Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread
There are a lot that apply to us and others. They need to update to include McKeller and the events of S4 and S5.
I can update it. The SGA page and where it is referenced really needs some renovating as I think most fans don't call Carson, Elizabeth, Rodney and John by their last names. (Except maybe John.)
I think the we get Air to Sea Missiles a lot: "when Word Of God simply states that a particular ship isn't going to happen." *giggle*
Also, stay safe, Aussie friends. It looks horrible down there.
But then in CM we get John sitting on Elizabeth's desk, so I suppose it's great.
Also, something funny: The Ship Yard. Sparky seems to have several 'ships'.
LOL at the Ship Yard.
John and Teer didn't bother me in Epiphany. She knew as a little girl that he would come into her life. I looked at the relationship as something that was destined to happen to help Teer move along in her journey. And it did.
:mike: So you're incapable of having lunch?
:elizabeth: Look, take the hint and f*** off
Now this guy, on the other hand, bugged me. Seemed like the Sparkies were split on Mike at the time. Personally, I found him slick rather than charming.
That was great. And I too wasted entirely too much time on it. But love all the pro-Sparky stuff. Was there anything about delusional ships? We should write our own just for SGA. But I'm sure the mods would have to smack a few hands. *looks innocent*
We wouldn't have to write it here. *whistles*
Oh, and I just realized, I belong to one of the most famous deluded ships.
Spoiler:
Harry & Hermione
heh
But so long as we're having fun, who cares? Maybe we have Folie a deux - times a thousand. There's our X-Files connection again.

*snerks* Wait, does that mean that we're the target, or that we're the ones shooting off those missiles at another ship?

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon.Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

My thought on Mike: "meh, Gero, you bugger." It's what it is! Also why there were no J/E scenes apparently since I haven't seen most of the thing

I think it's Word of God is TPTB. We are on the ship. Writing Gods/TPTB are in the air. They shoot at us because allegedly we do not exist. But we seem to dodge.
There was also one really funny article that I thought fit Carl Binder and his writing in S4 and S5. I'll have to find it.

And then Lizzie and John could share that yummy bubble bath after getting back to Atlantis...

Ohhhh yeah, Mike was so slick. In a way, he kind of reminded me of Simon (especially in Intruder). Slick b*st*rds.

And yet, there's that one bit where Elizabeth's talking about not having relationships with people she works with. It sure looks and sounds like a bonafide Sparky anvil.

Though strangely enough, TPTW haven't actually said anything directly to kill Sparky; if anything, they've only added more fuel to the fire. Funny, that.
A certain other ship, on the other hand, has not only been sunk, but TPTW seem to be shooting more torpedoes at it in what looks like an attempt to vaporize every last scrap of its sunken hull. Who'd a thunk it?

I'll be looking forward to that!

The more you think about this episode, the more it seems all over the place. I really thought Teyla was talking about Carson at the beginning and they had a great scene later in the episode. John sure acted surprised that Ronon thought he and Teyla might get together, thus I thought Ronon was making sure he wouldn't be stepping on John's toes if he went after Teyla. And Teyla herself was invited to spend time with John and Ronon golfing, and she couldn't get away fast enough. None of that added up to J/T for me, let me tell you. I saw much more R/T and C/T. And despite the fact that J/E were separated most of the episode, the look John gave her at the end almost made up for that. You just know when he got back to Atlantis he went to be with her.
There's got to be fic about that. How about it SK? Got any post-Sunday recs?
ROFL.... oh dear I nearly dribbled Baileys all over my keyboard.... They are hysterical!
Thank you Someone offered me a Baileys last week. It took me 45 minutes to drink one glass. That mightn't sound unusual, but I am renowned for my ability to drink incredibly fast.
Bwahahaha! And methinks she ought to say something about that beard... it looks good on Sheppard, but on Mike Branton, it just looks like he went 5 rounds with a bush and lost.
I think they were going for that whole big, gangly, scruffy look. Actually, are you allowed beards in the military? IDK. I know Shep's hair is a technical violation.
I'm sure someone's got that pic stashed somewhere...
I was looking for the convo. Something about ugg boots, then everyone's positioning and what we could infer from it. Of course our collective muse appeared after the ep recap
Hee -- were those two scenes meant to be a comparison?
More so of the writing than the characters. Its all personal preference I guess. But i would not find the second one reassuring AT ALL if I were the patient. Although weirdly those two scenes were penned by the same writer (MG)
The first one makes me very, very sad though. One of the few parts I have seen from that episode.
Just leeting all those in the fire Danger zones that my thoughts are with you. I was right in the thick of the 2003 Canberra bushfires, it can be pretty terrifying, so hang in there guys! We;re all supporting you!
Our thoughts are with you our southern buddies. We're sending another deployment of NSW RFS firefighter's tonight to help out, they'll be there by the morning, and those of us NSW firies who are minding our own turf are thinking of you!
Thankfully MOST of the fires here in NSW are contained or being controlled, and the cooler weather has certainly helped. Soon as we're done here there'll be more of us coming down to help.
Our thoughts are with you all.

Deputy Captain
Blaxlands Ridge Rural Fire Brigade

Yeah the news is still coming out and it isn't that flash. I think we have sent some firefighters over too, but its really just a drop in the bucket for what is needed. I've heard there are some places they haven't gotten to yet, so the death toll is sure to rise quite a bit

He didn't bug me. The giant anvil of what he represented did though.
And yet, there's that one bit where Elizabeth's talking about not having relationships with people she works with. It sure looks and sounds like a bonafide Sparky anvil.
That's what annoyed me about the whole situation. The arguements they used (both 'for' by him and 'against' by her) were really for sparky. And really, if Elizabeth truly believed men and women can't be friends, in any sense, then her and John would have AT LEAST been doing it since TRW (more likely at some point in s2).
They tried to set up two ships at the same time (E/M, J/T), but managed to make cases for E/J, J/T, C/T, T/R, R/K
EDIT: Heh. Should've preview posted, coz meanwhile on GW, Irish Eyes managed to make a similar point in a much better fashion

That? Is exactly how I interpreted Sunday when I first saw it, and repeated viewings have not changed my mind on that one bit.
Post-Sunday fics? I know I've seen a couple... Let me get back to you on that.

ETA: I will never watch Sunday because sheyla anvils make me angry. Even tiny ones. I have unreasonable hate for that ship. Plus ack that episode was the beginning of the end for SGA.

No beards; mustaches are permitted within specific grooming guidelines. Wouldn't have made a difference for Mike; he was a civilian.
And yeah, Shep's hair is so a violation; but then, he wouldn't be Shep without his rule-breaking hair.
I was looking for the convo. Something about ugg boots, then everyone's positioning and what we could infer from it. Of course our collective muse appeared after the ep recap
Vaguely remember that one; have no idea how far back it is, though...

What can I say? It's Martin Gero. We all know he can't write relationships worth a damn.

I can ignore the Sheyla anvils, mainly because they're so badly done that they turn into eggs before hitting the ground. Sheppard's perplexed reaction makes me laugh every time.

Really? I always thought he was a soldier, not a scientist. Somehow I got that from the you're my boss's boss convo. I guess Weir is the boss of everyone's boss
And yeah, Shep's hair is so a violation; but then, he wouldn't be Shep without his rule-breaking hair.
Teh hair violates many laws
Vaguely remember that one; have no idea how far back it is, though...
It's okay, it was only a whim
What can I say? It's Martin Gero. We all know he can't write relationships worth a damn.
Unless he is trying really really hard not to write them

Well, he did say something about being behind on his research, so I automatically figured him for a scientist.
Unless he is trying really really hard not to write them
Don't you just love reverse psychology?
