Is it that 'Firefly' girl they've been talking about in the "Keep the Lion Rampant" (or something like that) thread over at the 3rd season discussion? I can't recall her name... but you might want to take a look there for more info!

That would be Jewel Staite you're talking about, and her OFFICIAL website states she has been offered a 'recurring' role but was still considering it (so I doubt its a quick, in and out role, becuase theres nothing to think about).

The thread says its for 'support' as much as to address the rumours. We need to let TPTB know how important he is to us, to reaffirm the popularity that got him made a reg in the first place. The person who started the thread brought up what happened with various other shows (such as 'Angel') where the 'rumours' ended up being true, however because everyone waited for official word to voice their concerns, it was too late to do anything.

I'd rather be safe then sorry, besides whats the worse that could happen? If the mere idea is enough to get loads of people shouting about him, maybe the result will be he's included more! I know I am LOVING seeing him as part of the off-world team (even if someone did suggest that was 'building him up' for more of an emotional impact when they kill him off... ).

Someone also posted a snippet from GW's Torri interview where they asked her directly about the possibility of such things and she confirmed something 'horrible' had happened but that she was not allowed to talk about it. I also remember the lock down on 'Heroes'. Now if she'd said there was stuff happening but she couldn't spoil it, fair does, thats the usual. But not allowed to talk about it? That makes my gut wrenching in the most unpleasent manner.

And besides, I like waxing lyrical about my fav thunk! The man is awesome AND HOT!

Personally I'm ignoring all the "Oh my god, what's going to happen?!" kerfuffle that's going around. What will happen will happen. I hate fan panics and useless campaigns over issues we don't even know are issues yet.

I can understand your point of view, and I generally treat fan panics in the same way. But I guess, I feel this is too important to me to ignore. I would hate to think TPTB, and Paul himself, didn't realise that Carson was a very popular character and we want more of him in the show not less, or even none.

I just wrote half a page in response then decided to delete it. I want to talk about funner things, such as Return Part 1! What a wealth of Carson information and so little discussion over it, what's up people? Worrying so much he'll be taken away we're not appreciationg how much of him we've just been given!

Probably more than we've ever been given before:

- He comes from a family of seven children.
- He’s allergic to cats.
- He likes pets and bought baby turtles.
- It’s implied he knows something about raising pups.
- His relationship with Cadman didn’t work out.
- It’s implied he’ll miss Rodney and Radek most, hence he’s probably closest to them.
- Instead of thinking about personal danger, he worries about whether he’s just inadvertently killed his baby turtles.

Other points.
- He stayed working with the SG programme rather than returning to Scotland. It’s not said whether he visited or not but considering how much he appeared to miss his family, especially his mother, he may well have done
- Character growth - he doesn’t appear to hesitate to return with the others to Atlantis to save the day.

What is all this first base, second base stuff? I assume they're American euphamsims but they don't quite translate accross the pond,

I love Scotland but then again I'm biased! Weather's no bad but firmly pushing into Autumnal. That's a Scot's euphemism in its own way, hehe. Can't say I'm in a hurry to see the states, I know there's some amazing places to visit but the guns thing still scares me!

Well, I think first base equates to a date; second base a kiss; third base I believe is making out, and a home run or a grand slam... well, maybe you can figure that one out for yourself.

The fact that lots of people in your country have them! Hehehe think Carson's look when Ford handed him the gun and then remember that Carson had training and time to acclimatise!

In Scotland/UK gun control is very tight.

I always wanted to ask, on TV programmes it gives the impression that your general police carry guns as standard, is that true?

Well, most policemen and Military Policemen (MP) on military bases will carry a side-arm. It's securely holstered to their belt, but it's usually fairly clearly visible.

I wouldn't say that guns are common where I live, although I live right next to a military base, so I see a man carrying a gun inspecting my badge ID every time I go to work. It doesn't really bother me.

Otherwise, I very, VERY rarely ever see a gun. I know that some homeowners have a permit to keep a gun in their house, but I don't think it's that common where I live. I don't go into Baltimore city that often, but I hear that there is a gun control problem there. But like I said, it's not common where I live to see someone with a gun. Do you find that disconcerting to know that guns are available to buy if you have a permit? I don't think it's that difficult to apply for a permit, either, so long as you don't have a criminal background or a history of severe mental disorder. Guns are mostly used around here for sport hunting, though.
