Actually, it's not even a question of actors holding out for a bigger paycheck. The studio simply hasn't contacted any of the actors to discuss contracts yet.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

I think that's a very good description. 'Vegas' just doesn't feel like SGA, which I think is part of why we've been able to accept it so well; we don't have all the baggage of the past two years to weigh it down. It's a different universe, just as screwed up in it's own way, that we can twist to our will interpret how we please. And it's crazy!good in what it does with John.

OMG, can you imagine what we might get if Tarantino had ever directed a non-AU episode of SGA? Holy smokes!
If Tarantino directed SGA, it would definitely be a Kolya episode, where Kolya would get an awesome backstory, there would be action, angst, and sparky would end up under covers. After John's been decently whumped and killed off Kolya for realz.

      Not even The Storm/The Eye?

      Everything about John in S4-5
      Spoiler:
is because of the loss of Elizabeth. Heck, everything in S4-5, period, is because of the loss of Elizabeth. She's the heart of Atlantis, and they're all so totally frakked without her.
I can't really compare TS/TE to Vegas - I love both for obviously very different reasons, but think of this - the same mentality that ledt John's actions through TS/TE was what cost him his career in Vegas AU. Basically it's the same person, but the life turned out differently for him - there was that one single difference that made all the difference.

      You girls inspired me:

      Season one:
new adventure. flawed heroes. hot headed John. Sparks. The Storm/The Eye. Sheyla faliure.
Season two: sexy Lizzie. Sparky. Conversion. Intruder. Duet. Critical mass. Cadman!!! Ronon. Most entertaining season ever.
Season three: Sparky sharing married vibe. Replicators. Michael strikes again. Sunday. Stupid, stupid decisions.
Season four: fake sheyla. no Elizabeth. Widower John. Fake Atlantis leader. Behind the scenes plot.
Season five: hallucinations are trendy, yes? More widower John. No season arc. Lame episodes. No sheyla, thankfully. VEGAS.

And here's how JF provides continuity in show that lacks it:
      Spoiler:

      Adrift:

      TMC:

      Ghost in the machine:

      Remnants:

(compare this to his GitM posture)

      Vegas:

Can you see a pattern? I heard some people found bunch of off screen proofs to support their ships, I just came up with on screen proofs.

OMFG, YES! It would so be a Kolya episode, and we'd get a nice Pulp Fiction-style shootout between John and Kolya. John and Elizabeth would be DOING IT all over Atlantis. In a closet, on the conference room table, in various beds, on The Balcony... ohhhh yeah...

        In-very-deed.

And yet in a way, that one single difference still occurs in both universes; John loses someone he deeply cares for, and it changes him irrevocably. But in the canon universe, he at least has Atlantis and the support of his team.

Poor John. Fate is really cruel to him.

Frak yes. It's like I've been saying all along: Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon.

        Sparky so rules.

Speaking of Sunday, someone made a vid of that ep with the song "Bloody Sunday." It's so sad and now i can't stand to listen to the song, always makes me sad.

Oh and thanks for the support on the wisdom teeth, I'm finally lucid again. Really, really weird that sedative stuff!
P.S Anymore info on the movie, or is it all still relatively quiet?

I think it's still relatively quiet, and I can't really bring myself to care a lot about the movie. (I'm still on Vegas high. Just ask SR.)

Sorry for snipping your wonderful post SK!

I was thinking about something; in Vegas

              Spoiler:
the field medic wasn't named, but the theme of losing someone important, someone John cared for very much is the same as our John's loss of Elizabeth. It doesn't have to be the same person at all (although in my opinion it is, that's my story and I'm sticking with it), but the John - theme is there, it confirms Sparky and everything we've been saying about it since Adrift and Lifeline.

You sure did! *hugs Anuna* I love you!!
John just looks so sad... so utterly lost and sad to his core... I feel so sorry for him
I really would like to ask JF about it... if he was doing it on purpose or if it just seemed right to act this way or if someone told him to act like that (doubt it's the latter as TPTB never seemed to care for the most obvious and natural ship in the whole show)

                Sig by me

I know this is OT but I know for certain there's at least one person who will enjoy a good piece of Carson/Teyla writing (looks at Reiko). Shape of my heart written by Leave_me_light (you might know her as an excellent sparky author).

This is pure gold, tender, amazing and very in character - well at least for two characters we wished to see more of, and written better. Go read!

Essentially killing off a main character after 3 seasons was really stupid and in retrospect, seemed to be a desperate move to improve ratings.
TWOP takes no prisoners. I love the snark. And the ratings stunt didn't even work. LOL

Reportedly, Joe Flanigan even described the recasting to fans at a convention in 2007 as a "publicity stunt." Obviously, he thought it sucked. And we love him for standing up and calling it for what it was.
JF will not be censored. I love him for that. Wasn't it Kavan Smith who described him as being very "confident" at the last con? I'd go with that.

                        No argument from me .

I did like the little repeat in the last episode, with John flying a suicide mission into a Wraith ship so he can explode it from the inside using the fighter plane. You can almost hear what was going through his mind when that happened ("This one is for you Lizze"). Thinks back to the Siege.

I love the Vegas AU because it confirms so much about our John. I mean it's the whole pointing finger in the right direction thing. Like they were saying "look, that's what thsi guy is about". Ha!
