It never made any sense that the bulk of the expedition stayed away from the closest thing they'd found to a fully functional version of Atlantis.
Like I said, it really is a shame we didn't get to see that more often...
And the writers claim they didn't have any more storylines for her *rolls eyes*

The best example of Elizabeth's awesome negotiating skills comes bubbling up in Siege when she negotiates for the nuclear weapons and her own freedom... Go Lizzie!

They were made of epic fail not letting Elizabeth go off world and negotiate more. They dropped that ball just like they dropped John's ATA gene story and the exploration of Atlantis.

Oh, they could have done so much with John's ATA-gene and the wonders that Atlantis held... *growls at writers* They seemed to forget about the awesomeness that is the city in the final two seasons... *growls again*

Hmmm, and say, Epiphany on the other hand -- of the main guests I rather liked Teer and her little sister but only her brother (Soul Patch Dude) bugged me.
Originally posted by Reiko View PostHey, no, I actually liked Harmony too. ^^ It's a fun-romp episode and just having the McShep duo worked though I wish Teyla/Ronon could have had some sort of side story with it.

Originally posted by Ruined_puzzle View PostI think a long long time ago when someone here got sides for the episodes, it said that John kicked her out. But it was changed/cut in the episode. Just like Elizabeth being offworld in The Tower.
ETA: I found it.
There you go Shepwh0re didn't sleep with Mora. TPTB probably just wanted it to be all vague, which is why they cut that line or maybe they didn't have enough time.See. Stupid, stupid writers. The awesomeness that episode would have had had they gone with the original idea. I wonder if Torri just needed a break, which is why Elizabeth was cut out? In any case, that whole original scenario, with Elizabeth negotiating, at knife point, etc. and John's affirmation of not sleeping with Mara, would have shifted the Tower from one of my least favorite to one of my most favorite. Despite the nice balcony scene. I bet that would have been there anyway.

But you all know (and I assume disagree with) my opinions on that ep, and that situation. Unless I actually saw a scene in which he turned her away, I wouldn't believe it. People have needs and itches. If someone so readily tries to scratch that itch, well, he is quite capable of taking it for what it is - meaningless sex. For all we know, he could've used a condom (it's not like she'd know what it was).
And you know what? Sometimes, when somebody comes on to you, it makes you realise you have feelings for someone else. See, there's still sparky in this scenario
Also, while I'm very aware that lot of men would let their itch be scratched, I don't think that John is a kind of man who sleeps with a woman who comes to his room/tent, drops her dress, almost assaults him and informs him she's only there for the mad genes and babiez.
Originally posted by Scary Kitty View Post*snickers* Actually, I definitely agree with you that he certainly did seem rather eager, at least once he got over his initial surprise. But once Mara spilled the beans about wanting to bed him just to get a baby with his genes... instant cold shower!
Of course, in some cases, there just isn't enough time in a 44 minute (or whatever it is) episode to fit all those details in.
*cackles* OMG, it's like stealing the Enterprise in Star Trek III! That was some epic cloak-and-dagger stuff!

Hehe, what man wouldn't be at least flattered to see a good looking young thing do what Mara did? But being attracted to what you see, and actually doing something about it aren't the same thing, and most men (I know at least) have enough sanity / pride / whatever not to behave like mere animals, but use their head instead. I don't think John is a kind of guy who would knowingly knock up a woman, no matter how attractive, just because she wants his genes. He does have a personality too, despite what some people may say about him.
Why are we still calling him Shepwh0re when apparently he isn't one? I think that, just because of this stupid episode and parts that were cut, John had received that awful reputation.
I think both Sparky and Sheyla have a right to be pissed about this ep. After all, Elizabeth gets left out of what could have been a heavily sparky ep, and (shoe on other foot) Shep sleeps with someone merely a few hundred metres away from Teyla (and they never discuss it).sigpic

But in RL Shep never would have been promoted on Weir's word, or at all for that matter. There's also a test you have to pass almost like the college entrance exam. So movie magic takes a lot of license with reality.
Now I have to work on the Return II questions.
