Schism, by astral angel. Elizabeth and John are off-world. The mission goes very wrong. Things fall apart and fall together in some scary ways.

Liberabit Machina, by speckle_dots. Post-S4 AU. Elizabeth's home, but she's still waiting to feel like it.

I just noticed something disturbing. Joe is wearing ugg boots, & possibly Rachel's. Okay two disturning things, the second being that I noticed the first.
When Rachel came to NZ she was on tv an went on & on about her kiwi ugg boots & how much she loved them. Joe's look like the same pair. Or coincidence.
That interview was a little off though. The interviewer seemed to have a 'strong' interest in Rachel, even though he was 60+.

First: A laser is a thin coherent beam. Coherent = not visible (unless it's fired right into your eye that is)

Second: The 'laser' would first have to vaporize its way through the roof. Then we're talking.

Whining baby breaking her fall and ending up dead - that fanfiction would make my day

So what was the beam then? Apart from a plot device to facilitate Weir eating glass & Atlantis leaving Lantea? Just an energy beam, for lack of a better definition?

And I'm assuming in their scenario if the beam was only powerful enough to break a window but not do any damage to the floor that at that altitude (18,000ft & climbing) that most people should have been sucked out of the control room due to the rapid depressurisation?

Well I was looking at how the people had fallen. Tough-guy Ronon was still on the ground, Rodney was up and walking over to help Teyla, who was sitting up, sandwiched between John & Elizabeth (how ironic). Lizzie (the only unarmed person of the entire group) is totally unharmed & goes to touch the kneeling Sheppard, who is dressed in a bathrobe & uggboots. Yip, my mind works in mysterious ways, if at all
