Oh, Viggo! I got a crush on Aragorn. Well, what woman doesn't. But I told my boyfriend not to worry and that I know that men like this don't exist in real life. *g* Never could identify with Arwen, though. She is just too perfect. Tolkien writes women terribly. And there are only 3 in the books to begin with.

He can't write good women but he imagined a universe (language, people) and has created great characters. We can forgive him for that. I admit that there are some boring moments in his books but it's great.

Real quick before I go to work, Probie "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" is a Queen song (it has a very Elvis feel, hence folks think it's Elvis) covered by Dwight Yokum. It's really close, but I give the edge to Queen.

LCJS "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" that takes me back to my early fraternity days! It is a really catchy tune.

Yes indeed. I got a crush on Aragorn just from reading the books. I was lucky enough to take a SciFi/Fantasy class in college and had to read LOTR. I wrote a paper about the Ents and my professor said I used "Elven logic". I don't think he meant that as a compliment.

There was a lot of talk about this at the time. I think this was another one of those gigantic plot holes and/or continuity problems. It didn't look like the same necklace.

And she never wears it again after Siege 3 that I know of. In Intruder she is either wearing a different necklace or a zip up top. So obviously it was symbolic but being made of fail they screwed it up.

Okay, here's what happened: Originally, that scene (or rather, one very similar) was written for Rising (and still appears in the novel). It had to be cut from Rising due to time constraints, but was later resurrected to be used in Home instead. The necklace that Elizabeth wears throughout Season One (the silver chevron-ish one) is supposed to be the necklace from the original version of the scene that was cut from Rising, which is why I always thought it was confusing to have Simon give her another necklace when he was supposed to have given her the first one only a few months earlier. TPTW blew it again.

So, for comparison:
Here's a shot of her wearing the chevron-ish necklace in the final balcony scene in Rising. SR is correct that Siege III is the last time we see Elizabeth wearing it; I assumed that she stopped wearing it after Simon broke up with her in the flashbacks from Intruder.

And here's the necklace seen in Home; it appears to be a round golden stone (either amber or topaz) set in silver with a silver chain.

Hope that explains things.

I agree with LCJS. I don't think they ruined the show. It was different at the end but it was not bad (for me of course). The only thing I hated is to wait 10 years to see Harm and Mac together. That's why I'm never become a shipper for Sam/Jack. It's too long to see something.
But I was weak during SGA and I fell in love with Sparky.lol
I also add that I love Cam Mitchell. I was tired of seeing O'Neill doing nothing at the end. Now I will run and hide myself.lol

I liked Mitchell too. I actually liked S9 and 10 of SG-1 and think that changing things up a bit worked pretty well. As opposed to other occasions.

We are officially obsessed with John/Elizabeth when...

Ooo, that's really pretty!! *ahhs appreciatively* I've got the necklace of the actual gate (and I don't think a week goes by where I don't wear it, lol) but I would most definitely wear that one. Probably a lot.

I was a bit tired of SG1 before Vala and Mitchell appear. I was happy to see new faces. I'm not telling that I don't like Teal'c, Carter, O'Neill or Daniel. It's just after 8 years, it's good to have a little change. After 8 years, it's good but not after 1 (Ford) or 3 (Carson/Weir) or 4 (Carter).

This is cool. I was lucky too. I had TV shows class. It was an option in high school. Our job was to watch the shows in English and analyzed them . It wasn't too horrible.lol We spent our time watching tv shows like "Six Feet Under", "How I Met Your Mother", "Two and a Half Men", "Twilight Zone", "ER", "Stargate SG1" and other things. Our homework was to watch an episode and analyze it. It was pretty cool. Too bad this was just for one year.

Exactly. And plus I really liked the introduction to the Arthurian mythology. The first time I saw the first episode of S9 I had no clue what season it was or that it was the first episode, and it captured my interest. It was suddenly like 'hey! This has gotten good again!'.

*nods* I love subtle fandom like that. If you know what it is you can appreciate it, but then if you don't then it's just a cool looking necklace.
