Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread
And . . . you just lost points there, mate.
Dogs drink out of the toilet *yuck*
Ok, you gained some points back with that one
As for the call for writers, I will say I've done plenty of writing in my day, both professionally (non-fiction mostly) and fanfiction for fun. But, I don't feel comfortable volunteering to tackle an ep because I don't think I have all the subtle nuances of the characters down yet. I would want to watch the entire series all the way through at least twice before I even thought about that. And there's still a handful of S5 eps I haven't even seen once.
However, I am more than happy to volunteer to beta. I think I have a particular knack for helping a writer past a road block or helping a writer re-frame a scene or rewrite some dialog that s/he is unhappy with.
So, if there's a beta pool around here somewhere, feel free to put my name in it.
Question: How are you guys going to handle continuity? Will different writers be working on different eps at the same time? Or does each writer wait until the ep in front of theirs is published before starting work on their own?
As for the hallway/transporter debate re: Weir's office, if anyone needs a transporter to be there, you could just say it's right outside the door in the hallway.
*snorts* Continuity is all we've been doing for the last 3 months.
Seriously, we've all brainstormed all the episodes for months making sure the storylines 'click' and that we all understand where we're starting from and where we're going.
I think the last little bit will be up to our beta readers to make sure we don't pull 180s on our characters. I know as I go through and write my episodes, I'll be updating our writers, perhaps on our LJ, of my progress and what I'm doing with characters so they can see.
We may also want to show our 'episodes' to the writers immediately following when we've finished good rough drafts, so they can see where we're at. We're going to work hard to make sure that this all fits together and blends well.

So cute, you'd never guess that she'll bite your finger off as soon as you stick it in there!
With the line on her back she could possibly pass as a lemming *g*
I think they are about the same size. I was thinking about getting a lemming instead of a hamster but then decided on the hamster, because you have to keep them single, with the lemmings you've got to get more than one.
I can't seem to find the button to register on the SGA-rising homepage... I'm stupid.

We've been discussing continuity and how each episode will progress to the next pretty extensively over the past couple of months or so. We won't be waiting until the previous one is up before starting to write the next one, otherwise there will be too long of a break between episodes. We want to have a good chunk of them finished before we start posting.

*nods* That's what I said (yesterday, I think?). It looks from the screen caps that the hallway outside the mystery door is big enough that there could be a transporter back there just out of view.

Mine ran in a wheel for hours on end. Her name was Roseline. Unfortunately for me the animal chose to die on my birthday, and worst of it all she died in my hands (didn't squeeze her to death if that's what you're thinking).
Hamsters never lasted long in my house especially when my son had them(he was 5 the last time he had one). He once accidently closed the hamster cage's door on ones neck and killed it. He also had a another hamster that kept passing out; he was playing with it and it would go limp and i thought he killed another one , but then it would wake up once i prodded it a bit. It was probably terrified of my son and passed out in terror.
The Atlantis Rising site looks beautiful so far guys. And Kris, if we want to register for it, it has to be with you, or does registration just not start for everyone who isn't writing or doing art yet?
