Me too! I've been thinking for a while about how SG-1 had such an iconic symbol in Earth's point-of-origin glyph (the upside-down V with the circle over it); so iconic that it was adapted into the series logos for both Atlantis and Universe. But neither Atlantis or Universe ever seemed to have a similar symbol that was really their own. Atlantis had the expedition patch of the Pegasus leaping over a gate chevron, but even that seemed too connected back to the Earth symbolism. So what better to really represent Atlantis than... Atlantis itself.

Plus, the thought of the airmen and marines serving in Atlantis nicknaming the city 'Camp Snowflake' totally cracks me up.

I am soooooooo tired, it's very late and I can't sleep, so I'm try to spend some time on PC to get sleepy ...

I was thinking about the Ebook covers or art for episodes. If you want to use a common template this could be an idea:

-the point of origin on Atlantis Stargate is this one

-this is just a draft, we could use the triangles for the images to be different every episode (if one triangle is too small, use a set of 3 for each image = bigger triangle)

The problem is that it's illegal, even if we're all being illegal together. Disclaimers are nice but they don't protect you. It's kinda like saying that everybody speeds. Yes, pretty much everyone who drives speeds at one point or another and it's never a problem--until you get caught. You can't argue 'well, everyone else is speeding' to a cop. You have to pay the fine.

The poor girl who was the target for the music downloading case, and got sued by the major record companies, was the example amid hundreds of thousands of people who illegally downloaded music and never got caught, sued or sent notices. She was the example they used to get everyone else to stop doing it and she got laid with a hefty fine for it.

And while we may never, ever hear from anyone about anything we do--and I hope that's the case!--for me it's just better to be safe than sorry. E-books are a relatively new medium in the web world and being that they sell stuff for profit, it just seems prudent to me to be cautious.

Yes I definitely agree that being safe is the best way. There is a lot if illegality in copyright infringement and it's getting a lot of attention these days. Who know who they will go after next to make an example of. I don't want it to be us if we have an alternative.

And these are good templates for some of you artsy types to use to make us something that won't get us in trouble. Fan manipulation of images from the show may not be as much of a lightning rod as the actual graphics they have paid people to design.

Just as an aside, I've been rather curious to know where the Stargate Wiki got that symbol, since the point-of-origin patches worn by crewmembers on the Daedalus (and the Apollo) show a completely different symbol.

Here's a set of Daedalus uniform patches that was recently auctioned by Propworx (the round one under the 1st. T.F.W Wraithwaxers patch is the one with the Lantea point-of-origin):
