall Dillon and Miss Kitty.

Anyway a bit of OT good news.
Spoiler:
We spent the morning getting Mr. SR's heart probed and at least that organ is fine. The doc said his aorta is "pristine". So that's not the cause of the stroke. Monday we meet with the neurologist for further test results. *fingers crossed* And he got the really good drugs which he is now sleeping off. I wish they could have given me some.

I so agree with both Eri and SK. This SGARising project could so easily have been just another Sparky reunion but we are determined to stick to canon no matter how painful. Most of us are not fans of McKeller and would like to put Carson right back as CMO but that would not fit into the canon that, no matter how much we abhor it, TPTB created.

And the parts of canon that we, as Sparky shippers, don't like can't be ignored either or changed so drastically that it's like we're writing an AU. We believe in dragging things out into the light and dealing with them in a rational way that hopefully will not offend anyone and will make even the general fans want to read our stories.

I think as news gets out that just because it's being written by Sparky shippers doesn't mean SGARising will be chock full of Sparky ship from the first episode more and more readers will materialize.

Just as an aside, I realize Jo Graham isn't a real favorite in the thread, but she posted some speculation about Elizabeth's backstory today(as part of a discussion on John's story), if you are interested:

Spoiler:

...Class is one of the things we don't talk about in the US, and yet it's always there, always part of the picture. Perceived social class is incredibly important, which may or may not be tied to money. It's possible to have a relatively modest income and yet be upper class.

For example, surely in her former career with NGOs in DC, Elizabeth Weir did not make a large salary. (I worked for NGOs in DC for five years, and I can tell you that they do not pay well!) And yet Elizabeth's dress, diction, manner of speaking, hair, interests -- everything -- indicates a relatively high social class. One would expect that she attended an excellent private university, did her graduate work somewhere equally notable, and grew up in a home where she was exposed to music, literature, and serious conversation about the social and artistic issues of the day. Her accent is Mid-Atlantic, and she speaks for the camera (in Letters from Pegasus) like one who has had the kind of communications training that NGOs offer senior staffers.

I think I've seen that before but still love it. It makes a nice bookend with my Storybook Love one. LOL

And love that last scene when they can't help but look at each other to gauge the reaction to Caldwell's comment and then cringe in embarrassment. Oh John, where's your poker face?
