Well, there are certain leftover storylines that could be movie-ized... Elizabeth, for one. Hell, the Weir storyline could potentially be done as a miniseries; they'd need the extra time to untangle all the crazy twists and turns that they've thrown into it so far.

I meant that SG1 is all about going on a mission, whereas now that

Atlantis is on Earth, logically it should be the new SGC, and have a tonne of scientists combing over every section of the city. And they should at least copy the database Unless they come up with a premise that involves taking the city back to the PG, there really isn't any point for a movie, coz they have a whole fleet of ships which they could send. Sure, they have storylines open, esp the Weir one, but the cynic in me says they wouldn't have a sparky movie *shrugs*

Of course it's silly. That's the beauty of it.

Heh! That'll work. And gee, it would require practical FX instead of CGI, so it would definitely look better!

It didn't work for me at all. Carter felt like a fifth wheel the entire time; everything she did in her time on the show could've been done by other characters who were already on SGA before she was shoehorned in.

Which is part of why Woolsey is a better fit; he's neither fish nor fowl.

I was the opposite. With previous canon, she could do anything. It felt to me like she was an observer in SGA, and in the wrong role. She's smarter than all the other scientists, and more experienced that most of the military, yet we hardly saw her do either (less so the military side). I don't think they should have killed Carson, Elizabeth or Kate, but since they did, why didn't they make a decent fist of the remaining characters?

Atlantis becoming the new SGC. On the one hand, it makes sense, but on the other hand... We're talking about a floating city the approximate size of Manhattan. Even with the cloak, how the heck are they going to hide it from the public indefinitely? There's very few places on Earth's oceans where they'd be able to park Atlantis away from major shipping routes; all it would take would be for one wayward container ship to run into some invisible barrier, and then the jig would be up. They certainly couldn't submerge the city; they don't have the power. And they can't park it on land, because then you have to start worrying about ground and air traffic. They'll probably have to send the city back simply due to the logistical nightmare posed by keeping it on Earth.

As for getting the city back to Pegasus, well, they would've had to do that anyway for Season 6, had they gotten a green light. So now they're doing it as a movie instead of as a two-part episode.

Sparky movie. Well, it doesn't have to be overt (frankly, I'd prefer that it not be overt, because TPTW have proven time and again that they can't do overt ship); just a few nice little hints of the kind that Carl Binder is capable of will do nicely.
