C'mon, the "Not Fade Away" reference wasn't hint enough I let a GF pick a karaoke song. Once I got past the opening (turning "well" into seven syllables is harder than one might think) it went ok. I was glad the song was less than two minutes long.

Drew It's karaoke, you don't really need to know it It's all about the fun. The Rolling Stones, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Da Boss, Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, Waylon Jennings, Rush, and Tanya Tucker sing it without vocal embellishment. Just start clapping along with the Bo Diddly beat and everyone gets into it and loves it. Now just get on your camera phone, and we'll give you the obligatory friendly ribbing because we love it.

I have one that's believable and one we'd love. The end of the Real World. John really was infected when he touched Elizabeth and the last 2 1/2 years have been his personal hell.

To take him over the replicators have been trying and trying and trying to find ways to isolate him from people:

At first, they were testing him, finding out how he deals with stuff and what his reactions will be (torturing him in CG/Irresponsible); flashing back to his past (Phantoms), taking him away from Atlantis (TR1&2); threatening his people (Echoes), testing his guilt (The Game), his fear (CB/Submersion); testing connections to people (ToR, The Ark, Sunday).

When they figure out his greatest weakness is his friends, they start taking them out: Sunday, First Strike/Adrift/Lifeline, Doppelganger, Missing, Miller's Crossing, This Mortal Coil, Quaranting, TK 1&2, TLM. And it's not just death, it's also moving away from him (S4 - Teyla; S5 - McKay) But John hangs on and hangs on desperately. By the time you get to to EATG, they've forced him into leaving Pegasus, with everything he ever really loved about Atlantis gone, lost or out of his reach.

Then _________________ happens (insert plot point where John reaches the limit and realizes something MAY be up). All of a sudden the replicator plan starts to break down and John has to fight through his mind to rescue himself. Of course, all friends can help him--including Elizabeth, still recovering on her own.

that i can believe what's your own plot point of where john reaches his limit? was it maybe GITM or Was it some other s5 episode? and what does CB mean?

He listens to Evanescence from time to time...I was trying to get him to learn "Jackson" by Johnny Cash and June Carter, but he won't because he's stubborn. He unfortunately does not listen to music that I can sing with him...

and I'd NEVER make him sing something like "Summer Nights" with me (I love Grease but it's like the most over-sung karaoke duet IN THE WORLD!!!!!!)

I might also be a little bit of a karaoke snob.....

Hey does anyone know if we're going to have a SGA movie anytime soon. I know I've been out of the loop for a while and I'm now trying to catch up on what's going on and going through the last 30 pages. And if there is no movie, are they going to the book series like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Star Wars, etc? Thanks

I was going to do a drive by forum read, but I had to comment...I LOVE METALLICA! I WOULD SO KARAOKE METALLICA!!! I once scored 98% on the ultra hard version of "Enter Sandman" for vocals on Rock Band. James Hetfield...SCHYEAH!

No, the 'own plot point' would be something new--it's have to be something after EATG, because if my scenario were real by EATG he was still thinking it was all real and not a replicator-induced-dream. So we'd have to come up with the plot that would make him start to question whether it was real.

CB was supposed to be CG for Common Ground, I think. I don't remember.

My condolences also pkprd. Losing a parent is one of the hardest things that can happen.

The SGA movie is on indefinite hold. MGM is having severe money problems. There will be a book series out late next year but I don't have much hope for anything good.

Officially, the SGA movie is "on hold," but unofficially, it's looking more and more like it's never going to happen. Fandemonium will be doing a mini-series of novels set after Enemy at the Gate that's supposed to tie up the loose threads from the end of the TV series, there's supposed to be a new series of comic books that's going to do a "Season 6," and of course, there's the audio dramas by Big Finish (word has it that their next series is going to be a 6-part story instead of individual stories; I don't know what it'll be about, though). The thing to remember is that the novels, comics, whatever, officially are not considered canon by the producers, so take whatever happens in them with a grain of salt.
