My favorite is the theory that even though he is the father of her child that doesn't mean he has any connection to Teyla??? Or something.

I'm confused about where he is too. I thought from GiTM that
    Spoiler:
Teyla was lying to Elizabeth when she said he and the baby were off world, but a number of people seem to believe it.
Personally, I think he is in their quarters being a house husband. In fact JM said as much recently. He called him a "stay at home dad" I believe. I'm beginning to think he may stick around. You know how they like to have things going on off screen. I'm a bit worried about his future but not as much as I was. I think Teyla deserves to be happy but they should have done more with her Athosian culture.

And to get back on topic, they should have done more with Sparky also. But you know what? We have a lot to be thankful for. Imagine how we would feel if Elizabeth was in Teyla's place right now. We basically have no worries. No matter what they do in the movie. It won't change all the wonderful Sparky scenes we got.
I think Kanaan is both plot device AND decent ship. Granted, their chemistry isn't off the charts. It's more of a quiet thing. I love how Teyla's face lights up when she talks about him. For this bunch of writers, it's actually kind of impressive.

I think Kanaan and the baby are
    Spoiler:
still on Atlantis. Teyla's got to go somewhere when they push her off screen. *sporks the same bunch of writers*

(Though, yes, several of the theories are amusing.)
Agreed. I love Teyla with three other guys, but the Kanaan thing works for me. *shrug*

Saturday is better for me, just not tomorrow. But if we keep this time next week, I'll mark it on my calendar!

    Missing scenes:

    Spoiler:
    1. Common Ground finale, where John and Elizabeth reunite and deal with emotional fallout. You just know that would have been great to see!

    2. The Return,Part I: John tries to get in touch with reclusive Elizabeth: Because you know he wouldn't have gone six whole weeks without trying. It should have been him, not Carson, Darmnit!

    3. The Eye ending: John is afraid Elizabeth looks at him in a new light since he killed all those people. He feels he has to explain but has trouble because, after all, it's about feelings. She understands without him having to actually say it out loud. UST to the max.

    4. Conversion, somewhere near the end - John waking up after his treatment to find Elizabeth sitting by his side. He's still not completely human - looking, but he does know what he did and apologizes. Elizabeth holds his blueish hand. Hearts melt.

    5. The Real World before the ending balcony scene. Elizabeth is released from the infirmary and goes to find John right away to thank him for risking his life to save her. He says, "you'd know I'd do anything for you 'Lizbeth". Then he goes on to tell her how helpless he felt for those 5 hours and how it seemed like an eternity. And she tells him how she could almost remember him and dreamed about a shadowy man with messy hair. Sparkies squee.

    6. (going off the Sparky beaten path): End of Sateda, Elizabeth meets Ronon again: Elizabeth expresses her joy at seeing Ronon alive and well. John smiles from ear to ear.

    7. Irresistable: John and Elizabeth discuss their experience and Elizabeth reassures John nothing beyond *puke* Lucius' caresses happened. Because no one slept with Lucius. Because John says they can still go back and Ronon can tie Lucius up by his feet and cut off whatever Ronon wanted to cut off. (And he's not really joking, either.)

8.Childhood's End: A scene with Elizabeth coming to the children's planet and meeting them. Cuz it would have been adorable.

    9. The Long Goodbye: Before the great infirmary scene at the end, John watches as Phebus leaves Elizabeth's body. He is right there beside her, the agony she is going through reflected on his face. When they are finally left alone, he tenderly brushes her hair off her face.

To add to that: Carson leaves them alone because he knows to give Sparky their privacy.

@Kanaan - he definitely is a plot device, but a well used one, methinks. He actually explains things that need explaining, in a fairly good way. Writing Elizabeth out, for example, was a badly used plot device to write Carter in, IMO.

I have no problem with quiet love which is grounded in mutual respect and understanding - that is after all how real love works. Sparky has that, they do it naturally and effortlessly, and like I said many times they don't need flashy I love yous. Kisses and hugs are good and nice, by all means, but what matters even more is that underlying connection we simply sense between them. That kind of love story, that speaks more through actions than words is far better for science fiction, IMO. Yes, you can overdo with 'romance' (and then you get McKeller). But one weepy look from John at the end of GitM? He doesn't need to say a word. It's all there on his face.

Just as writing Carson out was a sloppy way to give Jewel Staite a role. Frankly, I would have much preferred to see Keller come in as Carson's new assistant, and Carter come in temporarily while Atlantis searches for (and eventually successfully rescues) Elizabeth. That would've been much more satisfying in the long run. But nooo, instead we got saddled with a couple of cheap publicity stunts that didn't work. What a waste of actors and characters alike.

Exactly. It's the connection that can't be conveyed with words that really makes a relationship for the audience. Sparky has had it from Day 1. Teyla/Kanaan (what little we've seen of it) has it, and I think that's due in large part to Rachel's performance; she's brought the same kind of quiet inner fire to it that JoeF has done for Sparky in S4-S5. I've never seen that kind of intensity in Rachel's and JoeF's performance in the scenes that are supposedly Sheyla. The actors know where the chemistry really is, and to hell with what the scripts say.

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

Oh noes!! Finally a time slot I could get into, and my dvd's are in storage somewhere else. Never mind.

I had a big response to CG and the 'kiss' debate, but every time I started to write it, it looked like a sermon. Nobody needs to hear that. At least not my sermons

People, would you do some drabble writing? CG is an episode that simply needs fanfic.
I already posted mine, and the title got poked fun at.

Then again, it does kinda ask for it...

                  Belated report on Outsiders.

                  Spoiler:

                  Oh, sorry. Where was I?

                  Spoiler:
I've already forgotten most of the plot. Way too much with the random Renfaire cast of the week. John was leadery and all smart figuring out how to save everybody. Rodney was...I guess he was Rodney but not too much so. One cool thing. We find out Carson can't be fed on. Michael gave him the Hoffan drug. No Keller. Teyla and Ronon were mostly wallpaper but at least in a lot of scenes. No Sparky. No sheyla. And mostly no McKeller until the very last few seconds had to spoil it when Carson asked Rodney about his love life. *vomits*

But *tiny little squee* there is hope for Inquisition.
                  Spoiler:
The promo shows the scene when John left Elizabeth behind.
I have high hopes for this one. *will spork the universe if you disappoint me*

                    Spoiler:
The one good thing about this episode is it feels more like the first three seasons. No Keller and the only person missing from the team is Elizabeth. I kind of enjoyed it just because of that. Sad, I know.

I will join you in the sporking. This could be Sparky's last on-screen canon hurrah, unless TPTB can be convinced to include Elizabeth in the movie.

Yeah, someone who's not a shipper said on the Outsiders thread that it felt like Elizabeth should be there talking to John on the radio and that there should have been a discussion scene with them at the end. Peepul missez her. *tear*

Haven't seen Outsiders yet, but I'm actually having higher hopes. Because in this one I apparently can pretend Lizzie is waiting for them back home, and that's 'nuff for me.

Is this one that calls for a rewrite? It seems like one that we could write off-world!Lizzie into.

Go vote for Lizzie. http://forum.gateworld.net/showthrea...10#post9092010 Because I'm going to spork myself if I have to choose between her and Carson.

While I'm not surprised at some people and their tendency to interpret Conversion kiss as a proof of some kind of romance (where a guy forces himself on a girl - hm, okay, sure, why not if that's someone's cup of tea? It's definitely not mine, but hey, don't look at me. I'm old fashioned and I like a guy to sweet talk me and all that stuff, but there may be even more old fashioned people who thing a boy should knock a girl on a head with a club or something and then drag her by her hair into his cave. To each his/hers own.) -- however I am pleasantly surprised to hear about Teyla having some quality family time.

What I love about science fiction and what I fully expect of science fiction is to be ahead of its time. In a world like it is today bunch of stereotypes are still around and people still tend to think that it's Mom who should stay at home. I love seeing stay at home Dads in my shows at least, if not in my neighborhood. I think it's a whole new level of cool and awesome, and not only that. For too long time we have been taught that being a man means being emotionally distant and controlled. Crying and being caring and gentle was for wusses. Well, I'm glad to see that is changing, at least on SGA, and finally, I have something nice to say about SGA *sneerk*
OR: He's a person that is not a 20-something babe that looks hot in leather and therefore in TPTBs eyes is not the screentime that would be wasted on him.
