Hello! Seems like Ive found a place to call home...

Im Jenny...Newbie here to the boards....I came looking for discussions about Stargate conventions...and found ya'll..

I am a recent Carson Beckett/Paul McGillion convert...Formerly a Daniel Jackson girl...Ive always been a sucker for a dark hair/light eyed/accent type of guy...and when I heard that Paul just puts on the accent for the role, well, that got me hooked...

Im currently making my way through Atlantis...I am on Season 3...and have decided to ban "Sunday" from my viewing rotation..I cried buckets when Daniel Jackson died the first time...I couldnt handle another beloved character dying...

In real life...I am a single parent...my daughter is 10...ITs funny...She is autistic and loves sci fi...We live in Las Vegas NV...

Well, Im off to spend a few hours browsing the lovely pictures ya'll have posted...and maybe get my signature up and running ( is there anyone I can sweet talk into making me a cool Carson siggy?) I look forward to talking to you all...

    Thanks, Scifan!

Hello and Welcome! You have come to the right place. Not only can we talk Paul McG but we can also talk conventions.

I am also a Daniel Jackson fan and like you, had a hard time when he went the first time.

"Sunday" is a really good episode (if you of course factor out what happens to Carson.) I keep wishing it was a badly done episode as it would make me feel a lot better.

Not a darn thing wrong with a harddrive full of Ben Browder and Michael Shanks. I kind of like that idea actually.

See Grace Fly is an interesting movie. Lots of Paul in it though. Same thing for A Dog's Breakfast (Hewlett is fantastic in it as well!)

I have not yet been to Vancouver so I can't answer any questions about it specifically but I have been to plenty of other Cons. If you are interested in info about Vancouver, I suggest going to the thread for the Con listed under the Fandom section of the forum here. Lots of helpful info and people in the know. (There are others on the Paul thread too who can chime in with info...*lightly kicks LJR02*)

I'll be going to the Chicago SG con in August and I fully understand what you say about feeling like a kid again.

I guess I should point out that *that* really isn't Daniel's first death, but it is the one that takes him off SG-1 and the show for a while (to be replaced by Jonas Quinn.) I believe the first real death Dr. Jackson suffered was at the hands of a staff blast but he was revived via handy dandy sarcophagus. I also think he dies one more time in-between that and 'Meridian' (which is the episode where he Ascends) but I honestly can't remember how.

And of course, those are not the last times he dies either.

*ponders if all of this should be under spoiler cut*

In regards to Meridian...To some people...it wasnt sad at all...

To me...it was s.a.d. Didnt help at the time I had a raging case of PMS...

The chicago con is my backup...I was originally supposed to attend the Farscapr/Stargate con in november...but I took the lead in a play here in town...and wouldnt you know opening night is the weekend of that con

                      Thanks, Scifan!

I would *love* to go to the Farscape/SG con in November but between Chicago and DragonCon, there really is no way. Well, I say that now, but who knows when November comes around.

Welcome Jenny!! Glad to see you here.

Yes I can totally understand your feeling 10 again too! This past April in Vancouver was my first Stargate convention ...though I have been to other conventions before. I do hope to return next year just can't quite make those plans yet. I will say that I had a great time.... and I thought it would be the only chance I had to go to a Stargate con...however somehow now I have managed to plan to go to Chicago later this year. I would love to make the LA trip too .... but that seems unlikely at this point.

My advice for Vancouver..... Schedule some time before and after the convention if you want to go around and see Vancouver. My first mistake this past year was only scheduling a day earlier and later... and that was not enough time. I really did not do anything outside convention related activities. Nothing wrong with it... as I had fun... but additional time would have been good.

I will say that I got the Gold Pass and it was totally worth it.... I wanted to do all the extra activities, get the autographs, and the set tour.... in my opinion as a first-timer I did not regret it at all. You can purchase it all separately ... but it's really up to you and your budget. I did not take the additional location tours ... so can't really say anything about them....but that possibly next time I'll do that too.

I also recommend going to the Fandom section and posting on the Vancouver 2010 thread.... many people there have been for several years and can perhaps offer additional advice for you.

Hope this helps a bit... and welcome again!

Yanno, that is one thing that I cannot wrap my head around...The technical side of theater...I can act ( I can be anyone you want me to be...) but everything else, I leave to the ones that can do it better than I can

                              Thanks, Scifan!

:: wanders back in after changing her drool laden clothes::

I’ve got my room reservation for the 14th and leaving the 19th. I know that doesn’t give me a lot of sight seeing time...but that’s ok . I’ll take whatever I can.

I’m going back and forth on the whole gold package....I guess it will depend on when I can get finances together...I figured if all the gold packages go bye-bye...then Ill go al-la carte. I think it would be cool to go on the set tour...

And yeah, I just posted on the Vancouver con thread...Im still wandering around trying to find the goodies...

However, I feel naked without a siggy or a banner...Im off to hunt around for one!
