And--are we going for the episode feel? I'd love that (but I'm an epic writer anyway). I want to write mine like an actual episode, so we'd need time to do that, if that's the way everyone feels. I mean, wouldn't it be cool if we could do this entire thing like we were going to package it and sell it to MGM!
I swear if they don't fix this multi quote problem, I will have to hurt somebody.

And yes, I'm thinking it will take a long while. Even when we start writing there will be changes and revisions. After all, we're in this to have fun and do Sparky things. The end result will mean it's all over. So this is a case in which the process is most of the fun. Who knows what kind of new ideas we will come up with along the way?

I say yes on the episode feel. Beginning, middle, end with continuity, foreshadowing and an actual arc or two.

Absolutely. I guess that's why I'm going gung-ho on the season organization. The more we fill in on the comm, the better, but since a LJ comm won't let me backdate posts, I can't set up the posts in order. So I'm doing comments for now until we have most episodes in the works, then I'll create separate posts for each of them and go back and farm ALL these posts and add the stuff relevant to those episodes into them. (actually, I guess I could, I'll just title them EPPY 1, EPPY 2, etc). *dumbhead*

Great, quoting's not working at all for me...

@SR: Could I maybe cowrite on the Ronon-empathy story?

@SK: "Exactly! Hmm, in the episodes leading up to the breakdown, we'll need to start dropping in little hints that Elizabeth's hold on reality, her ability to distinguish between her real life and the multiple sets of memories she carries from her duplicates, is starting to fracture."

          I really like the idea.

          @Eri: "9 month production time"

Why 9 month? Are we having a baby? *g*

Sparky Shipper. Genetically predisposed to being stubborn... really pesky.

Really? I hadn't heard anything about that. Awesome!!

For continuity purposes, let's not worry about connecting arcs within Standalone episodes until we have all the standalone episodes worked out. In other words, focus on your "A" storyline, and incorporate "B" storylines that are strictly standalone only. Don't worry about underlying stories that tie into bigger arcs (like Elizabeth's return/psych evaluations/etc) until we have everything set--then I'll do a continuity timeline that let's writers know what they should address for arcs and how far they can go with certain arced stories.

Elizabeth in particular needs to flow continuously since her story is the major focus of our Season 6.

            So working on Standalones:

            - We've got approval on Anuna's Box of Dreams. That'll be episode 12, 2 after our return of Elizabeth. I'll update our comm.
            - Do we have approval on Elizabeth's 'mental breakdown?' episode? I'd like to write that one if no one else jumps in. I have some good ideas for it. I'm looking at around eppy 18 for that.
            - Ronon's 'empathetic stroll through Atlantis': thoughts? Writers?
            - The Cadman telepathy humor storyline: thoughts?
            - The Lockdown episode: we need to hammer this out more. We have some funny parts (Ronon/Woolsey/Torren & perhaps Zelenka saving the day) but why is there a lockdown? Let's be creative and not have it be the City turn on them.
            - I feel like, as Erin mentioned, we need one more story exploring Atlantis. Thoughts?

OH, and I LOVE the sigs!
Don't forget my Torren ceremony/hunt through the woods one.

I guess that'll be up to the writer. we've done both previously on Atlantis.

As a suggestions: Thinking about if it's caused by Elizabeth's nanites, it may be something serious mixed with humor. I suppose we won't want to get into the notion of Elizabeth not being able to control them, since we're trying to make her not a danger, so anything where the nanites themselves get out of control defeats our purpose.

But if she's unconscious as they're trying to deactivate them and Rodney screws up so they accidentally take control of Atlantis's systems, maybe we have moments where unconscious Elizabeth and Atlantis mirror each other. Perhaps the lockdown symbolically represents Elizabeth's fear of lack of trust from her expedition members, etc. She shuts certain people in/out of her life in the same way the City does it to them in real time. Various things happening in the city could be reflective of what she's going through in her head/heart.

But I don't think we go inside her head--have the lockdown keeping people guessing, like the audience never knows what's going to happen next and they have to guess what each change in the City system means. Everybody getting trapped means Rodney has to find ways to coax Elizabeth into releasing certain systems (and maybe Zelenka is the first to figure it out, so he gets his genius moment?). Eventually as Elizabeth is talked down and Jeannie gets back to help reprogram the nanites, the lockdown becomes less of a threat, as does Elizabeth.

Hey, you could play in a really cool Sparky moment at the highest point of drama, where Elizabeth sets the self-destruct because she feels she's better off dead than a threat to the city. Only she doesn't realize her own desires are being reflected in the City and she's going to take everybody with her. Have John talk her down in some way, either from his lockdown position (talking to the walls) or by her bedside.

It would be nice if they 'fix her' enough to where her nanites are no longer at threat to the City by the end. But Elizabeth's mental state at the end is uncertain, and we can always have Rodney, John, Woolsey etc talk about the fact that she's obviously scarred by what happened to her. Hanging in the wings is Rodney's caveat of the nanites 'still being there' though absolutely no longer a threat to humans. But that leaves the door open for Elizabeth's worrying they MIGHT be, so we can tease the Elizabeth breakdown episode for later.

Just suggestions, but they're fun to think about.
The ideas for this ep are really cool. Love the Elizabeth=Atlantis connection.

Another idea. As much as I hate GITM, it's canon. So let's stick to it

COMPUTER VOICE: We started searching the galaxy, looking for a way to regain any kind of physical form. We came across a few other technologically advanced societies.
                  McKAY: Really? In this galaxy?
COMPUTER VOICE: You'd be surprised how many more are out there, keeping themselves hidden from the Wraith.

I was wondering if we could use such information for a standalone episode.
People of Atlantis discovers a planet (the iced one?) with a very advanced society leaving underground. Good people or evil people? At your choice

Unfortunately for us, that could potentially be too similar with an episode of SG1 (Beneath The Surface), and I don't think we want that, do we?

I'm fascinated by the idea of an iced planet because I read a wonderful science fiction trilogy from Alan Dean Foster (Icerigger and sequels) some years ago and I'd like to see Lanteans facing a similar adventure.

And SGA's Underground with the Genii. I do like the idea of finding some of these other advanced races that are hiding from the Wraith... but they don't necessarily have to be literally hiding underground. They could have their own cloaking technology (though that was also done in one of the SGA audio drama CDs), they could be partially ship-based like the Travelers (for all we know, the Travelers may have been one of the races that GitM's FRANibeth was talking about), or any number of options.

*snickers* Yeah, but this time there's something more there besides a control chair and a handful of drone weapons.

Could be a lab where the Ancients were working on an anti-Wraith weapon, or maybe they'd found a deposit of a rare material that could add strength to armor plating on spaceship hulls, or something else.
