The Ancient Planet-Crusher. Putting the 'Boom' in Doom, One World at a Time!

Imagine the first time Elizabeth and John see each other after the explosion. What does she say to him about his faith in Rodney? He to her?

    More silliness...

    : Rodney is SO grounded.

: And he's going straight to bed without dessert!

Think of nicknames the science team gives Rodney after his spectacular failure.

Rodney "Boom Today" McStupid (obviously from a Babylon 5 fan!)

Sam Carter wanna-be (hey, she blew up a sun!)
    *LOLOLOLOL* Very cute!

Okay, Instinct (otherwise known as the episode that leads up to "Conversion".)

Not surprisingly, I didn't use many screencaptures for this episode--there's not a lot of Sparkiliciousness to it (but what they got they so made use of, as they always do).

It had it's interesting moments--and it had Jewel Staite. Now, mind you I'm separating Jewel's role here from her role as Dr. Keller in S4, and truth be told I don't have anything against her. I adored her on "Firefly" so I was really glad to see her here. I also like how she added a little bit of depth to the Wraith storyline.

The set-up of this story took a long, long time, I felt. All the creepy stories of the Wraith crash and such...by the time we get to Ellia we know a great deal more about these people than I ever cared to.

    And...we're back to rustic.

Ellia herself is interesting, and I like the interplay between McKay and the father about the 'science' stuff. I also like how each of the character is allowed an individual reaction to Ellia and the scenario.

Is that Kaylee? Or a Reaver?

On to our Sparky moment...it involves Beckett, but still shows how, even in an episode with one John/Elizabeth scene, they make it one of the best scenes.

Love this expression. She gets such a kick out of his lame humor.

As Beckett is pleading with Elizabeth to be allowed to go, an interesting dialogue occurs (again) which goes back (again) to her trust in John:

BECKETT: Look, I realize we can't bring her back to Atlantis, but I could take the retro-virus and equipment necessary for the analysis with me to the planet. A few days with a cooperative test subject could be worth months of theoretical research. [Weir is looking reluctantly interested.] Elizabeth, I don't have to tell you how important this could be for us.

    [Weir turns back to Sheppard.]

    WEIR: Is she dangerous?

    SHEPPARD: She's a Wraith!

[Weir looks sharply at Beckett, who looks disappointed.]

SHEPPARD: Although... I have to admit... she does seem a little different.

Fear the Weir eyebrow of *DOOM*

Elizabeth's eyebrow raise is at Sheppard's assertion of 'yes, she's dangerous, she's a Wraith!'...and it's not until John hesitates, mentions there is something interesting about her, that she presumably agrees to then let Carson go. This is perfect use of the military head/expedition head interplay, in that of course she'd take the advice of the person who'd been out there to help her make the final clearance decision. But...it's also John convincing Elizabeth something's worth taking a chance on, as he's done in the last 2 episodes.

One of the things I've enjoyed about Ronon is he pretty much maintains an even consistency when it comes to his feelings about the Wraith--they don't change, even in the face of a young girl. This scene below makes me laugh because of how Ellia is trying to be nice. She has more guts than I. If a tall, scary guy with a quickdraw gun looked at me like that, I'd stay away.

This was a good vehicle for Beckett, and I'm glad they spent a great deal of backstory over the course of two years on the Wraith retrovirus so that the later "Michael" storyline made sense.

"Instinct" had some great jaw-droppers at the end--particularly about Ellia's father being the one she fed on, I wasn't expecting that and thought it was a great twist. I also was appreciative of the fact that she had to die because of what she'd become. That's hinging on the realistic as opposed to the sci-fi fantastic. There is a little blame to be laid on Atlantis in a sense, and that's realistic too.

And the fight scene sets up "Conversion". Made of Win! \o/

Despite the fact that Ronon is the better Wraith hunter (and he has the stun gun, hello!) John leaves him to tend to Teyla. HRMMMMMMMMMM...

Aww, John. We look forward to seeing this resolve.

.: I really liked the consistancy there, too. While the rest of the team treats her differently given her situation (even Teyla), Ronon's demeanor stays the same, because yes - she's still a Wraith. I liked seeing that play out in this episode =]

That would be a fun picture game. Post up Elizabeth's *DOOM* expressions (most notably with eyebrows, but on occasion a flat face. )

The mods don't want us to post big pics like that because it's a drain on bandwidth and makes the board scroll, which makes it harder for people to read it.
Thank you for explaining to me how I could fix this, I´m still learning on this forum and I didn´t know how to fix it so Thank you for the help. I appreciate it. I have fixed it.

Eyebrow of doom eh? I read a post once bemoaning how the poster detested her furrowed brow whenever she announced something over the PA (well, she does it all the time but that's just the example they used). I'd have to say it's quite refreshing to see an actress who recognises that there is quite a lot of acting/emotion conveyed simply through eyes and eyebrows. Such as the eyebrow of doom And the wry amusement eyebrow.

Probably Hide and Seek as in 38 minutes she was wearing that hideous see-through top. Does any one think Torri could play a pretty good Vulcan?
