Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread
Oh please. If only SR and I started counting the times someone insulted us, or called us insane, blind, ignorant or whatever down that line, because of a ship PAIRING, I think someone should be tearing down threads on this forum.
I don't think you were bashing anyone, you were expressing your opinion. If you were bashing, then I wonder why nobody reacted gazzilion times over when either Sparky, Elizabeth, or sparky/Elizabeth fans were bashed.
I can also count the times someone insulted me or attacked me. And it's strange because I don't think I was bashing too. We had a nice conversation and 10 minutes after I have to explain that NO I'm not anty'teyla or NO I'm not against the show and NO I was not rude. I can't understand some people but "c'est la vie". I just found it stupid to react like this about a tv show. It's why I prefer to stop it because I don't have time to fight against a closed-minded person.
Hopefully for me, I wasn't on GW at the beginning of the show because I will more problems.lol

Sig made by nephty and avi by Kris....THANK YOU!
I thought I was pretty good on the thread too but it seems to be a problem for someone. I had reflections on msn and it's not someone on the famous thread. So for this person "I don't see the obvious things", "I love bashing Teyla", "I don't have respect for the Sheyla's fans" and blabla. I thought it was a joke at the beginning but no she was serious. I don't thing I was rude or lack of respect but she felt hurt by my comments.
It's the second time that I have a problem like this. I start to think we can't talk about a TV show (yes a TV SHOW and not something very serious) without problems. It's why I prefer to stop my comments. It's stupid because I think we had a nice conversation on the thread.
You were good and the person who was mostly talking to you nicely said she enjoyed it so don't think another thing about the crazies. Anuna is right. We've been insulted plenty but not nearly as much as Elizabeth/Torri. And yet the word gets spread that we are the intolerant ones. That's why I no longer post on threads like that one. Now we'll probably get modded again for being off topic. It's just not worth the aggravation.
Now to get back OT. I was talking to my friend today while we drove to the art exhibit we were going to about this forum and SGA and so on. She's a big fan but is not online and knows nothing about the behind the scenes stuff. I can't remember her exact words but she essentially said both she and her husband always assumed that Sparky was the canon ship and didn't happen because Torri left the show. She said how could you not think he was in love with her when you saw how he grieved for her? So once again I thank Joe for his faces. Maybe he didn't intend to indicate anything but friendship but it sure came across differently. She also said a lot of other things I can't repeat here because it would be OT. And I swear *raises right hand* that I didn't put words in her mouth.

She has the same reaction of one of my sisters. We were talking about SGA and I told her the "news". Ford is Killed, Carson is killed, Weir is almost killed. First reacton of my sister "Weir is the leader huh? The girlfriend of the american and hot soldier? He should be sad" Yes sister, yes.lol
She saw only the first season and she thought they will be married next season.lol The reaction of her husband about another ship (I won't tell the name because I wil have problem with mods.lol) was also very funny.

Sigh. Am I wrong or other threads also discuss weather? LOL.
Back on topic, indeed, because it's so much better than anything else Of course we can't be sure what was in Joe's head but what he had done is evident, on screen and therefore canon. One can say whatever they want but they can't erase all of John's grieving looks and the change in his behavior, and especially episodes like Adrift, Lifeline, TMC and Ghost in the machine. In those episodes his reactions regarding Elizabeth's fate were pretty clear, and when I hear people saying that he was equally disturbed or worried for his other friends, I call it a lame attempt to minimize the impact of Elizabeth's fate on him.
And it's freakin' canon, period. Not even a library full of books can change that
Hmm, seems I need to find some fluff to rec and counter all the hurt feelings over fans that are nasty to us. Or maybe crack... hmm, I know! How about Anuna's Barefoot and Handcuffed! It seems appropriate to the conversation... in more ways than one.
Sorry I've been MIA--I've had RL projects to work on, but it seems I will finally have some spare time starting today and tomorrow. The continuity timeline is my last thing to work on (and my Echoes novelization *whistles*).
Hopefully I can have something for you all by Monday morning and then we can push on to the final prepro stages.
Fionnat, sorry about Germany, but I'm rooting for Spain in the Final!
Thanks! And yay, you're back! Bring on the final stage of preproduction, and let's get writing!

If we had a dollar for every time it happened, we'd be able to pull MGM out of its financial black hole and fund a 4-night Stargate Atlantis miniseries. And yes, it is rather... interesting... to see how no one ever jumps to our defense when we get bashed.

Hmm, did you also correct your friend on how it wasn't that Torri left the show, it was that Torri was forced off the show?

Weather, eh? Talk about off topic.
You know, while on the one hand we all say that we don't know what was in Joe's head, what his approach was to portraying Sheppard as he was losing Elizabeth... but then I keep thinking of all the things that Joe has said to the fans, how much he's supported and defended Torri from the naysayers. And I wonder... maybe we know what was in his head, after all.
Sparky is canon. And no, badly written books that only continue to make the same mistakes made by the producers on the show won't change that.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon.Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

God Bless Joe Flanigan. That's all I gotta say.

Yeah, I made sure my friend knows all about how Torri was treated and what Joe and the others think about it. Needless to say, she's appalled.
And now we can console ourselves with the fact that if you stacked all the Sparky moments end to end, you'd have enough video to reach the Pegasus Galaxy without the need for a wormhole. Hee.

Not surprised at that reaction; it seems to be universal among rationally-minded fans. I ran into a couple of McSheppers in the exhibit hall at Comic-Con 2008 who also weren't aware of what had really happened with Torri, and they were shocked when I told them the details of the GitM casting fiasco; they thought Torri should've been given a better offer with more episodes, too, and they were just as glad as we are that Torri told 'em to stick it.

Our squee has more energy than a ZPM!
Damnit, there's another tagline for Atlantis Rising!

Could be alternative power source... like the screams in Monster's Inc.
Hmm, we could probably use Rodney for that, too. I mean, how much energy does it take him to squeal like a girl when the bad guys are after him (or when he gets shot in the butt with an arrow), or whine and complain when he has to pull a miracle out of his ass? He's practically a walking ZPM himself!

Seriously! They ought to just make him hold one of their drained ZPMs, then get him good and mad/stressed/freaking out, and ZAP! The ZPM will be automatically charged to full power!
Hey... it could happen.

*snickers* Does this mean that the IOA will demand that every charged-by-McKay ZPM must have an 'inspected by Zelenka' tag before it can be plugged into the ZPM hub? Gotta love bureaucratic paperwork!
