Elizabeth Weir/John Sheppard Appreciation/Ship/Discussion Thread

      Personally for me it was s2 that was so hard to watch. mainly because it ripped off too many SG1 storylines. I stopped about 5 eps in, but I'm trying to watch it again now cause i have to read up to s5 to be able to write this fic I'm working on. But s2 is really grating on me!
      I enjoyed S2 for bits and pieces--I thought S3 had better personal moments with the group (and more Liz 'action') but wasn't the same weight of S1 & S2. The storyline was darker in S2, with the loss of Ford and the experiments into Wraith genetics. S3 ditched all of that and introduced the Replicator enemy, which was pressing but not as dark a storyline until S4.

      As to Torri...

      We don't know why she turned it down. According to JM's blog, it wasn't due to the actual script, because he said script wasn't discussed.

      All we know about the situation was that they wanted her back for one episode in S5, with a potential 'arc' for S6 if they got one. Perhaps the fact that she'd have to book her time way in advance, given how SGA shoots, would have interfered with opportunities with other shows (which generally shoot much closer to show air dates than SGA). I personally hope it was a timing issue for Torri--hopefully she's got prospects on the horizon and SGA shooting would have interfered with it. It would be lovely to see her again.

      As for 'Elizabeth'--we have no answer. The ending of BAMSR is going to be resolved, we just haven't been told how. They cannot do anything with Torri, but that doesn't mean they can't have the rogue replicators come back with their leader never revealed to the Atlantis crew. She could be left out there as a mysterious presence in charge without our Atlantis people knowing she's out there. Or, they could blow up that ship in one episode with a far away double pretending to be her getting caught in the explosion. They can CGI morph her into someone.

      And though I HOPE they don't, they can recast, even. Have Weir come back as some new face.

      And while I hope Torri gets to move on to bigger and better things, there is always the caveat of 'never say never'. No one can say that she won't be back for certain. I'd say 90% unlikely, perhaps, but there is no guarantee she's completely out for good. I'm not hoping on that, though, or even wishing for it, really.

        Look at the bolded part under the spoiler tags. I agree with you - they could do that, nothing is "below" them, but it would be so cheap!

        That's why I stopped watching and decided to keep my sparky, and not SGA.

          My absolute limit--where I go from being disappointed to hating TPTB, is when they do something callous because they're mad at an actor or just want a character 'gone'. I've had it happen once or twice where a body double was put in place of a fired/quit actor and they just 'blew them up' and BOOM! character was dead. *SCREAMS*

          I hope they don't do that to Weir.

          I don't think I'm going to find out anyway, however. All of this has turned me off to watching any SGA at the moment; I've missed the last two new episodes because I still feel sad (over the situation, and the initial decision to let Elizabeth go which started all of this in the first place). I may come back to see Beckett, but I'm honestly not sure right now. I wasn't lying in my blog comment about not being sure.

          I do like John, though, and Teyla, so I may give it another chance when some of the disappointment has worn off. The difficulty is seeing them and always comparing how it would have been different with Elizabeth there. Especially when Woolsey comes in.

          And more than anything, I want reaction. I've never been satisfied with the character reactions over the loss of Elizabeth--where none of them had a major change in attitude despite losing someone they loved. I've never quite gotten over that, and as the Elizabeth episodes draw further away, I know I'm not going to get them. That is the worst part of all for me, who places so much of my joy in storytelling on the characters themselves.

                      Awwww! I love Submersion...though it doesn't have all the great overall moments like Echoes, the initial John/Elizabeth stuff in it is really funny and great...especially the 'you're with me...or, I'm with you..." "Either way or eye-ther way" line.

                      It was really nice to see John and Elizabeth exploring the hallways together--kinda like it was easy for them to be together. I wish they'd gotten to do it longer.
