Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread
Yeah, me too. I should have mentioned that in the recap as well because it is kinda funny. I think Torri was so tall he had a hard time navigating the doorway without her helping in some way. She doesn't look heavy to him at all, but perhaps a bit unwieldy.
I'll edit that into the recap.
'Unwieldy.' That's a good, diplomatic way of putting it.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon.Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.
Which, I have to share this article, which states: "The exceptional acting and chemistry between the core cast, Joe Flanigan, Torri Higginson, David Hewlett, Rachel Luttrell, and Paul McGillion, made this show great ... Atlantis had the dynamics that are rarely seen between characters ... no matter what other factors went into the show, I believe we all would have continued watching just to see them!"
And then it goes on to say that how Elizabeth Weir's loss and the cast changes was the beginning of Atlantis' demise and how after the third season the show was ruined.
*comes back after reading the whole article* sniff, sniff... sob, whimper. Hyperventilating shriek.
This article is so right! I can't even put into words how right it was. I can only point to this line. --> "There's a lesson in all of this, but unfortunately it's not a new one and it's one that is largely ignored by those the lesson is meant for: listen to your fans or it could cost you dearly in the end. And the worst part of all is it is the fans that suffer the most. It may just be television, but some shows are so powerful that they just beg to be watched."

Hah! I saw that article, and gleefully devoured every word. Looks like the critics and industry watchers still aren't done calling the producers on the carpet for screwing the show up!

ahhhh...!
How many times have we heard TPTW trying to downplay the howls of outrage from the antis in the aftermath of the Casting Clusterfrak? How many times have we heard them say that 'it's just a very vocal minority who aren't happy'? And how many times have we seen articles like this one come out, where yet another industry watcher has pointed out every flaw in TPTW's actions and blown them into swiss cheese. I have to say, with all the arguments that SGA was canceled to save money, that the SGA movie is being put on hold to save money, what the stockholders at MGM and NBC/Universal think about their money being wasted by the same producers trying to implement the same failed policies.
Einstein nailed it on the head when he said: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."

I bet with the end of the show articles like this will continue to pop up over the next few months. And it's funny how people (other GW posters)still think we're in the minority.

Einstein's definition of insanity. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I was wondering if anyone would comment on that - it's always kind of thrown me out of the story for a moment. Not a major gripe, but yeah, if she were really unconscious, she wouldn't be holding onto his shoulder.
In fairness, this isn't the only show/movie I've seen make this mistake, but whenever I see it, it always makes me laugh.
Yeah, she's gripping way to tight and the angle her head is at, it's just all wrong for a person who's out of it. But still sweet, she's GRIPPING him!
I often wonder, when i watch this scene, was there a little joking before hand of Joe dropping her that for the filming she wasn't going to trust him! Anyone listened to the commentary for this scene? Anything interesting?

Since the beginning of S4. Look outside GW and the general anti-atmosphere here is more like outsider's perspectives than some people want to think.
GW is looking for contributers. I'm sure I can write good opinion pieces but I think they would deem me too controversial. Makes me wondering if writing an opinion article on "Why Sparky is pretty much canon" would be controversial.
I noticed the whole 'Tallness' issue as well. Normally she's in the same expedition boots/shoes as everyone else wears, yet in a few eps, particularly when the black pants come out, its the heeled boots... and holy crap they have a high heels!

*snickers* I know I'd be able to write some mind-blowing articles, but yeah, no doubt my choices in subject would be rejected out of hand, no matter how fairly I treated both sides.

Well, let's face it, Torri looks positively smokin' hot in 'em!

There probably was you know, knowing them! The scene is still incredibly sweet (even if slightly inaccurate from a medical standpoint). I wish we could have had a scene with more John worrying about her though!
Eri, Thank you so much for the recap, I absolutely loved it and it made me laugh more than once. I think I'm going to watch the episode again... if only for Elizabeth GRIPPING John's shoulder when he's carrying her to the infirmary. It's also something I noticed right away, but like you said, I just squeeeeeee! to hard at the scene to really care... Or I imagine she's doing it subconsciously
Bloody oath she does... makes me want to go and wear black pants and heeled boots... even if it is the middle of summer here.....
You and me both... of course, it's winter up here. So instead of being broiled, I'll be shivering!
