Well, poured my brain out in that testing room. And I've got the worst final exam timetable EVER! So mad i pulled the strap on the dress i was wearing when i found out.

Anywho, back to SPARKY!!! Got quiet a few chps of a story in my head, but got absolutely no time to write. I am SO over uni, completely and utterly over it! That smutathon...are stories still being added? Can someone give me the link?

How do you feel about the exam? Do you think you passed? And send me some questions from there (my brain feels like having a light exercise).

I never write stories because of smutathons or anything like that. I write them because I feel like writing. But I did accept challenges in the past *smiles at Reiko*

Hmmm! I ahve to go back for Conversion discussion later, I just want to apologize for being away - the new job is kinda tiring, but I'm adjusting - Reiko where's that sig?!

But OMG Conversion - it's possibly one of my favorite episodes and I'm trying to write a smuthaton challenge based on it. Yes, I'm still deep in the gutter.
I'm not weird, I'm limited edition.

In other news: After an annoying technical glitch that kept subscribers from downloading for a few days, the SGA audio drama narrated by Torri Higginson is now available. Those of you who have purchased the CD directly through Big Finish should be able to access it through your account on the BF website.

I'm listening to it now... there was a bit of fun with Weir's amused commentary on Sheppard early on... hee!
I can't wait to hear it! I've also read Torri's post-story interview--and while I'm sad that she opted not to reprise Elizabeth, she explains why she didn't come back. What's amusing is that she did mention if someone else plays Elizabeth she'll tune in! *claps for Torri*

          Write away!

I have Conversion questions for fun.

          1) Okay, that kiss: coming from an unbiased POV (aka, acknowledging John and Teyla was intended from a canon standpoint--i.e., don't answer with "they're brother and sister, it was GROSS!") do you think the resolution to 'the kiss' was appropriate?

          2) Why do you think Elizabeth had such a hard time comforting John this time around, when she generally speaks to him in an easy and friendly manner?

          3) Were Caldwell's actions in changing around John's organization appropriate (minus the obvious emotional effect it had on Weir?)

          4) What do you think John was feeling during the first bedroom scene with Elizabeth?

          5) Who should have had an additional scene with transforming John--Teyla, Beckett, McKay, or Ronon?

          6) Do you think Elizabeth hates Caldwell now?

          7) We saw John's apology to Teyla. How do you think he reacted in his first conversation with Elizabeth after he was better?

          8) Should John's connection with the Iratus bug be brought back up again as a future Atlantis storyline, or is it better left alone?

              Write away!

I have Conversion questions for fun.

Read Torri's comment - and all I can say is that I have even more respect for her. I'd rather have this than watch Elizabeth being ruined even further. I hate the fact that all of them are being ruined, because the writers don't have a clue what they're doing most of the time - but this isn't the topic of this thread.

              Anyway... to answer your questions.

              1) Okay, that kiss: coming from an unbiased POV (aka, acknowledging John and Teyla was intended from a canon standpoint--i.e., don't answer with "they're brother and sister, it was GROSS!") do you think the resolution to 'the kiss' was appropriate?

I'll repeat what I always say - the writers chose the worse way that could have been chosen to promote a "ship" - confusing sexual abuse with sexual feelings and attraction. I don't buy this kiss as a romantic because of Teyla's reaction - just look at her body language! She was terrified! What John did was, in her mind, one step shy of a full blown sexual assault. Sexual aggression is aggression. It doesn't come from attraction one harbors, but from the desire to scare, humiliate or dominate. John was turning into an animal. He didn't launch himself on her because he loves her, but because the animal part of his brain kicked him too far. Human beings use reason to guide their actions. We are not animals, and aggression shouldn't be confused for romance - like MG and whoever wrote this with him did. There is a wide spread myth, of sexual abuse perpetrators: that they did what they did because they couldn't control their impulses. That is crap with a dangerous premise inside - if they were attracted, then the victim must have attracted them. So it's really the victim who is to blame. Which is why only 4 of 10 sexual assaults is discovered, and the society is still pointing its finger toward the victim - because she wore provocative clothes or walked in a certain way that aroused the man? What, are men allowed to turn their self control off if something attractive comes their way? That's crap. Women aren't asking for this, so please Martin Gero, go and hide somewhere.

With that said, I like the fact that this episode ended with an apology - because if it didn't then lots of women would be right to call SGA PTB for promotion of sexual abuse. If I was writing this I would have made John's assault a much bigger issue, trust me. And just to make it clear - I am very anti ship when it comes to John and Teyla. They do look like brother and sister and it is gross because they simply don't fit together.

              2) Why do you think Elizabeth had such a hard time comforting John this time around, when she generally speaks to him in an easy and friendly manner?

Well, he is the one to come and tell her we'll manage when things look impossible to win. She learned to lean on him, and right now she is loosing that. Plus I think she is scared for his life, based on Carson's prognosis. It's about his life, his health - his sanity and dignity - and because this situation threatens John's very humanity, I believe that very fact makes it hard for Elizabeth to handle. I believe that on some unconscious basis she can feel what is one of his worse nightmares - proving that he is an aggressive, dark, dangerous creature that can do no good, but only hurt the people he cares for.

              3) Were Caldwell's actions in changing around John's organization appropriate (minus the obvious emotional effect it had on Weir?)

No - he sent a wrong message to soldiers but to John also - that John would never get back and that he - Caldwell - isn't too heartbroken about it. Given that Caldwell wanted this job from the start, it's selfish of him to change everything John did when this opportunity presented itself. It's selfish and unthoughtful.

              4) What do you think John was feeling during the first bedroom scene with Elizabeth?

Fear and shame - that she would see the worse in him and be disgusted with what she found there. She does the very opposite, treating him like *John* and not like a security risk, and that is one of the greatest gifts and lessons she gives to him - no matter what, she is always looking for the best in him, and that's something he didn't encounter a long time ago, if ever. On a shippy note, I think that deep down, this is a reason why he loves her - he feels safe around her, good enough and worthy just the way he is.

              5) Who should have had an additional scene with transforming John--Teyla, Beckett, McKay, or Ronon?

Carson. So we could compare his bedside manner to Elizabeth's. it would highlight just how upset and shaken she was by his state.

              6) Do you think Elizabeth hates Caldwell now?

No. But she knows exactly where he's coming from and what his interests are.

              7) We saw John's apology to Teyla. How do you think he reacted in his first conversation with Elizabeth after he was better?

I tend to imagine a scene like this one - he wakes up, not quite well yet, but well enough to know what he had done was wrong. He tries to speak but his lips and throat are dry. Elizabeth gives him some ice chips and says that there is nothing to apologize for, that she doesn't hold it against him, and she's glad he is okay.

Of course I can come up / recommend a smutty outcome of this situation. May I add this is one of the episodes that cry for a John/Elizabeth end scene but the stupid writers were stupid enough not to give us one. The second episode I'm referring to is Common ground.

              8) Should John's connection with the Iratus bug be brought back up again as a future Atlantis storyline, or is it better left alone?

It should have been done in the next episode - there should have been some uneasiness between him and Teyla left. It was a sexual assault. The most humiliating form of aggression for a woman. There should have been some trust issues damn it. But not in a shippy sense, because the whole John and Teyla thing doesn't work.
I'm not weird, I'm limited edition.

Hope y'all don't mind me stopping in. I'm interested in reading Torri's interview - where can I find it?

Also, I've been wanting to mention, though I'm not a Sparky shipper personally, that I thought you all would really enjoy the latest Stargate Magazine, if you haven't seen it already. I thought the layout for the short story must have been done by a Sparky shipper , though the story itself is not that shippy. But the pics of of John and Elizabeth are beautiful.
