Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread

The restrictions on pics is probably a legal issue--those were the only pictures they got copyright permission to use, so everyone in the contest has to use them. Nothing else has been cleared is my guess, which is why we can't use our own.

That's what I heard. Oh, and if I *do* end up doing this (I cannot register at the moment) I'm probably going to use a different username for submitting and not talk about it here on GW. Because on the slight chance I do win, my full name will probably be released and I wouldn't like much of GW knowing who I am. But I'm baffled that they wouldn't offer more than one set of picture per actor. Maybe a couple? I mean, the sample submissions contain pictures not included in the packet.

On another topic, JF is very smart. I would hate hate hate chatty!John. I like John-of-few-words especially post-S4.

I also find that over the years, as time goes by I find myself gradually liking John more, and on the other hand liking McKay less. The other main four don't really move because two are pretty much dead and the other two are too wallpapered to move.

And yeah, McKay's overwhelming presence in the 5th season doesn't make me like him more either... on the contrary and not in the least because it takes away so many other much more awesome story possibilities....

I think I'm gonna try to make something for the Blue-Ray disc too... I prolly won't win because my Photoshop skills aren't that awesome yet, but at least it's a good way to get some practice with me fav object... SGA
I just have to remember not to make it too Sparky hinted... then again, it would be amazing if a sparky tinted cover was chosen

No, they didn't. And it's up late as well. Submissions was supposed to begin on February 14. They're due on March 12 I think. They were too late to set up the website and organize the files. That's cutting a lot of time to do this in half.

I shouldn't even bother because I now realise I don't even qualify.

I would think that they would too. If it's so that makes all the current entries ineligable.

ITA about John and once again I think it is all due to JF. I wish they had given him the freedom to do John like he wanted to all the time. It sounds like he had a lot of battles with them. And I read a con report just today that said he told them by the end of S5 TPTB had pretty much stopped listening to him about everything. Explains a whole lot. Joe also said he had an idea to do a Shepisode with no dialogue at all. Didn't happen. Considering the love that was Vegas with his limited dialogue in that one, it would have been fabuloso.

And granted, while a lot of Rodney's dialogue is technobabble/exposition that's sometimes necessary to moving the story forward... that's still a lot.

Agreed. Somehow I don't think he's losing sleep. And I particularly love that apparently early on JF was elected cast spokesman by the rest of them and he frequently went to bat for them. So he was not acting selfishly whenever he disagreed with TPTB. I don't know how I can admire him any more and then I hear things like this. The lost potential of this show just makes me sad.

That's a fantastic concept. It would be great to see Flanigan pull this off -- I know he can do it, but I'm just excited with the concept that never came to life. It would be fantastic and I would also like to see the directing and how technical elements played int othe storytelling. Feeling geeking here.

Yeah, we would, and I think SGA could have gone alongside SGU if this happened. I think regarding the cast at least he knows what people liked.
