Oh man, pavane... were you at the Burbank con after the ADB screening? Do you remember when David Hewlett pointed out a kid in the audience that he said had "Paul McGillion hair"?! That was a riot!
omg! Really!!? Sadly, I was at home and missed that. Was only in LA for the screening. Did you see/hear that? Do tell more!

I hate to be the bringer of bad news: GW has this story up on the main page. Nothing really new.

Oh you lucky person! I can't wait for the s2 DVDs to come out here! hehe ... enjoy them.

And just to celebrate how about a s2 cap?
(photo is from s2 episode Inferno. Not sure of the spoiler possibilites for the pic so I'm putting it in tags just in case)

Oh, man... all our posts from this morning were lost.

Darn server crashes... *sigh* Well, why don't I dredge up my previous topic then?

Do you all think that having a loyal following of fangirls (like us), and the status of an object of affection that (naturally) comes with it, would make it more or less difficult for someone like Paul McGillion to find a girlfriend?

EDIT: And Welcome Ann! I'm sure Caz is still delighted you're here, even if your response has gone missing!

In an interview once, Paul said he gets lucky more often than Beckett. I think he'd have no problems getting a girlfriend. I suspect they are lined up out the door.

Grrr. And we were having such a fun conversation, too! What was I so dang amusing about, this morning?

I would think that it's harder for an actor, in general, to have a girlfriend (as opposed to dates). It must be hard to trust that someone isn't just dating you for whatever wierdness like the fact that you play Carson or that they just want to be in your periphery. And that lack of trust can't make it easy to start long-term relationships.

Now, whether or not Paul has other issues that has prevented him from having someone steady in his life? Who knows? Long television series hours can't help, either.

I think we were also talking about whether or not Paul (like Scott Bakula before him) takes advantage of his status with the fangirls? Usually that gets gossiped about at DragonCon the year after. I didn't hear anything. (Although if you're around Richard Hatch? Be careful!)

Of course, I'd consent to go out on a date with PM any ol' time!

Well, there's a big difference between 'getting lucky', fangirl or no, and finding a nice girlfriend. Paul seems to be far too romantic and awesome to really want to flout himself like that, but I won't claim to know him well enough to say for sure. But hell yeah, I'd go on a date with him in a heartbeat too!

But really... some of the things I've heard about Scott Bakula are just... well, just all wrong on so many levels. Jerry Doyle was in Baltimore for a con a few years back, and I heard some nasty rumors floating around about his behaviour with some fans there, but I don't know anything for sure. I really hope Paul isn't that desperate. Dating a fan is one thing... You do eventually have an opportunity to get to know the person, and on your own time, too. But going to a con and doing 'teh nasty' one night with an obsessed and desperate fangirl just seems wrong.

Caz, where did you find Season 2 DVDs available online?? I can't even find a release date or pre-order information mentioned, at either Amazon or Amazon.uk.

David Hewlett was joking about hairstyles at the Burbank con - he was laughing at the state of his own hair and said that he never gets it cut or knows what do do with it when he's on hiatus ... one of the good things about being in a TV show is having someone else to take care of your hair every day, apparently! Then he made a crack about how wild Paul's hair is, and he suddenly said, "Hey, where's that kid with the Paul McGillion hair I was talking with earlier? Oh yeah, there he is! Stand up!" And this little boy (11 or 12) stood up in the audience, with his hair all swept straight up with gel. It was hilarious! David told him, "Enjoy it while you can, kid, because one day you'll wake up and it'll look like this!" and he pointed to his own thinning hair.

While it's something I hope no one ever does at a con (I used to work for the Sexually Transmitted Disease Program at the CDC and you just don't want to know what could happen), there are some cons at which scoring with whoever you can is the norm.

                      Oh. Like DragonCon!

I don't know. There's the fantasy and then there's the reality. I would hope that people could maintain some control over that line and realize that it's not as wonderfully fantastic as you'd suspect. And I would also hope that the actors would have enough sense not to go there, if for no other reason than stories get passed around like we're doing now! It can't be good for the career. Really.

I think, for all of Paul's flirting, he tries to keep himself under some semblance of control at cons. If not, I know some people in the Canadian STD Program. They could have a talk with him!

But forget realities. This is a thunk thread! Look. At. Me....

hey all. all this talk of dating has got me in the mood for some pictures. (not that it takes much to get me there, epsecially when the pics are of Paul ) Anyway, I thought I'd post a few collage type things i've done in the past while learning Paint Shop Pro and The Gimp.

The other is in spoiler tags because one of the pics on the collage is from the s3 episode Phantoms.

Oh, I should hope so. Especially when he's wearing that wonderful kilt. It drives the fangirls (like me) absolutely nuts!

Carson's pointy hair makes my toe happy.

Actually, I could tell you a story about someone connected with Stargate getting very cozy with some female fans at one of the cons. I don't buy the boys will be boys argument. And I don't know why anyone would risk getting into all kinds of difficulty by getting a little carried away at a con. I guess that common sense is not that common any more.
