To be honest, we have nothing to say about this episode. Some episodes inspire us and others not at all.lol
This episode begins with a crash. Not the first time for John and not the last one.
The story is good because it deals with what we are prepared to do for those we care. (Keras: suicide to save his people / Mckay: Put in danger young people. take a ZPM and save Atlantis)
There is humor too. The scene between Rodney and the kids are hilarious. Ford is funny.
Two little scenes with Weir which show that she's a good leader with a moral.
The only comment from my mom is “if you were on this planet, you have less than 3 years to live. A life without chocolate.”
    The hell for for me.

We had a discussion on the ages of the characters. For her, Sheppard, Weir and McKay have the same age. Teyla is younger. Ford ... he is 25 years old as stated in the episode. lol I told her that some people on this forum think that Weir is too old for Sheppard. She yelled at me. lol She didn't understand why they think this. And said ""even if she's older. We don't care. We see old men with young women why not the opposite" Wise lady.
I always forget to ask: Do you guys watch the eps in dubbed French or in English with subtitles?

And I agree with you; the episode is mediocre, but quite funny and it does raise good morale dilemmas.
Of course I also agree on the Teyla thing (and as SK pointed out, so do Teyla fans). Her character wasn't developed enough (what else is new *she thinks as she ponders about John, Ronon, Elizabeth, Carson, Lorne, Caldwell,...*) and it does seem to be a habit tptw have developed quite well.

Oh my... the age-thing has raised sooooooooo many discussions on this thread and on some others.
I have always seen them as around the same age, so I never really thought about the age-thing until I bumped on the discussion on this forum. And I was like: 'hu... people think she's way older than him? How weird...'
I totally didn't get their problem... still don't... I just don't see the age difference they see.
John and Liz are cute together, all the rest doesn't matter.

      Poisoining the well (first part)

      An episode based on Carson.
Cool Curly hair for Weir and Teyla. Progress for the hair
Conference room: John is standing next to Weir when he could sit. There's an empty chair. He likes to be close to her.
Sheppard makes decisions without asking Weir. Rodney not surprised to see that Elizabeth is agreeing with him. My mom said "Rodney knows that there is something." Beginning of a complicity

Star Trek référence/ Carson= dr mckoy. I have to watch Star Trek
Perna arrived so John is kirk, Rodney is ignored and Carson is in love.
Back to Atlantis. Scene between Weir and Carson. She has to face her first major decision. Not easy to be a leader.

Confrontation between John and the wraith. These scenes fascinate me. The dialogues are fantastic. John doing the cool guy "Sorry if I woke you. Just came by to see if there's anything you needed - magazine, fresh towels." Joe and James did a good job.
      My mom loves The Wraith.

        Second part:

Conference room: they are next to each other again. "This is love" said my mom.lol
Scenes between Carson and Perna. They are cute.
Scenes between Shep and Steve. They are not cute.lol these scenes are really well filmed. Who is the director?

        Elizabeth office:
He calls her "doc" (in French, he calls her "doctor. Bad translation)
He is comfortable in her office because he plays around with her statues. He wondered what he could offer her. My mom likes the little conflict between them. It brings something special in their relation. Difficult decision. Poor Weir. He waits her decision. He knows that what he asks is hard to accept for her.

The poor sick man front of Steve.
Steve is sick and dies. everyone is sick and dies. My mom was sad for Carson when Perna dies.
        I love the end.
"BECKETT (to John): “Victory at all costs.” That sound familiar, Major?
        SHEPPARD: Churchill.
BECKETT: Aye. Never thought I’d disagree"

My mom and I like this episode. A good story (and dialogues) with a good director. Great episode for Carson (he's not a regular at this moment), for Weir and Shep.
Some hints of Sparky. Their relation is changing.

We watched the ps in French. It's easier anf their voices are great in french.
A little scene from Before I sleep in French.

            *dies laughing several times!!!!!*
If you're used to the original, the dubbed version blows big time
But it's so funny... Ford's voice is way too deep... the way Teyla pronounced 'Weir' made me laugh so hard I got tears in my eyes... and at a certain moment you see someone sigh, you know you hear it in the original, but now it stays completely silent... HILARIOUS!!!
You prolly didn't mean to, but thank you for making me laugh so hard... I really needed it

I bet doing the report is massive work when you see it in French, so again: Thank you for doing them, I think they are absolutely brilliantly done!
            Keep it up

"Look. She tries to charm him. The button of her shirt is ready to open. She flirts with him. He had noticed that button. Hmm"
Ahh yes, the button episode. I remember when me and the guys first saw this episode, we were all drooling too. Button pulling and those military style patch breast pockets; the only way to draw more attention to her chest would be to take her blouse off.

Yeah, I always thought Elizabeth and John were about the same age too; it just seems like a logical assumption to make, simply based on John's rank and the level of work Elizabeth was doing before getting into the Stargate program. Of course they'd be the same age.

OMG, seriously? That's hilarious! Apparently we don't have French dubbing on the Season 1 DVDs here in the US, but it looks like the Season 2 & 3 DVDs do have it... I'll have to watch with it on sometime just for giggles.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

Heehee! I love this episode for all the Carson!squee and the Sheppard vs. Steve the Wraith snarkage. It's fun to watch just for the eyecandy. And the moral discussion in this one is, I think, handled a lot better than it is in Childhood's End. Great stuff.

Seriously, after reading posts like this, I'm mystified by the thought that there are still people out there who actually think Weir wasn't sexy, that she was an ugly old hag. I mean, you and your buddies think she's hot, we think she's hot... come on! She's totally hot! Are these other people even watching the same show? LOL!

No it's was not my goal but if it's the case, it's cool. If you want to laugh very hard, go watch Firefly in French. SGA has "good" voices. Not the best but not the worst. Thank you for the compliment.

I think some folks thought she was "ugly and old" was because during the show you kind of only see her with barely any make up; so she looks plain. I like the natural look. There are some promo shots where Torri has an "evening face" and she looks too hot for the hot tub.
