Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon.Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.
This is what is interesting about this couple. They are not in love since the beginning. They are friends first and then they come closer.
You can see the evolution of their relationship and it's more exciting to watch. We can believe in this relationship.
Spoiler:
It is not like another ship that writers try to impose on us from the beginning. If you know what I mean.
Yup, Sparky grows on us little by little, just like a normal (well, as normal as one can get, given that they're in another galaxy!), healthy relationship.
Spoiler:
It's also not like certain ships that the writers tried to impose on us at the last minute as the series drew to a close. If you know what I mean.
By the way, I can't post my report. I have my Internet connexion now but my father deleted my report on the computer. I'm a little angry and I almost want to beat him but...I'm a nice girl so...I do anything. It's not the first time he does this. I begin to think that he doesn't love me. lol
Awww! *hugs* You could always give him the "you just killed my puppy" look that John always uses when he's sad. LOL!

Okay, quick plot bunny time, to check people's thoughts and ideas on it. Before I hit the keyboard.
New idea just came to mind. Current Title: Atlantis - Reset.
Story starts, at the beginning of season one. But with a completely different storyline. Usual cast line-up though.
Summary
Earth is on the brink of destruction. Man’s last hope of salvation is finding the lost city of Atlantis. Before it is destroyed.
Yes/No... Do you think the story will work? Atlantis expedition surviving, without Earth basically.
I'm with SR: Atlantis should've stayed cut off from Earth, so this is a great idea. Lots of potential for the kind of expansive world building that we should've gotten on the show, but never saw.

This sounds great
And I agree with the others: Atlantis should have stayed cut-off from Earth... At least longer than just one year...
I know there's a story somewhere out there that tells about Earth being destroyed and the survivors joining the Atlantis expedition. But it's set a couple of years after the expedition started. John and Liz are even expecting a baby if I remember correctly...

So yours is still original
Go for it!!
Hmm, that sounds kinda like Unexpected, by Oparu. Is that the fic you're thinking of?

Hey, Kris? Remember how you (I think it was you) asked a while ago about that weird omega-like design on the back of Lizzie's black jacket? I found out where it came from! Since it's more a question about Elizabeth, I posted the info over on the Weir/Torri thread, but I'm linking back here since everyone else might be interested, too.
Enjoy!

Angelus and Nightfall are both set in Season 4, so there's no Weir and Beckett, and therefore, I'm not interested in reading them.
I also liked Reliquary and there was, I think, a bit of possible Sparky,
Spoiler:
with Elizabeth being worried about John and John getting pissed off at Bates because Bates wasn't personally protecting Elizabeth when John couldn't be there to do it himself. Heehee.
Heehee indeed! I remember that part. In a novel where there wasn't that much John/Liz interaction, it made me very very happy. But I did like Reliquary. Like SR said, it was a good team story.
I won't be reading Nightfall either most likely. I'm certainly not going to by it (unless I find it really dirt cheap somewhere, which is unlikely). The only reason I might give Angelus a chance is because I think I remember reading in the summary something about the 'expedition adjusting to the loss of its leader', so there's a possibility that there might be some decent Elizabeth angst. One can live in hope at any rate.
I'm still buying the books if Elizabeth is in them; the really big Elizabeth-centric novel, Portals of Discovery, is supposed to be coming early next year, I think. I don't know if any of the other novels between now and then will be set during the Weir era or not.
I hope so. I really hope so. Like you, if they're not I'm most likely not going to buy them.
But ooo, I hadn't heard the title of that one before! *eagerly anticipates it* Is this the one that is supposed to be like her memoirs? haha, I just had a thought. Maybe it's the memoirs she started writing in The Return. Or it would be funny if it was the book that Rodney had written about her.
I do wonder what happened to that book. Oh... *squeaks and buries face in hands* Angsty plot bunny! - John either finding or being given the book after they clean out her office and then reading it. Darnit, I really want to write that now!

He did?!! I hadn't heard that before. *giant squee* Somebody please tell me the story behind that!
I'm also hanging for Portals, and have been frequenting the author's LJ to keep updated - soooo can't wait!!!
I actually really enjoyed Blood Ties.. mainly because of the Australian connection Gotta love one of the authors being an aussie and writing about Tasmania ( and bushfires! YES!)

Hmm, don't recall reading that about Angelus... But yes, some angsting over Elizabeth in either Angelus or Nightfall would be a breath of fresh air after the "shove her under the rug except when it's convenient" attitude of the TV series.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for the lowdown on that, myself!

Hee! I really, really enjoyed all the details about the various Earth-bound locations in the book. It helped to make the story come alive and sell the idea that these stories are happening in our world. Awesome stuff.

Yeah. I couldn't remember for sure what it was I had seen so I just went and looked. This is where I got that idea, it was in a review:
This one is placed at the start of season 4 after their leader was taken and the team is getting used to things again.
I just took that sentence and built on it my hopes for angst and recognition of what had happened. I was hoping it was in something more official, like the summary, but anyway... that's what it was.
Yep, Portals is supposed to be the memoirs that Elizabeth was writing in The Return.
Very interesting. Yay. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm guessing it's going to be in 1st person? I just hope that since that's the case the author doesn't overlook John, and their friendship. I won't hold out hope for any Sparky hints, but then again, look at Mirror Mirror and CoW with it's prologue that just screams Sparky. (maybe a little bit of hope after all) But now I sound like I'm repeating myself, so, moving on...

Ah, okay. It sounds like the reviewer has at least a passing familiarity with the situation in Atlantis, but whether that translates to the book making any significant reference to it... yeah.

I wouldn't worry too much about that...

Now that's what I call outspoken actor. He made his John - face and basically played him in this little happening. Makes you wonder what Joe thinks about Sparky. Oh wait, we know! He said he's sorry John didn't get a chance to hook up with his lady boss. Since Carter is taken, you know what that means.... dot dot dot! Not to mention how much fun everyone else had. I can see Paul and Rachel, they definitely approve of Joe's little idea.
