They haven't signed the actors yet! Very interesting. Playing a game of chicken perhaps with regards to their fees. I wonder who the holdouts are. It must be JF and/or DH. Without Sheppard, no one will tune in. As much as the TPTB believe in it, McKay by himself let alone with Kellar would be really tiresome.

Actually, it's not even a question of actors holding out for a bigger paycheck. The studio simply hasn't contacted any of the actors to discuss contracts yet.

I think that's a very good description. 'Vegas' just doesn't feel like SGA, which I think is part of why we've been able to accept it so well; we don't have all the baggage of the past two years to weigh it down. It's a different universe, just as screwed up in it's own way, that we can twist to our will interpret how we please. And it's crazy!good in what it does with John.

OMG, can you imagine what we might get if Tarantino had ever directed a non-AU episode of SGA? Holy smokes!

If Tarantino directed SGA, it would definitely be a Kolya episode, where Kolya would get an awesome backstory, there would be action, angst, and sparky would end up under covers. After John's been decently whumped and killed off Kolya for realz.

Our TVs would explode from the awesomeness. And oh, the things he might have done with Sparky. That could've been hysterical!

Yup. It sucked because of what they did to Lizzie, but OMG, FS (along with Adrift/Lifeline) gave us a chance to see the wall around John's emotions come crashing down in a way we hadn't seen since The Storm/The Eye. And it was all for Lizzie.

is because of the loss of Elizabeth. Heck, everything in S4-5, period, is because of the loss of Elizabeth. She's the heart of Atlantis, and they're all so totally frakked without her.

I can't really compare TS/TE to Vegas - I love both for obviously very different reasons, but think of this - the same mentality that ledt John's actions through TS/TE was what cost him his career in Vegas AU. Basically it's the same person, but the life turned out differently for him - there was that one single difference that made all the difference.

You girls inspired me:

Season one: new adventure. flawed heroes. hot headed John. Sparks. The Storm/The Eye. Sheyla faliure.
Season two: sexy Lizzie. Sparky. Conversion. Intruder. Duet. Critical mass. Cadman!!! Ronon. Most entertaining season ever.
Season three: Sparky sharing married vibe. Replicators. Michael strikes again. Sunday. Stupid, stupid decisions.
Season four: fake sheyla. no Elizabeth. Widower John. Fake Atlantis leader. Behind the scenes plot.
Season five: hallucinations are trendy, yes? More widower John. No season arc. Lame episodes. No sheyla, thankfully. VEGAS.

It doesn't have to be the same person at all (although in my opinion it is, that's my story and I'm sticking with it), but the John - theme is there, it confirms Sparky and everything we've been saying about it since Adrift and Lifeline.

I know this is OT but I know for certain there's at least one person who will enjoy a good piece of Carson/Teyla writing (looks at Reiko). Shape of my heart written by Leave_me_light (you might know her as an excellent sparky author).

This is pure gold, tender, amazing and very in character - well at least for two characters we wished to see more of, and written better. Go read!

I didn't watch season 3 or 4, but from reading TWOP recently, I got the impression that they sucked big time. Someone described SGA as the red-haired stepchild of the Stargate franchise. Essentially killing off a main character after 3 seasons was really stupid and in retrospect, seemed to be a desperate move to improve ratings.

TWOP takes no prisoners. I love the snark. And the ratings stunt didn't even work. LOL

I know I've certainly called SGA as the red-headed stepchild.

Reportedly, Joe Flanigan even described the recasting to fans at a convention in 2007 as a "publicity stunt." Obviously, he thought it sucked. And we love him for standing up and calling it for what it was.

JF will not be censored. I love him for that. Wasn't it Kavan Smith who described him as being very "confident" at the last con? I'd go with that.

I think it's still relatively quiet, and I can't really bring myself to care a lot about the movie. (I'm still on Vegas high. Just ask SR.)

I did like the little repeat in the last episode, with John flying a suicide mission into a Wraith ship so he can explode it from the inside using the fighter plane. You can almost hear what was going through his mind when that happened ("This one is for you Lizze"). Thinks back to the Siege.
