This was in Washington, DC and you'll be happy to know this Belgian place is the new hot spot. Though the $10 beers were definitely on the high side, even for here.

I think I know which one you mean... don't know the name or where it is exactly but my friend had someone on her friendslist who mentioned a Belgian restaurant and even gave us the menu to look over.

And considering all the fake French and Italian accents on waiters around here, it was refreshing to run into someone genuine. Yes, people actually fake accents because they think you expect it. lol

I got back from dinner with friends in a fabulous Belgian restaurant (who knew they had so many good beers?) just in time to watch Tracker. The beer helped.

McKeller is alive and well. There is some debate on whether Ronon was teasing Rodney when he said he was interested in Keller. I completely missed that, but my husband picked up on it. Again. Beer. Keller was not very annoying. There was very little John. And no Teyla. The runner guy was great. I hope he shows up again.

Oooh, speaking of that, I have a question. If Elizabeth did ascend, couldn't she be able remove herself from Fran's body (doing the pretty glowy thing) and then reappear in her natural form again? Just realised that has a double meaning. Yes, she would be naked, would she not?

Pffft SR. You don't know about Belgian beer? There goes another plot bunny; Elizabeth quizzing John about beer. He would know all about American beers, but European beers are pretty damn good!

Saw Budwiser in the store today and grinned like mad.

*giggle snort* Since the Belgian company recently bought Budweiser, I didn't feel disloyal. *looks around for JF* I knew about Stella, that was about it. Loved the De Koninck. The food was great and our waiter was an authentic Belgian. Fun night. Yes, Elizabeth would know all sorts of international things like that, and you know what? I think John would too. They would have lots in common culture wise.

And it's even more obvious now that we know a little more about John's background; coming from a wealthy family, it's more likely he'd have been exposed to a lot of those same things. I wonder sometimes, if he'd followed his father's 'plans' for him, could he still have met Elizabeth, just under other circumstances? International business dealings converging with diplomatic maneuvers?

Can't contribute to the discussion about beer, as I don't know much about it and don't like drinking the stuff.

Just a thought. As John comes from a rich background, would he have had a more cultured upbringing? Would this include a knowledge of literature (War and Peace notwithstanding?

The question's a little out of the blue, but as it was mentioned about his background, it just occurred to me. You see, a couple of years back I wrote a Valentine fic where John insisted on waxing poetical, and I've always wondered whether that was too oot
