Sorry I wasn't able to make the post-a-thon today! However, I had fun reading your comments.

I don't think we ever learned Bates' first name. And, as much as I love him as a Teyla-antagonist, I hate how he was also used as a Sheyla plot device. However, as when he was seen with just John (no Teyla around), they got along perfectly fine, somewhat diminishing that effect. Heh.

I was going to go, but it interferes with some extracurricular work and I'm already taking time off. Unless it can be a quick weekend trip and BC is rather close but I doubt it, plus I would like to go at a time when I can see the whole city and not just going for a con. lol.

But I think Anuna knows someone who is going.

Which makes me go WTF. I always thought people watched fictional tv shows because they wanted to see characters and stories and the action that goes along with it. So this baffles me in a way. Don't you, like, watch the Xtreme sports channel or, erm, a mindless action flick that wouldn't work as a series?

so CONGRATULATIONS on 4000+ posts SK! You always manage to do good old fashion fun to the sparky thread.
      Thanks, you two!

And believe me, I intend to be here bringing fun to the Sparky thread and annoying the anti-Sparkies for a long time to come!

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

Yeah, we got pretty snarky today... I wait with gleeful anticipation to see what we'll come up with when we get around to "The Tower." *evil grin*

I figured it out! Bates has a sekrit thing for Sheppard... that's why he was so friendly on Earth in "Outcast."

Darn, it sucks that you can't go. I'm still hoping they can get Joe and Torri for the con down here in LA in November... I've heard talk that they want to get both of 'em.

*snickers* Anyone who thinks BSG isn't action oriented enough should've been watching last night's episode. (And yeah, it had plenty of fun character moments too!)

Oh, dear. That should be awesome. I haven't seen that episode in forever, though. As much as that is one of my last favourites, I will try to make that one.

omg. I know this point is kinda moot, since TPTB will never tell us, but could Bates be the gay character? Maybe with Kavanaugh? But I doubt it's Bates. Kavanaugh, maybe. He said in Critical Mass he had a 'friend', but seemed to be protecting that friends' identity. Perhaps because it's a member of the military?

Wow, really!? If they get them that will totally make my day and I will probably be able to go. Oh, and did I mention getting the whole original cast would be so made of win. Which con is this and I will bug ask them about that through email.

*snickers* The very fact that we exist annoys the opposition. And that's half the fun right there.

If we hold to the double-header pattern, it'll be paired up with Grace Under Pressure. Mmmm... peanut butter and chocolate.

*dies* That'd be hilarious! I know at least one fic actually did have Kavanaugh and Bates together.

It's the con being run by Creation the first weekend in November at the LAX Marriott; they're also running a Farscape convention at the same time and location. They still don't have a page up for the Stargate con yet (probably waiting until they sign their first guest), but they were already selling Gold passes for the weekend at last year's con in Burbank. So we know it's a go... we just don't know who's going to be there.

Especially since we're not even supposed to exist.

I think I've seen a few too. I'm actually surprised how much Lorne/Parrish fic there is just after that teaser in Runner.

Aww, I hate it when cons announce guests really, really late. It's frustrating, like when Torri was announced at DragonCon like five days before. It makes me go kinda UGH.

:: sighs in disappointment :: we so never get any good conventions down here in Oz.. its way too far (and too expensive) to get the good actors to endure the 20something hour flight.

Although we are getting Amanda Tapping towards the later half of the year...(albiet in Melbourne... ) and one of my mates got to meet Paul McGillion in Brisbane a year or two ago...

                    I'm dreamin....

                      Awww.

I live near two major cities closer than BC (Portland and Seattle) and I'm surprised that they never get any kind of con.

Argh. Frustration. Creation's never been that bad, but they do have a tendency to dribble out names over a few months before locking in the final list maybe a month or so before the con. Gah.

                        Emerald City ComiCon.
Granted, it's mainly comics, but they have some media guests and panels. (And they've got this year's going at the same time as Creation's con in Vancouver. How ironic...)

Stealth Ship. It actually is pretty descriptive, because J/E isn't too in-your-face yet I don't think it takes much to see it. It just sneaks into your heart that way.

So I'm assuming you've been to Creation? How do you like it? I talked to someone a few months back who said they didn't like it too much because it was too commercialized or something and that the photo ops were rushed and stuff, and that it's not as, erm, "laid-back" as some of the others.

Hee, Jewel's going to be there. I would see her because I liked her in Firefly but since she seems better known at the moment for Atlantis now it would be kind of weird since I don't like her SGA character much. At all.

Didn't Joe Flanigan go down there for a con in 2007? Took his family and went surfing, too? I seem to recall that was one of the cons where he b*tched about the producers getting rid of Weir and talked about missing Torri.

I think that one was in New Zealand.

I've gone with general admission, so I've never done the photo ops. Only did autographs once, and that was for a con they ran with the entire cast of Babylon 5 over ten years ago. I didn't feel rushed with that one, but then, I ascribe that to the fact that Straczynski and the cast are all really cool people who love their fans.

It is definitely commercialized, moreso than in past years, but the one thing they excel at is being able to get a lot of cast members from a single show (both the big names and supporting cast) into one con. So if you want to get to see maybe half a dozen of the cast at once, you've got a better chance for it at one of the Creation cons than at a general multimedia con, where you might get one or two. (Unless it's a really big con where they've got a whole panel to themselves, like at ComicCon International in San Diego... that one's HUGE.)

Heh. Of course, she could always show up at the Firefly con...
