Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread
A question for my fellow Sparkies regarding a possible Big Bang story: If I do it, it's going to be a "Season Six that should have been", with an obvious emphasis on Sheppard/Weir. What I'm wondering is if I should set it after Atlantis returns to the Pegasus Galaxy (which means the hows and whys of the return to Pegasus would not be important to my story) or are you interested in seeing the return of Atlantis made a significant part of the fic?
And with that, I bid you good night, 'cause it's bedtime for me, and I'm ready to sleep! See you tomorrow!
I agree with Anuna as I would love to read about their reactions and thoughts about being on Earth and about leaving someone behind. I would also like to read what Teyla and Ronon think about the fact that they have to live on Earth now.
So yeah, the return of Atlantis to Pegasus should be a part of the fic...
And I like the idea of a season 6 as it should be...
In other news: I finally finished the s4/s5 rewrite list.
Check it out, lemme know if it's ok or not and if you prefer any more eps, lemme know.
Otherwise I'll just randomly attach you to an ep. Sparky rewrite.doc

I agree with the others who said they'd like to see everyone's reaction, but I don't think it should be a very large part of the story. Maybe a third or so. Then they're back in Pegasus.

Yep, sounds good. I'll put my name in for Tabula Rasa though.

I agree with the others. I'd personally like to see Atlantis on Earth, and the reactions.
A question though. What exactly is this Big Bang thing?
Voilà. My sister is married since yesterday. We had a little party today. I take a quick glance here before doing a small nap.
It is always a pleasure to read the post-a-thon. I'm happy because I will be here for "TAO"
SK: I agree with KR and Anuna. I would like to see how Teyla and Ronon will react once on Earth. It would be interesting to see John dealing with the fact that he left elizabeth behind and trying to make every effort to return to Pegasus to save her. I look forward to seeing what you will write because I'm sure this gonna be great.
And for the "rewrite season 4/5": I can't wait to see this. I'm sure, it would be amazing.
Ok...now time to go to bed for me even if it's 5pm.lol

Sig made by nephty and avi by Kris....THANK YOU!
Thanks for all your input on the "return to Pegasus" issue for the Big Bang story! I like the idea for incorporating the return into the story, I'd also want to see Teyla (and Kanaan and little Torren, because they were on Atlantis too, darnit!) and Ronon on Earth, and not just cooped up in a briefing room at Cheyenne Mountain. And SR, I definitely agree that it wouldn't take up a major portion of the story; most of it needs to take place in Pegasus.
Kris, the S4-S5 rewrite list looks good! Don't know if I'll be able to do any more than what I'm signed up for if I end up doing Big Bang, but I can try.
And Erin, you were wanting to know what SGA Big Bang is? Here's the lowdown. It's ambitious, it's insane, and it's fun!

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon.Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

Now I'm thinking of joining the bigbang challenge too...
I just don't have a single idea about a story... and I'm also not that good at writing stories that big... so should I sign up?
I've got plenty of plotbunnies that are bothering me, but none that will result to a 40.000+ story...

Have you taken a look at the prompts page? Perhaps something there will spark an idea.
I've never written any stories that big, either... though I've certainly written term papers that big while I was in university.

Oh, prompts!! *goes to read*
My 'Beautiful Children' fic is the largest one (and it's not finished yet) and it gets close to 40.000. But that's it... I think 80% of my fics are under 10.000 words... Some are close to or around 20.000 words... but that's it... Gonna be a real challenge, especially with the deadline...

You can do it. Since when has a challenge stopped you? Maybe you can take some of your ideas and combine them.

A challenge never stopped me, on the contrary... I'm just afraid I won't make the deadline...
And I think I have found a prompt that I can tackle:
Spoiler:
davincis_girl: The new Star Trek movie got me thinking about time traveling bad guys. An enemy of one the major characters from future Atlantis travels back in time looking for revenge. Using an Ancient device or wormhole, he/she travels back in time and starts trying to kill off the Atlantis crew before they even can travel to the Pegasus Galaxy for the first time. This causes some of the crew to be thrown together on Earth in an attempt to find out what is going on and protect themselves.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows how long before the expedition left Earth John joins them? Was it just a couple of days? A few weeks? Maybe a month or two? Has this ever been said anywhere?

The two really major deadlines are September 29 for the complete story draft, and October 14 for the final copy of the story. So that's basically a little over four months to write. I think that's doable. And heck, everybody's afraid of missing deadlines.

Oooh, I saw that one, and it's definitely got some potential for epic fun!
So, how long was it between John getting recruited for the expedition and the expedition leaving for Pegasus? To my knowledge, it was never said, but I would assume it would've been at least a few weeks. A lot of the people who were on the roster to go to Atlantis might have already been in Antarctica, and they would've been prepared to get their affairs in order quickly in preparation for shipping out, but the expedition may have needed some additional personnel, as well as time to requisition all the supplies they'd need (potentially enough to last from six months to a year at least) and get it all packed up and staged to go through the gate. Maybe they even did a couple of dry runs through to Earth's Alpha Site just to make sure they could get everyone and everything through the gate in one shot. So yeah, definitely more than a couple of days, but probably less than two months.
