I'm sure everyone's been in that situation where someone close to them suddenly makes a life change that you're no longer a part of. I remember bawling my eyes out when my college roommate and close, close friend fell in love for the first time. I was upset because our relationship would never be the same, but it wasn't 'romantic' jealousy. It was a sense of losing a close, close friend. Teyla's being pregnant and in love with Kanaan meant John was losing a part of her. And if I want to be Sheyla-friendly without being over the top, I could even say that somewhere in his mind he felt possessive of her because he'd been one of the few men in her life (so he thought) for a long time. If you've ever, when you were single, toyed around with the idea of dating a friend just because, it's not unusual. That's my sparky perspective. People could go even further and I still wouldn't be upset--human emotions are complex, and while there were elements of Sheyla, I still stick by what I see on-screen as a very close, deep relationship between John and Elizabeth. Compare the 'dinner hallucination' scene with the end of GITM, and see what people think--or watch all shippers bang their heads into walls, which is really what the forever conflicting world of inconsistent writing does to people.

I'd like to hear what Joe has to say, but rather than it being 'did you ever think of having something with Weir', I'd like to know whether Weir influenced his actions in the last few seasons. What did the end of GITM do to John? That sort of stuff. I just don't think asking him point blank if he was in love with anyone would give any ship a satisfactory answer. I have a feeling everyone is still sorta dancing around the ship questions.

Hey...this reminds me that perhaps we should have tried throwing salt water on Wraith. Wonder what it would do?

    Very lovely!

Love that image! That set is one I rarely look at because TMC really makes me angry. >8D
ITA especially with the part in bold. I'm afraid if someone asks Joe point blank who John was in love with, you won't get a satisfactory answer. He'll try to be diplomatic and will undoubtedly disappoint everybody. I too want to know how the loss of Elizabeth influenced John in S4 and especially S5. Ask him about the deleted scene in Remnants
    Spoiler:
where Kolya taunts him about not being able to save her.
Then we will surely get a very Sparky answer.

This is very, very true. After swimming through the brine and not shrivelling up, I suppose they didn't carry over that trait of their genetic ancestors.

Still, it would have been funny to have an ending episode where someone accidentally throws a bucket of salt water on a Wraith Queen (a la Wizard of Oz) and we get her 'melting, meeeeelllllllttttttinnnnnnnnnngggggggggg...'

            Good morning, Sparkies!

Our favorite pic wrangler has posted some previously unreleased production stills from Epiphany. No Lizzie at all, but lots of John, and several of John and Teer that might be manippable, for those with the mad skillz in Photoshop.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

I just realised that 'kerrrrghh' was the sound of the radio. I though at first it was a combonation of Keller and a growly sound.

Carson would know to give them their privacy and leave them alone. Unless of course he's disolved in lecturing them on Iratus bugs and is obliviously drowning in medical jargon, like in Instinct. Hee.

Hee, I love that first one with that smile.

Those are very good points. He's known her for a few years now, been through some really crazy stuff with her (as the whole team has) and that creates a unique bond. Still, the fact that despite how close they are, there are still parts of her life that she hasn't shared with him (or the rest of the team) no doubt hurt him... even though, of course, there are parts of his life he hasn't shared with her, either!

I agree with the both of you. A more focused question on how Elizabeth and her loss affected John would probably get a more Sparky-friendly response than asking him flat out if John loved Elizabeth. Then again, Joe's never been one to really mince words... he might just surprise us and come out and say it anyway.

And since today is Monday, and Monday is the Canon!day, I present canon evidence of special bond that is Sparky, even if it's the cloned Sparky:

                    Spoiler:

Even being cloned can't dilute the awesomeness of Sparky. It just means there's more Sparky to love.

                    Happy Canon!Day!

Hmm, maybe it's the amount of salt in solution? The bugs have a lower tolerance, so we'd have to up the amount for a Wraith?

*still laughing at the image of a Wraith Queen going Wicked Witch*

And don't be too pushy, like that certain someone who kept asking RL the same question over at one of the cons last year.

Hmmm... The Wizard of Oz, you say? Didn't they already do that on SG1?

On Atlantis, Elizabeth would so be Dorothy. I'm thinking Radek can be Toto.

Yeah, seriously! And don't phrase the question in such a way that it makes it sound like you're asking about Sheppard's romantic feelings, just ask about Weir as Sheppard's co-leader and friend. Because that's the starting base where the rest comes from.

That little girl is already feeling the magic of the hair. Seriously, his scenes with her were just love. I wish there had been more. I think I felt an ovary melting, but it could have just been lunch related.

Wouldn't that have been a great series finale? Like, a two-parter where at the beginning Rodney accidentally sprays Todd the Wraith with a concentrated salt solution and he just explodes.

Then, Atlantis has a *bing* moment where they equip all their ships, P-90s, etc with the same salt solutions and go all crazy epic battle spraying this salt solution (which shouldn't freeze even in space's cold temps) on everything Wraith. Enter the Genii and all the other races who could help and BAM! No more Wraith.

See. I could totally have been a writer.

True that. I think Joe would give an honest answer, at least, if the question were asked nicely. But there's no need to hammer it into the ground or force him to say one thing or another. I'm not going to like him any less even if his thought was 'he really misses and is hurt losing his co-leader and friend'. I think most of the Sparky shippers sorta start their thinking along those lines, and the rest is all about what the future might bring.

And don't forget GITM's flying monkeys.
