    Major OT

    Spoiler:
For my English Literature class, we've been reading A Tale of Two Cities. (Which I read in High School...But have to read again...) Anyways, I was going to have Woolsey play Mr. Lorry(guy in the book), and we have to show pictures of what our characters look like. Does anyone have a good pic of Woolsey with his glasses on? I've found a few...but they aren't big enough. =( But if anyone has one can you PM it to me, or even post it on here? (Since I'm on here 24/7 anyways.) =D

    Thanks!

And the way he explains to Teyla why Elizabeth made the decision she did. I doubt he even had to discuss it with her. He just understood her thinking showing how in synch they were from the beginning. And when he disagreed with Elizabeth, he did it in private. Don't know if that happened in this one. I'm vague too and don't have time to rewatch.

There were lots of disagreements in S1 but they were all done in private, with proper respect - another thing that tells us just how good they suit each other. All of that is necessary for a good, balanced relationship, and along with the chemistry they have it all. I can't help remebering "The Rising" when Elizabeth called him to the balcony to discuss the rescue mission with him. he took that as a sign she would say "no", but I guess later on he realized she did that because:

        a) expedition members shouldn't have heard a disagreement between the leader and one of high ranking military officers;

        b) she didn't want to reprimand him in front of everyone and make his opinion and ideas less worthy in other people eyes. Instead she criticized him in private and he learned to appreciate that.
I'm not weird, I'm limited edition.

Remember when he said something like: the fact that you are telling me this in private tells me you aren't going to let me go on that mission. It's just the way leaders do it. You never disagree in front of subordinates. They were such a good leadership team. *kicks something*

Yeah, but there's more - IMO of course - he sooooo didn't expect her to hear him out; to try to understand him and where he was coming from. THAT was a big surprise for him, I think he was used to "I said it so, you do it" leadership style. With Elizabeth he got to know a whole new aspect/side to leadership. She taught him how to be a leader, how to be a better person.

Which gets me back to why I ship them with such passion. They affect each other. They change each other. They make the other a better person. *flail*

One good thing from S4 is how
                Spoiler:
Sam points this out to him...sorta. She says being in Weir's office makes him think about diplomacy or some such. Samantha Carter: Sparky shipper.

                Happy St. Patrick's Day!

                  Happy St Patrick's Day!!!!

                  And about Sam

                  Spoiler:
she knows true love when she sees it! Yay! I have to write Sam's POV on Sparky. I quite enjoyed writing her in TSM.

                  Good night from me!

And because they established this pattern so early on, it makes John's very public insubordination later in Season 1 during "Hot Zone" all the more shocking, to the both of them.

Yep. I recall it's been mentioned more than once here that in the aftermath of Season 4,
                    Spoiler:
John, his growth as a person and a leader, is really Elizabeth's true legacy to the future of Atlantis and the Pegasus Galaxy. She's made him into the leader he needs to be in order to guide Atlantis through the difficulties they will face in the years to come. (Including certain annoying IOA representatives taking over and trying to micromanage everything... )

And yeah, Sam is totally a Sparky shipper. She's been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt herself, so she gets what John's going through.

And going OT just for a bit...

                    Happy Saint Patrick's Day!!!

Sparky is on screen. Therefore, it is canon. Elizabeth is still out there. And John WILL bring her home.

I'm having one of those weeks. To cheer myself up I shall post on Suspicion, though I clearly should be studying... *checks syllabus* "Geriatrics" instead. *headdesk*

So as other people have noted there was more yummy conflict in this one. I'll try not to rehash what's already been said, so while I do think it was sweet that John later defended her to Teyla, I should also point out that Teyla did essentially the same thing herself. Ie, got angry with John while they talked about it, but then defended him (and Elizabeth) to the Athosians later. In fact, I sometimes wish they had done that scene with just Teyla and Halling, so that later Halling could defend Teyla to the rest of the Athosians. I am a bit silly, yes.

                        spoiler-cut for images!
                        Spoiler:

Anyway, I like the scene where John dismisses Bates and then Elizabeth is all "oh no you di'int," except she's too polite to actually say that so she just stares at him

                        until he gets the point.

Then, when he says she can dismiss him if she wants, she instead says "Why don't you go and see how Lt. Ford is doing," complete with teh eyebrow,

thus dismissing him without actually dismissing him.
It takes him a second to process that,

and then he doesn't really have anything he can say to that, so he quietly exits, leaving Elizabeth all alone with her tiny table.

                        I also like this line:
"Dr. Weir wants to meet them; that's all. It's nothing personal. Well, I mean, it is in the sense that she wants to meet them all personally—" Ah, remember when John was really just a lovable secret dork? I miss those days.

Also, doesn't Elizabeth look super-pretty in this blue top?

I bet he noticed, which is why he was so on-edge this episode. Too distracted by inappropriate thoughts about jumping his boss. (Or jobbing, if you prefer that expression. )

Other things I miss from this episode:
                        • Sandwich references.
                        • Bates.
                        • Ford being a kid.
                        • Actual characterization.

Aaaand that's all I've got for you! Wow, I do feel better after that.

                              Spoiler:
Weir will not be played by actress Torri Higginson, who turned down the offer to appear in the episode (story). Instead the script was rewritten so that the cliffhanger could be resolved and the story continued without her.

The existence of disembodied Replicator consciousnesses in the episode may go a long way in explaining just how this science fiction feat will be accomplished -- if the Weir from "Be All My Sins Remember'd" was, in fact, a Replicator duplicate and not the human Weir, who the Replicators claimed had been killed ("This Mortal Coil").
*Sniffs* are they going to replace the character with someone else?.

                              Or the later?
