Well leave it to Pajus to corrupt us here. Gateraid proves to be a good student, and I was corrupted already, I'm only pretending to be nice. Now I must go and take another look at those captions, because I need inspiration. Gosh, I should do things but I feel rotten lazy right now.
I'm not weird, I'm limited edition.

Wow. If I was in your place I wouldn't be able to do it. Even now when I think of my granddad I get all teary eyed.

Okay to the topic at hand, Trinity.

TBH, conceptually at least, this is actually the bread and butter of SGA. Plenty of tech (with not a lot of CGI), a moral debate, and a lesson learnt for a major character. While there may not have been a lot of direct sparky in this ep, it is hinted at. And not surprisingly, it is Rodney that does the hinting. How does he always know, when he is so clueless about everything else? I'm just gonna pretend that he ships sparky.

I really really liked that all the way through this ep there were arguements/debates over which course of action was the correct one. I agree that it brought in a dose of "real life" which is often skipped over. Ultimately Weir gets pushed into making the decision against her better judgement (First Strike anyone?) by Sheppard, Caldwell and McKay.

It was the first time in a long time that Teyla had gotten to do something for her people, other than refer to them in such phrases as "my people believe...." It's unfortunate that they dropped the ball with Teyla. She seems to suffer a lot of off-screen writing. Most of the stuff she does with her people is only mentioned (if at all) rather than shown, making people (I) forget about them, and not see her as their current leader.

I do disagree somewhat with assertion that the writers made McKay look like an ass. He genuinely believes in what he is doing (because he is both smart and arrogant). There is remorse for the death, but he wants to proceed so badly that he trades on relationships to do it (pulls out the Sparky card). Even during the arguement/discussion with Weir and Zelenka through the gate, he still believes he can control the experiment. He is of course woefully misguided believing that he could achieve what the ancients could not.

Eps like this, while not shoot em up action, tend to stay with me longer as they provide insight into characters. Actually this one did a pretty good job of doing that for all of the main cast. A pity they don't do that any longer

EDIT: sorry, posted first without looking.
(((hugs))) for both ladyeliza and anuna

I do feel better thank you. Wonderful insight again - and I may just forgive Rodney for being an @ss here because he pulled out the sparky card. Hmmm, I need to write a sparky fic from Rodney's POV. Prompt anyone?

And now I'm gone to bed. Good night from rainy Croatia!
