idlewild, have you contacted the convention about your apparently lost check? If it hasn't drawn by now, it's unlikely it will - I'd send them a replacement ASAP and make sure they know what happened! It would be such a shame if you couldn't come to the convention because of this messup.

I emailed them, no response Going to try calling after the weekend. I know it takes awhile for the mail to get there and then for a check to clear, but come on! This is ridiculous!

Hello, lommit! Thank you for the heads-up! Yes, I think many of us knew, obsessive as we are, but for any who didn't, now they do! Funny coincidence too; I just watched that ep for the first time on DVD today. You really can tell Paul's Scottish even when he's using his Canadian-ish accent. There were several lines that sounded almost like he could slip into the Scottish accent at any moment.

TJ, glad to hear you'll still be hanging with us Sunday! (Hm, a bunch of Beckett fans together on a Sunday? I suspect something has to be done related to that...)

Idlewild, weird thought: If your check doesn't clear and you don't get a good answer on the phone this weekend, would it be possible for me to buy a ticket for you, then you could pay me back (knowing the check would reach me )? I just hate to see this not work out for you over something so silly.

Fainne, welcome back! Glad you're having an interesting time at the excavation (and hopefully finding enjoyment in it too). What are you excavating anyway? Also glad you have access to a porta-potty now. Sometimes, things can be a bit too rustic.

P.S. - Oh, I did end up indulging on the con and bought a photo op with Paul. $25 isn't going to make a significant difference budget-wise and buys me a happy memory, so why not?

Seti we are excavating an urn field from the Iron Age. we already found one urn and several ceramic vessels. they call me Indiana Jones because of my hat *lol* That's more funny knowing our little degression to "Paul McGillion and the temple of thunkers" so I'm pretty proud of it. I hoped to get me a pretty archaeologist but somehow the only archaelogist visiting our sites were female

lol I hadn't thought of that, but now that scene's playing in my head. Nice to see so many people who know some French! Living in Texas, it doesn't come up really often. Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Farsi, and various languages of India, yes, but not French.

I forgot about financial aid! Context: When planning my finances for grad school, I forgot that the financial aid package they provide isn't just for tuition; they plan it to incorporate your needs for rent, travel (gas money, car stuff), books, lab fees, and basic needs for the year. It means much bigger debts after grad school, but that's true for a lot of students I think and means I can actually afford a decent apartment and can actually live on my own! Whoo-hoo!

Sorry. lol Just really been worried these last few days and this takes a big burden off. And makes me feel less guilty about going to Dallas this June.

O_O; Uhm. Question from someone who's never booked her own flight before: are the to and from tickets in a round-trip priced separately? As in, does the flight down cost three hundred, and the flight back up three hundred more?

If so, I'm going to have nearly nothing to play with once I get there! T^T
