Carson Beckett/Paul McGillion Thunk Thread

Thanks so much for the lovely welcome, everyone. Isn't it fantastic how fan-girly adoration can bring like-minded peeps together?

Yeah, Joe & Paul were both very nice, especially Paul ; Jason was there as well, but I didn't line up for his autograph. Paul's line was the longest, by the way.

I also had a little "spelling misunderstanding" with Paul! He was signing my photo & when he wrote my name, I thought he'd misspelled it. My real name starts with G but I thought he'd misheard due to my Aussie accent & the general noisy surroundings, & written it starting with J (which commonly happens with my name). When I pointed it out, he said, "No, that's a G." And I said, "Oh, it looks like a J." And he showed me his signature & pointed to the G in it & said, "See, that's how I write my G." So then I felt silly & stumblingly apologised, but he was very gracious about it.
I just get sick of people getting my name wrong, plus I'm rather a pedant about spelling & punctuation, etc. So that sort of came to the fore in my nervous excitement over meeting Paul. *forehead slap*
But on the bright side of that, I'm more than qualified to help Paul with his spelling!
Plus, he blew on the photo to make sure the writing on it from the marker pen had dried! *swoon*

Scaperfan, yeah I did stand in Seth's crazy-long queue! It was worth it, though.

And I have seen ADB, I managed to watch a low-quality copy of it on YouTube! I enjoyed it so much that I immediately ordered it on Amazon. It should arrive in the next couple of weeks & I'm looking forward to watching it in clearer resolution, plus seeing all the extras on the DVD.
I don't have a set-top box yet for the digital channels, but I will be getting one soon. Even so, 7's erratic airing of sci-fi shows like Atlantis always messes with the continuity of the bigger story arcs, as well as some of the little in-jokes & call-backs. Besides, I love the extras & commentaries on DVDs.

Anyway, I've rambled enough. So here is my first contribution to this thunk thread. It's the photo I got with Paul, but I've cropped myself out (you can just see the edge of my hair on the left, hehee). Click on the image to see full-size. Enjoy....

I'll just help Paul with the computer lessons then, they're more fun (I did 2 years of Computing at college) than spelling lessons anyway Plus I've run a few forums in my time...the John Simm (the Master in Doctor Who) one I've had since 2007 has over 400 members, nearing 450! If Paul ever wants a message board on his official site, then I want the job of running it

Hehe- when I got to the front of the queue, his minder was calling out "if you want it personalised, write your name down here!", and showing scraps of paper and pens. Good thinking! Because yeah, it was godawfully noisy!
G not a J, eh? *ponders* First name that comes to mind is Gillian, or Gemma.
Ah, but even talking to him was interaction, and not everyone gets that... Next time, if you're lucky, he may remember you as "the lassie who tried to correct mah spelling!"

I couldn't believe that! I had to ask what a 'robot chicken' was too, and was told by one person, equally as knowledgeable as me, that it was a chinese dish.

Oh, I'm with ya there, DVDs are way better than airing-on-telly. They've seemed to show them in good order though, from what I've seen of the titles in the tv guide each week?
A lot of shows though....yeah, not very impressed when they say 'season finale' when it's only halfway through a season, or they say 'new season!', and give us three new eps, then repeats, then a new ep, then a repeat...they did that with NCIS at one point, very frustrating!

Aww, nice. I didn't think to do that, as the year before year we got yelled at for wanting to do the 'casual-lean-over' photos...despite people in front of us being allowed to do it, they had to draw the line right in front of us, then no-one was allowed to. Slowing the queue down too much. Grr.
So, I got my friend to video my 'encounter' instead. I now have his voice on camera, saying my name... *glee*

Yep, that's the one. I think it's the fact that it was only $1 difference that really bugs me. If the price had gone way too high, then it wouldn't have been so bad.

Watched 2 episodes of Season 2 today, the 5th and 6th episodes to be exact. Paul wasn't even in the first one, and in the second (Trinity, which was a lot better than the one before it), he was only in one scene. I think there's lots of him in the next 2 though

I don't just watch Atlantis for Paul, but him being in the episodes makes them perfect

Indeed i agree. With Carson in the episdoe it makes it better. Really awsome to see Paul on tv and in movies.I really love his work he's a brillant actor. Loved him as Beckett he portrayed really well and also finally after how long i finally got See Grace Fly. His portrayal as Dominic Mckinley...just...wow!! Really great performance and i could really see why he got nominated for his role as Dominic.

Does anyone know if you can get a movie called "Me,Mom,Dad and her" ? It has Paul in it and i'd really like to get it as well...it has Paul in it and i'm always on the look out for his work. I must find his work.
