    Guys, I have a question.

Do we have an idea when we wills tart writing/posting our fics? Approximate timeline at least? I don't want to be a nag, but I think it's something we should keep in mind. We do ahve a goal, to create a quality virtual season 6 which can be enjoyed by many fans. However if we don't set up some timeline, we're in danger of losing our motivation and sense of "this should be done by date xyz". It's just a concern that I'm having lately.
I'm not weird, I'm limited edition.

Good question! I believe we've got eight episodes left for our discussions of what we're going to do with each episode (technically it's nine, but since the last two are a two-parter...). If we do one a week, starting next week, we'd be finished and ready to start writing the first full week of July. Those who are writing some of the more standalone episodes that we've already discussed (like First Year, To Build a Fire and Box of Dreams) could probably start their first drafts now, if they're so inclined. What do you think?

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

Don't worry, that's all being taken into consideration. I was thinking summer to start asking for fics to be written, because this is going to be a long process. But I felt as though just throwing out 'write' without getting general opinions on everything would lead to a lot of chaos and disjointed stories. Everyone needs to be on the same page as far as plot progress, or we're going to have a season that doesn't work, simply because every writer writes differently. We should be finished with all episode discussion by end of May.

I actually have 3 tasks for writers if you want some season writing prep:

        - Try writing a sequence of scenes from commercial to commercial of your favorite episode. That means starting from the return from break and writing to another break. That's about 10 minutes of a show, and it would give people a feel for what the length of a 'chapter' in these stories would be. Length is going to be an issue with us and I think we should probably set up some guidelines, so we don't have one episode that's 100 pages and another that's 20.

        - I think it would be a good idea for all writers who want to do an episode on their own to see all episodes of SGA. If we're going to make claims that we're sticking to 'canon' with this and are unbiased, then we have to be serious about it. Nobody who has not seen everything through S5 will be able to capture character progression in canon style without either seeing or discussing what happened.

If you don't want to watch all of the seasons, that's fine, just grab a co-writer or a beta-er you trust who has and ask them questions. The less you've seen, the more you need to ask, because I can promise, coming off my own experience of finally finishing out SGA, that some stuff is a lot different than you might think.

        - Thirdly, it has come to our attention that people may want to protect their privacy should eyes beyond the world of the fandom visit our SS6 site and see our stuff. As cool as real life recommendations are, it does mean we need to be a little more 'professional' in how we handle ourselves, if we wish to take ourselves seriously.

As a result, I'd like the SS6 writers to come up with author names for the LJ. You can use either your initials, your real first name and last initial, or a pseudonym. Let me know what you'd like to be called and I'll call you that in all discussions and suggestions you make either here or on LJ.

If you wish to comment on your own on the journal, know your LJ handle is available to be 'clicked on'. This being the case, you may want to consider reassessing the privacy settings on your journals if you want to protect some of your stuff. Just considerations.

This has my approval. Anyone with name issues can let Eri know. If you want to be anonymous, you need to keep it off this thread. Thanks.

              On the name I have:

              Carys
              Arine--1
              Mayel--3/1

Some people have commented but not voted. I need to hear you shout it out.

Too true. Just look at how episodes in Seasons 4-5 weren't lining up with each other.

Writing an entire act from a favorite episode sounds like a good tune-up activity.

I'm fine with sticking with Scary Kitty as my pseudonym. Hmm, I suppose this means I'm going to have to put my SGA commentary on LJ under flock...

I should probably clarify on the pseudonym--real names, not handles. And only for the stories, not the comments or anything else. Just because, if this gets published/recced/sent out elsewhere, names or initials look 'sleeker' than handles.

But you can use your handle initials, like SK.

Yep! If you want to have a real-name-like pseudonym that works!

And, your initials don't have to be your real initials. I should have worded my statement better. I mean real-name-like whatever (initials, first names, or pseudonyms) but it doesn't have to be your real name related at all. We're all about preserving your privacy at the highest level.

I just want the script stuff to be glossy.

Which will be interesting, considering 1) it's my boss and 2) apparently Nashville is half underwater. We need a boat, perhaps, instead.

As I understand it, the waters have been receding. So you probably just need hip-wader boots at this point.
