I played both sports, and I don't which one I like better. And it would be funny to see John's face when he finds out Liz is a baseball fan. I don't suppose you have Lizzie be White Sox fan? (Please please please.)

Edit: If she's a Cubs fan, I wont be very happy (finger shaking, but in the joking way) The Sox and those bums on the north side (Cubs) start the Crosstown Showdown today. GO WHITE SOX!

I'm just the opposite. I love college football. Maybe that's why I love John so much. or maybe not During football season around here it gets pretty wild. A lot of us like college football.

It's played largely the same whether college or professional. There are college teams that play each other and then professional teams that usually represent a city that play each other. The super bowl is the professional championship and the ...well...we won't get into the BCS college bowl games. Let's just say the game is the same with a few differences in rules but the teams are different.

There are a couple of sports aficionados here. Unfortunately, we are now enemies. As a Georgia fan I cannot condone the singing of Rocky Top anywhere near this forum.

And as Elizabeth is a proud proponent of Red & Black I do not feel alone in this matter. >8D

There is a difference in who they represent and whether they're paid to play. College team players play for their schools and are not paid, whereas professional team players are paid salaries. Do you guys have 'university' teams? If you do, I think it's sort of the same thing.

You have to prove yourself at the college level before you can play at the Pro Level (generally).

The rules are a little different for college and Pro football--some rules let Pro football be rougher because it's played with older players--but in general they're the same type of game.

Well, I'm sorry to hear that--but that's basically the difference in college and pro here. College is students playing.

That Hail Mary pass in H&S was one of the all time great plays of college football. For me, I prefer college football because it just has a different feel than Pro Football (what we refer to as the NFL, or National Football League). College football is all about supporting where you went to school, and the young players who are playing for your school. It's great stuff.

Uh oh, I think we started something. May I just say sometimes rivals can get along. This is a pic from my husband's family reunion the day Florida played Florida State right after Virginia Tech played Virginia. We are a diverse family. That's my bald son in the VT shirt, some cousins in the Florida shirts, my hubby in his orange for VT (yes, their colors are maroon and orange) and his cousin's husband in his Miami jersey watching his game on his laptop. No blood was shed.

That's my bald son in the VT shirt, some cousins in the Florida shirts, my hubby in his orange for VT and his cousin's husband in his Miami jersey watching his game on his laptop. No blood was shed.

It's all in good fun. I don't really have any team I particularly have a hatred for, though I do wish Florida would stop winning everything. Seems like everytime you turn on ESPN there is Florida in some sport winning something.

Since I work for a sports network, I have to have a little professional courtesy, too. Not only in general working with all the teams, but because the fans here are diverse, and a nice bunch of people. Most of the people on the production side have very strong loyalties, but it wouldn't do for any of us to kill each other on a day-to-day basis.

Yes it's awful. This is not done yet. We (the french) are strong for strikes. It is our national sport.lol We will do our best to avoid this.
In France, there are some sports competition between universities (soccer, handball ,...) but it is not so popular and so big.
