    More TV:
John - Golf Channel, Discovery/History (things like Modern Marvels, anything to do with cars or flying, etc), Country Music Channel
Elizabeth - Masterpiece Theater, Dog Whisperer, CNN/MSNBC/BBC, etc, History Channel (the world history & archaeology stuff)
Together - Old movies on TCM/AMC, some of the History Channel shows, Dr. Who

No arguments from me with the last one.

I can see John getting excited about shark week on the Discovery channel. Then he tries to talk Elizabeth into watching with him. And she trades him for an hour on the Food Network. lol

Then they watch ESPN, Elizabeth gets emotional over the sports hero sob stories they do, and John realizes he is doomed. lol again

And that is a free plot bunny for anyone who wants it.

Anyone here? Or are you all watching the season premieres of Smallville and Supernatural tonight? (Not that I'll be watching Supernatural, never got into it... Crack!ville on the other hand... )

Hmm, I wonder what kinds of crazy stuff John and Elizabeth might watch on TV?
OH MY GOSH! YOU NEED TO GET INTO SUPERNATURAL.

            IT'S QUITE SIMPLY...TEH BOMB.

Seriously, it gets better and better and better, and last night's eppy just absolutely blew me away. I don't recall many shows getting better with age--but this one hasn't failed yet. I wish more people were excited by the straight-up horror genre (not science horror, like X-Files or Fringe) because Supernatural is one of those gems people will be talking about 10 years from now, going 'why didn't I watch it when it was on?'

If you want to see great writing and characterization in action, go there.

            J&E Television?

John: Is all ESPN. I actually see him spending his time watching movies on TV, maybe fictional television because he seems the kind of guy who'd want a break.

Elizabeth: I can't see her watching much TV--when she does, I'd expect it to be histories/documentaries or something that would stimulate her mind.

@bolded part - see that's the precise reason why I'll probably never watch it. I can't stand horror, and it's not disliking I'm talking about here, I can't stand it. That kind of shocking stimuli is too much, I'm way too sensitive. I literally can't sleep for a week at least after horrors (and don't you laugh at me. X Files wasn't so bad that way, but there were episodes, especially in earlier seasons when I just shut the TV off because I couldn't watch it). If the show really is that good, then it's sad that the genre is the very thing preventing me to watch it.

Also, related to SN, I don't appreciate how some people declared SGA and Sparky a complete waste of time because it doesn't reach the standards of Supernatural. I don't know about you folks, but I still love all my ships - that goes for the ones I shipped in past. If I liked something in a way person likes a ship, it doesn't change to the point when I call it a waste of my time. I know this is entirely personal, but it's definitely working as repellent when it comes to watching Supernatural.

Well, what some people think shouldn't turn you off the entire Supernatural fan base or, more importantly, the show. I'm a die hard Supernatural fan--much more so than a SGA fan--but I can't compare the shows. I look at SPN different than SGA, and I like them for different reasons. My reasons for liking the shows, or my criticisms of the shows, shouldn't influence how you feel. I can't tell you how many times I get frustrated because people stereotype a fandom. Like how some non-SGA people think a majority of the SGA fans could care less about Elizabeth because of a small vocal minority of anti-Weirs.

The only thing I can say that makes me respect SN more than SGA is that the PTB at SN actually listen to the fans. They still try storylines that may start out unpopular--truth be told, I've never criticized anything they've done, others have--but when it doesn't work, or if the fans outcry is huge, they will listen. Kripke cares about his fans, and he listens, responds, and soothes as best he can. I have the utmost respect for him, unlike some other show runners.

It's a horror show. That pretty much makes it a no for me. However their PTB seem reasonable.

No, I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like horror. No matter how good it is, if it bothers you it's not enjoyable.

They are. And they make use of female writers and directors, too--who do a bang up job. The fact that they can take two very masculine guys and still have an incredible emotional storyline, without getting cheesy, amazes me--and the guys remain masculine and 'guys guys' through it all.

I think that takes brains. I also need to rewatch some of my Star trek favorites and remind myself what decent writing is.

Okay, back to writing fic for me.

Back to writing fic for me too. Might have the first chapter of our story by midnight. Check your e-mail in the morning - you might find yourself a very dark fiction there
